  1. 7-9 in August and 1-3 last 4 games with the 3 losses being BAD, so not a good August so far. The problem the last few games is they seem to be playing worse pitching especially relievers has been bad and the hitting has been bad looking at way too many good pitches and swinging at way too many bad pitches hopefully they will get back on track soon
  2. I said it will interesting the way they are playing since the break. They may be around 500 since the break which is not good, however they seem to be getting worse the last couple of weeks. 22-0 the past 2 games is poor we will see if they can right the ship
  3. It is going to interesting to see if the Astros can get to 80 wins this season due to the way they are playing since the All Star break The pitching has been bad the last few games especially the relievers Offensively they continue to play a few players that can’t hit Time will tell if they can turn it around a
  4. Yes, it’s still early after 2 preseason games, however same result the 1st game DL - zero pass rush and not much better vs the run - giving up about 28 a game - DL coaches are doing a poor job of coaching IMO secondary and LB’ers looked they improved a little offensively- Ol not getting coached any better than DL - absolutely no running game, pass protection so so Milton has played 6 of the 8 quarters and been about as bad as you can be - if he is the backup you better hope Prescott doesn’t get hurt hopefully They will improve before next week
  5. Yes it’s early and time will tell. That’s my initial observation , because I don’t think Prescott will make the entire season without getting injured and even though they are playing players trying to make the team, the defense was not good
  6. My observations on the 1st preseason game defense - absolutely zero pass rush and not much better vs the run DL and Secondary looked like they need a lot of work. Couldn’t tell how the LB’ers performed offense - not much of a run game OL didn’t look very good QB - since we know that Prescott gets injured every season, the Cowboys are going to be in trouble this season If Milton is the backup, things look dim. His performance was not good at all After watching this game I am predicting anywhere from 0-17 to 5-12 and a possibility of being last in the east Way to go Jerry
  7. An accurate well written post AggiesAreWe, I appreciate it
  8. Glad they are in 1st and hope they continue to stay in 1st You may not like my posts, however they are pretty accurate This season the ones that made the all stars are the only ones that should have and the players I mentioned that are weak at the plate with the exception of Short have a batting average less than 200 IMO that is not good So once again a pretty accurate post A week ago they had a nice winning streak, the past 6 games no You remind me of the fan that was upset because they keep score or play my son and the best 8. I’ve got to give you credit, you are a great stat man You state that they have the #1 team batting average in the AL, so why is their record not as good as the other division leaders
  9. AggiesAreWe, I know Altuve and the others you mentioned at 1st should be in the lineup, I was talking about the next group that you mentioned (Hummel, Trammell, Short, Whitcomb, Matthew’s, and Corona). You’re tellling me that they have no one else on the bench that can hit better. If that is the case they have done one poor job of player development I I would also add that I asked a simple question, however you who always think my posts are negative, have me quickly realizing that you are one big sourpuss with your negative responses Again it is not about stats, it’s about wins and losses and if they continue to play like these past 6 games, they will fade fast. Hopefully that will not be the case
  10. The Astros are still in 1st and Brown has been good except for his last 2 outings I think the main culprit is that he has been behind in the count too often these past 2 games. It’s hard to get a quality performance when that happens I know that they have a lot of injuries, however I would like AggiesAreWe’s thoughts on why they continue to put players in the lineup that are weak hitters
  11. IMO, the Astros have some quality defensive players, however their hitting this season has not been good. Peña has been pretty decent and Myers is having his best hitting season, but other than those 2 , they haven’t been to good
  12. Really no negativity in my post, simply the reason they struggled vs Cleveland Most people already know that Brown and Hader have been pitching very well The main part of my post is that you can’t score many runs when you are not hitting with people in scoring position
  13. AggiesAreWe, obviously you struggle reading people’s posts The post started with how the Astros were playing good baseball and how the 3 mentioned players were good on defense The statements that were also true was that Brown and Hader had their worst performances of the season. The Astros vs Cleveland did not hit well at all with runners on base. The final truth was that the 3 players mentioned are struggling big time at the plate These are observations about the Cleveland series, nothing more and nothing less For some unknown reason you want to act like everything is negative with my post. The fact is, you are not going to score many runs when you struggle at the plate with runners in scoring position
  14. The Astros have been playing good baseball. Brown and the closer had their worst outing the other day. The big problem vs Cleveland is they are not hitting with runners on. Kimmel, Trammell, and Short are good defensive players, however on offense it is like your hitting with 6. Those 3 are basically automatic outs when they come to the plate(most of the time striking out). Just can’t score many runs when they are in the lineup
  15. Yes AggiesAreWe , the Astros are playing very good right now and the relievers have done a nice job recently Hopefully they will keep it up. Still have a couple of players not hitting but finding a way to win yes you hear the good and bad from me I usually tell it like it is whether you like it or not
  16. I believe Dubon is a gem for the Astros He can play just about any position and comes through in the clutch more times than not at the plate
  17. Yes you are absolutely spot on Lamar hired a good AD and the programs are improving Hopefully they will be winning championships soon
  18. I think I know exactly what a blow out is The truth for this past season for Lamar Football even though they were only 7-5, it was still their best season in many years Mens basketball had their best season in many years 20-13 with only 2 blowout losses to 2 very good teams A&M and Tech. All other losses were close, even the 3 losses to McNeese that had an excellent year and a win in the tournament were close Baseball had a very good regular season record 40-15 In fact the only major sport that did not do well was softball(I don’t count VB as a major sport) So yes Lamar athletics had a very good year I think the biggest disappointment was baseball losing 2 straight in SLC tournament against teams they had defeated in conference. I just don’t know why women’s basketball and baseball do not do well when they get to the conference tournament so yes I do know what a blowout is!
  19. The 2 blow out losses were to A&M and Texas Tech
  20. That statement is as Wally Clever always said giving you the business and it certainly did
  21. So here is my question to you. Now that I know that you understand Lamar is in a weak conference, when is the last year Lamar won the conference title or the conference tournament The real question is why do you think they are better than mediocre? They haven’t won anything in basketball in several years Am I missing something? I agree that men’s basketball, baseball, and football showed improvement this year, however they haven’t won any titles, so IMO they are still mediocre
  22. Txhoops, you may know a lot about basketball, however you don’t seem to understand that Lamar did not win the conference championship or SLC tournament I agree that the SLC is the one they should be in, but don’t try and tell me that the SLC is a strong conference It is one of the weakest in D1 of the NCAA
  23. The subject matter is simple. Did Lamar win the conference championship? Did Lamar win the conference tournament? Obviously the answer is NO, so who are the clueless ones? The sad news is y’all think they are good and let’s remember that they are in one of the weakness D1 conferences in the NCAA I do agree that they belong in the SLC and that they have improved, however they are not what I would call good I am discovering that you 2 don’t really care if they win just as long as you get to watch them play If I am clueless, y’all are really clueless, because it appears that I am the only one that realizes that THEY DID NOT WIN in any major sport!
  24. No argument lost. Once again my expectations are much higher than y’all’s are and I love to get your goat
