Do you even know the back story of Leticia James? All she could talk about was taking Trump down before she was even elected Attorney General of NY without any evidence of any kind. I’ve never said Trump is an Angel but I know when a man is being targeted, an if you can’t see that you’re lying to yourself. Can even tell me in your own words what the case is even about?

Looks like its again gonna be another tough District. Don't know much about the new teams Friendswood, Laporte or Ball. Figure United to be strong. GCM should be the better of the 3 Baytown schools. Then we will have to see about PAM. We are losing a small Sr class but a few key contributors. Defense was very young but made strides last season. Our success will be how long our offense can keep the defense off the field and fresh.

I was on my way to the lake a few years back and stopped in Newton at Brookshires. There was a clean cut lady in line in front of me at the registers and she was wearing a Newton ISD shirt. Possibly a teacher , probably a para… I don’t know. We made small talk and she seemed sharp. She pulled out her Lonestar Card and paid for her groceries, then paid cash for her non-grocery items. I could make a ton of judgments, but it made me wonder. How many people have NEVER paid for their own groceries? I can’t claim superiority because I have signed up for benefits in the past. There was an emergency 90 days’ worth, if my memory is correct. I found work and never renewer after that initial period. But I do remember that the actual money lasted a lot longer than 90 days, lol. Its like this… I know a young couple with kids and they are always struggling… but I’ve heard Grandpaw say “I don’t care how bad it gets over there… my grandkids aren’t going to sit in the dark over there and they’re not going to go hungry.” It’s a nice gesture, but all Mom and Dad hear is that they don’t have to worry about the light bill or food… gramps has it covered… or at least that’s how they act. They just need somebody else to help them get their car back from the repo yard. And I think that’s where a lot of our “poor” are today. They know that if they start improving their lot in life by getting a job, they won’t be able to afford the groceries that they have on our dime. Those generous benefits are a disincentive to getting off of them. My solution? A set period of benefits like we have now… 24 months or so. Once it’s done, it’s only good for products like WIC provides, the old cheese and butter like they used to pass out, and MREs like we feed our troops. My guess is that you’d have a lot fewer people on the system. Heck, prove the liberals wrong. Only give them healthy alternatives. Fresh fruit and vegetables, no processed foods, no soft drinks. My guess is that our spending in that area would shrink when they couldn’t shop like fourth graders turned loose at the grocery store with unlimited resources.

As somebody who thinks that the world was a better place when the police could tune a guy up when he needed it, this was just too much. Much too much. 1. If those weren’t cops, it wouldn’t have made the local news two days in a row… it would have just been more inner city violence. 2. A part of me wonders if these police were hired as part of a program that relaxed hiring standards in favor of filling racial quotas. 3. As always, I suspect that there is more to the story. What happened was still criminal, but if you, say, kicked a cop in the nuts or something, you were kinda up front in the engine ringing the bell when the train left the station. 4. This isn’t a George Floyd “did the knee cause his death” question. They beat this man to death. I guess they didn’t realize that the ‘hood code of silence wouldn’t apply to them. 5. Ben Crump is implicit. In 2023 people antagonize cops hoping that they’ll get a payday. Has that dude given anything back? He sure earns a lot. He needs these incidents to keep popping off or he’ll have to go back to fighting speeding tickets. 5. It’s funny how we can talk about the culture of violence in police departments causing this while ignoring that this could also be a result of the culture of violence in the black community. This whole thing was messed up. I can see a human snapping and knocking that hell out of somebody. I can’t see five guys holding a guy and taking turns punching, kicking, and hitting him with a baton over and over… then celebrating. It was just savage.

It’s unbelievable how miserable people are and unwilling to congratulate a man on job well done. Coach Mathews did a phenomenal job as AD/HC for Vidor but a few select individuals always want to talk about wins and loses… and before those people say it’s a sports and someone has to win and lose, you are right but sports is so much more than being about winning and losing. Sports are about teaching someone to be accountable, a team player, leadership, and so on. So before you chime in and focus solely on wins and loses…. Let’s see your win, loss record (and little league doesn’t count) or if y’all know so much about being a AD/HC let’s see those applications and credentials.

I see people talk about individual coaches, players, etc on these threads. Why should calling out the referee be any different? If so, why is that? Isn't that really part of the issue with the chapter really? These guys don't get held accountable for their actions? I don't want to stop a thread either but if you are a coach, you get much worse treatment than this.

Last night during a girls basketball game, I saw a player (who I know personally) kindly tap an official on the shoulder to ask a question. He put his hand in her face and walked away. After that game I asked her what he said. This is what she told me… ”You can’t talk to me. You need to shut up.” I get at some places these guys are treated bad, and I hate that for them. However, during this particular game, as bad of a job as they were doing hardly a word was said to these guys. Who holds this official accountable? Answer, no one. The kid has every right to ask a question. Especially when they genuinely want an answer so that they can correct themselves. What if the official came to the kid to say something (which happens often), and the kid had the same response the official did? She gets a T, coach most likely removes her from the game, and most coaches are going to make the kid run or something after the next practice.

I respect that outlook on things. I hate that we lost good ones because of the fans treatment of them, but is this the only reason? Could we get them back for improved pay, or maybe use these guys who quit to train others since they do not want to call games anymore? I agree fans can be obnoxious and rude. I get it. However, most coaches are very respectful and try to talk to the officials about calls they do not agree with. (Not all I know, but most.) Fans giving umpires, refs, etc. a hard time has been going on forever. To some degree, officials have to expect that when signing up to do the job. Threats and waiting for them after the game is what I would think made some of these guys quit. That kind of stuff should never happen, ever.

To get better! learn how to win big games. Not just coast on talent. You know. Heck they could even go talk to Colby Richards. You know him right? set that up for me on your off period.

Santos needs to talk with Liz Warren and Joe Biden on how to pull off big lies. They are all POS. How’s that? I’ve always aligned with Republucans because they reflect my conservative views. I, nor any other conservative on this board, have ever claimed there are no scoundrels amongst us.

What is ridiculous? Do you mean the 200 members of a party all think in lockstep? When the Democrats go behind closed doors, are they all robots? Are you saying that there is never a debate or is it that they want to act like they are all the same person? The Dems are like a man and a woman going behind closed doors to talk about an issue. They step out and the woman has a black eye and a bloody lip as they smile and announce that there were no differences in opinion and no debate was needed. Can you imagine what went on when Democrat Senator Joe Manchin behind closed doors told the rest of the Democrats that he was siding with the Republicans on not changing the 200 year rules on the filibuster in the Senate last year? His lone vote shut down a takeover that was ridiculous. I am sure there were group hugs all the way around. The only thing that Republican showed in this case was that everybody does not think the same. The Democrats are the same behind closed doors but they walk out with the bloody wife and smile and say everything was okay. They feel that honesty is best, kept behind the closed doors.

I’m a Grovite and have been all my life. I have watched and played Football, Baseball and ran Track while at PNG. I’m not saying that Port Neches hasn’t put out any star athlete’s. But the majority of the better athletes have come from Groves. When I talk about stars from Port Neches, I’m not talking about the kids whose parents grew up in Groves and moved to PN when they got married. I’m talking true blue born in PN and stayed in PN.
