Sure seems like I mentioned 2 of those quality relievers in a post a couple of days ago. They are certainly pitching terrific I know some of you raved about how good they are. Are you sure!

AggiesWeAre, you are absolutely correct, however the record is still not very good, better than more losses than wins, but still not very good

Yes I have committed when things are good also. I am amazed that you never mention wins and losses only stats. There pitching stats are certainly respectable, not counting King and Ort, hitting so-so. They simply have trouble putting the favorable pitching and hitting together. Last night for example, the hitting was ok, however the pitching was really bad. The next game it may be just the opposite or both may be good. Basically as of today there is no consistency and that is why they are 30-26 and yes they are in 2nd place in their division which is nice, however the overall record at this time is not good you need to forget about the stats(I know you can’t because you are a stat person) and worry about the wins and losses. Hopefully they will turn out positive at the end of the season

Y’all must not have watched those 2 last night king didn’t even record an out. It was 3-3 when he came in and 8-3 when they took him out. Ort wasn’t much better If y’all think those 2 are quality pitchers in the major league, y’all must be drinking some crazy stuff. A 4.00 era is not what I would call good A 2 or less yes, bud a 4 no

I tried my best to let you posters know that HCU would be the only SLC team to make it to a regional. The selection committee will not take 2 SLC teams The 2 major reasons: 1. They do not think the SLC is a very good conference 2. There is no revenue and the selection is all about money these days. SLC baseball attendance is poor

HCU will be the only team from the SLC to go to a regional The committee does not like the SLC. A&M will go before another SLC team does

Thanks for the information young pitcher and offense. If that was the Thursday freshman pitcher, he has pitched very well this season I haven’t seen the offense do much in the playoffs, however they are in the regional finals, that is pretty impressive

Man Bulldogs got destroyed Hopefully win the next one to set up a 3rd. Sounds like bats were bad again. Don’t know if they had several errors or pitching got roughed up or a combination

Astros win a couple and lose a couple. Some days pitching is good but poor offense. Some days offense is good but pitching is bad. Sometimes both are ok. As of today 5-21-25 they are an average team Meyers, Pena, 3rd baseball are hitting pretty good Main problem is they can’t find a catcher, 1st baseman, 2nd baseman, and DH that can hit. As of today Alvarez is a big disappointment as well as the 1st and 2nd baseman they aquired Hopefully they will get it going

It appears that the Nederland trainer and head coach were the 1st ones to help the player after the incident Appears that this was just an unfortunate accident. The runner was trying to get to 3rd and the 3rd baseman was trying to get to the pop up, just an unfortunate accident

Bulldogs advance to regional finals with a 6-4 extra inning win. What a super job by the reliever The defense was very good the entire series and the bats woke up today. A nice win and I believe it’s the 1st time they have beaten Georgetown in any sporting event Way to go Dogs

If this happens and it certainly could, it simply means that the 6 or 8 seed in the SLC will be the only team from the SLC to go to a regional as the 4 seed at that regional

You may certainly be right about more than coaches, however the last several coaches haven’t got the job done. I mean they can’t even win a conference championship in any major sport in a very weak SLC. That is why I would say that Lamar’s AD and administration is happy with mediocrity I would think if you wanted success you would make some changes. I know that both basketball teams, baseball, and softball teams choke year after year when conference tournament play begins

The Bulldogs lose 1-0 tonight. Last night they supposedly had 2 hits in the win. Tonight they had another whopping 3 hits. They did have another super mound performance, error by SS in 1st inning was the only blemish Hopefully they will get the bats going tomorrow If not they finish with a nice season and a 3rd round exit

AggiesAreWe is a good poster. Where we disagree is he is a great stat person, but doesn’t realize that it’s the win and losses that count. He also settles for average results. Why would you coach if you don’t strive for excellence I would surely want a coach that has a conference championship goal and one that has their team perform well in the conference tournament knowing that is the only way to make it to a regional or the ncaa basketball tournament. When was the last year that happened Baseball under Gilligan, basketball under Tubbs. Let’s face the fact that Lamar is happy with mediocrity as is AggiesAreWe and I am simply not satisfied with that!

Wound up 40-17, a nice record. Conference play 20-10 not bad. Then get beat in conference tournament by 6 and 7 seeds In Davis’s 9 years he has not came close to a regional invitation. He may have the worst conference record in the SLC what is the AD and administration going to do If I were the AD at Lamar I would search for a coach that can get them to regionals and win SLC championships Davis will never get Lamar’s baseball program to a regional tournament They simply choke in conference tournaments I I know some of you think the AD and administration really care about The athletic programs at Lamar I am not so sure because they don’t win at any major sport and they are in one of the weakest conferences in the nation

Did Nederland even get a hit. Could have given a bunt single in the 1st. Winning run in 6th should have been an error on 3rd baseman. I can’t recall any other hits. Baseball is funny, got outplayed but won the game. Their bats better come alive or they will lose this series. They did play very good defense and the young pitcher is tough I have to give them a big positive for that, however the offense was not good. I have watched all their playoff games and the defense has been pretty darn good except for the loss to Montgomery. The offense has been weaker than well water

The Lamar Cardinal baseball team had a very nice 40-15 regular season record and a 3rd place conference record of 20-10. My question, that I hope someone can answer, is why have they performed so poorly in conference tournament games during Davis’s 9 seasons at Lamar? They just lost to HCU, the 7 seed 6-3

Sure hope they have another good season. The new coach came from Katy and Katy usually plays very good defense, so I am hoping in his second year that the defense improves tremendously. It has been weak the last several years. I don’t know if they don’t know how to teach secondary play or if there is not much talent at those positions. They certainly had a much better season last year, but simply struggled the last few games on defense

Have to win the tournament to get to a regional

Nice sweep and 3 seed with 40 wins. Don’t like the fact that they have to play HCU again. Tough to win 4 straight from another team and if they make it to UTRGV it could be disastrous for some reason they never play well against them

The cardinals tried to choke it up in the 8th and 9th on defense tonight, however they came through in the bottom of the night with 2 clutch hits after a walk with 2 outs The Cardiac Cards came through in the clutch again. Now 39-15 and if they can get the sweep tomorrow then we will see 40 wins in the regular season with a possible 3rd place finish going into the tournament

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, however they tend to win a couple and then lose a couple. Basically playing mediocre as of today and in next to last place. Hopefully you will be right, I just don’t see it now
