Is Phil Danaher an elite coach? According to your theory.. he would've been fired at Calallen several times over. Even though he won more Texas high school football games than anyone that's ever coached and reached state finals twice, state semi-finals 11 times, state quarter finals 6 times, and regional finals 9 times. That's more deep runs than many of your "elite coaches" that you constantly talk about. So.. again. Is Phil Danaher an elite coach? Or is he someone that should've been fired?

It’s unbelievable how miserable people are and unwilling to congratulate a man on job well done. Coach Mathews did a phenomenal job as AD/HC for Vidor but a few select individuals always want to talk about wins and loses… and before those people say it’s a sports and someone has to win and lose, you are right but sports is so much more than being about winning and losing. Sports are about teaching someone to be accountable, a team player, leadership, and so on. So before you chime in and focus solely on wins and loses…. Let’s see your win, loss record (and little league doesn’t count) or if y’all know so much about being a AD/HC let’s see those applications and credentials.

I see people talk about individual coaches, players, etc on these threads. Why should calling out the referee be any different? If so, why is that? Isn't that really part of the issue with the chapter really? These guys don't get held accountable for their actions? I don't want to stop a thread either but if you are a coach, you get much worse treatment than this.

Last night during a girls basketball game, I saw a player (who I know personally) kindly tap an official on the shoulder to ask a question. He put his hand in her face and walked away. After that game I asked her what he said. This is what she told me… ”You can’t talk to me. You need to shut up.” I get at some places these guys are treated bad, and I hate that for them. However, during this particular game, as bad of a job as they were doing hardly a word was said to these guys. Who holds this official accountable? Answer, no one. The kid has every right to ask a question. Especially when they genuinely want an answer so that they can correct themselves. What if the official came to the kid to say something (which happens often), and the kid had the same response the official did? She gets a T, coach most likely removes her from the game, and most coaches are going to make the kid run or something after the next practice.

I guess the talk I have been hearing was spot on. From KBMT's Ashly Elam: Vidor’s Jeff Mathews will not return as the school’s AD/Head Football Coach after deciding to make a career change. Mathews first season leading the Pirates was in 1999. In that time Vidor advanced to the playoffs nine times and won two district titles. Mathews career ends with a record of 117-124.

I respect that outlook on things. I hate that we lost good ones because of the fans treatment of them, but is this the only reason? Could we get them back for improved pay, or maybe use these guys who quit to train others since they do not want to call games anymore? I agree fans can be obnoxious and rude. I get it. However, most coaches are very respectful and try to talk to the officials about calls they do not agree with. (Not all I know, but most.) Fans giving umpires, refs, etc. a hard time has been going on forever. To some degree, officials have to expect that when signing up to do the job. Threats and waiting for them after the game is what I would think made some of these guys quit. That kind of stuff should never happen, ever.

To get better! learn how to win big games. Not just coast on talent. You know. Heck they could even go talk to Colby Richards. You know him right? set that up for me on your off period. -
Santos needs to talk with Liz Warren and Joe Biden on how to pull off big lies. They are all POS. How’s that? I’ve always aligned with Republucans because they reflect my conservative views. I, nor any other conservative on this board, have ever claimed there are no scoundrels amongst us.

What is ridiculous? Do you mean the 200 members of a party all think in lockstep? When the Democrats go behind closed doors, are they all robots? Are you saying that there is never a debate or is it that they want to act like they are all the same person? The Dems are like a man and a woman going behind closed doors to talk about an issue. They step out and the woman has a black eye and a bloody lip as they smile and announce that there were no differences in opinion and no debate was needed. Can you imagine what went on when Democrat Senator Joe Manchin behind closed doors told the rest of the Democrats that he was siding with the Republicans on not changing the 200 year rules on the filibuster in the Senate last year? His lone vote shut down a takeover that was ridiculous. I am sure there were group hugs all the way around. The only thing that Republican showed in this case was that everybody does not think the same. The Democrats are the same behind closed doors but they walk out with the bloody wife and smile and say everything was okay. They feel that honesty is best, kept behind the closed doors.

The Tale Of Two Football Cities: Port Neches-Groves And Nederland
Coach85 replied to Reagan's topic in High School Football
I’m a Grovite and have been all my life. I have watched and played Football, Baseball and ran Track while at PNG. I’m not saying that Port Neches hasn’t put out any star athlete’s. But the majority of the better athletes have come from Groves. When I talk about stars from Port Neches, I’m not talking about the kids whose parents grew up in Groves and moved to PN when they got married. I’m talking true blue born in PN and stayed in PN. -

Well you clearly don't know me. Just because I don't agree with you, don't think I'm in anyone's group. I'm not drinking anyone's kool-aid unlike some I see on here especially the ones you mention. Not one single time did I mention anything about Mitchell being elite. Not one time did I mention those others were either too. What I said was that it takes talent to win and those programs have talent and have recruited talent and Mitchell has done well with the talent he has at Lumberton. You don't get to stay at a program for 10 years in a healthy closed school district without being relevant. I'm still unsure what team you are affiliated but It's irrelevant. Im just curious if you could stand behind your home team/program for the past 10 years and see how it matches up to his record. I'm not going to say anything because our program could not. BC has only beaten 1 program in playoffs in 60 years and it was one of these "elite" coaches. BC has nothing to talk about being relevant but we certainly don't disgrace others that are doing better than we have the last decade. -
You sure do talk a lot not to say anything.

You brought it up not me Mr. Stay on Topic. You talk out of both sides of your mouth.

We used to dispatch many/most police calls in 10 codes. We were supposed to transition away from 10 codes a couple of decades ago but a few still linger. With my badge number… “184 10-17, in reference to 10-15 with possible 10-32” Now it would be… “184 speak to John Smith in reference to a disturbance with a person, possibly armed with a knife” What mostly changed is that the types of calls or most no longer in code. Like 10-10/Fight, 10-15/Distbance, etc. although a 10-50/Vehicle accident is still common. If you told one of our officers today to check on a 10-15 with possible 10-10, you would probably just as well be speaking Japanese. Codes that my agency (and all police agencies are different in codes, policy and culture) still uses to make it short, sweet and with no ambiguity are like 10-32 (supposed to mean armed person but most often a firearm) or 10–18 (quickly as possible). If an officer says I need EMS 10-18, it means a person needs medical assistance 5 minutes ago. When the football player Hamlin went down last night on Monday Night Football, that would be EMS 10-18. If it is in reference to the officer himself it typically means I am in deep trouble like Help 10-18 or I need backup 10-18…. usually accompanied by his/her voice going up an octave or two. 9-11 demonstrated the problem with codes as multiple agencies were talking in code probably without realizing that there are several different codes including 10 codes. Some agencies use the words like Code or Signal such as Signal Zero or Code 4 to differentiate from 10 codes. My department has a 5 code for a call disposition with 5 always being the first number like 518 or 521. It means nothing to anyone else. A 518 is short for, see report or, I am writing a report in reference to my call such as robbery, burglary, etc. A 521 means, settled or…. I dealt with these two idiots and I got them to calm down with no more intervention needed. Back when codes first came out (1930s) and most police agencies could only talk to themselves, it really didn’t matter what a code meant. When I retired 18 months ago I had something like 64 radio channels to speak to any fire department, police department, chemical plant emergency operations, etc. in this area.

District favorites for 2023 (any District)?
JackofAll replied to lcm93's topic in High School Football
Let them talk their noise. Let's see how 7 on 7 plays out and if they have 300 to 400 kids in the weight room again this summer. Then people can make their predictions.
