  1. Great win for Finney, but the field goal was questionable. It was a high kick, over the uprights, slow motion video seems to indicate it was wide right and was called good. Great game either way, but the win was not without controversy.
  2. Any truth to the rumor that Summer Creek's starting QB's family moved to Huffman and the kid transferred in to Huffman? I am hearing he will be eligible to play this week.
  3. That boy is a stud. Could eventually be the best player to ever come through Hardin (although that’s not saying a ton)......if they will just let Barrier build a program around him.
  4. This. It's called building a program. Hardin will always be Hardin because of this mentality. You have to give someone a chance to create change before you begin attempting to railroad them.
  5. Could've predicted it would go this way.
  6. The best player Barrier has in his program is his son.....and he's on the 7th grade team.
  7. He was literally hired at the absolute last minute, in the middle of COVID, and given a severely sub par roster with which to work. Of course you have to give him more time. I am still surprised he was able to pull a staff together. He needs at least enough to time to filter a few groups through an offseason program to see what might be able to be built there. Those already pointing fingers clearly have no idea what goes into building a somewhat successful program. I'd say the issues in Hardin have less to do with the coaches, and more to do with the gene pool.
  8. So wait, two posts with references to Larry Haynes? Interesting. The best part is, it's not like Larry Haynes would be doing any better with this group of kids. They weren't exactly setting the world on fire last year, or any year Haynes was in Hardin. This is why Hardin will never have any success. Coaches don't get a chance to build something there. A town who has never won anything, expecting to win immediately......unless your name is Larry Haynes. Haynes can lose all he wants.....somehow, he's got most of town convinced he's a genius.
  9. My absolute favorite thing on this board is when the pee wee coaches chime in after a loss and criticize the head man on the varsity team. As if Matthews is ruining all of talent he developed by not throwing the ball. lol.
  10. Lol. Like WH football was ever anything to brag about??
  11. Where will the Huffman v Vidor game be?
  12. Tap the brakes.
  13. Sounds like the new coach was making some changes.
  14. They better. This one will be great!
  15. Splendora had their moments against CH. In the end, they were just outmatched by better athletes and scheme. At the end of the day, they are a smashmouth type of team and will be a good challenge for Huffman in the weeks upcoming. My hope is the Falcons continue to improve and settle in at the skill positions that were vacated by many big time seniors last year.
  16. Does this have anything to do with CCs abrupt coaching change this off season? Often times, over zealous school board members who feel like they should be stacking state championships learn that they're not as smart at they thought.
  17. Agree with this assessment. Apart from the right tackle, who is a pretty good sized kid, they looked small on the O line. Having said that, Stafford had some really big kids on both lines, so that may have contributed. The Falcons didn't look as explosive as last years team, but they are also working with very limited practice time as opposed to years past. Lots of variables make it hard to get a real good feel based on only one game. Losing Shivley and San Miguel are big blows for the Falcons. They will need players to step up and fill in those spots to replicate last year's district success.
  18. Will they play the games (assuming the season makes it there) in Arlington this year? Has the UIL said anything about this?
  19. So, if we halt teacher pay, who builds that curriculum for the online learning? Are you going to do that? I'm assuming not since you don't have the time to make sure your kids are getting their work done without standing over the top of them. Also, don't assume most teachers aren't ok with going back to work. As we have learned in today's climate, just because a groups voices are louder than the rest doesn't mean they represent the majority. Trumps election in 2016 proved that to be the case.
  20. Oh no doubt. At the smaller schools, that would be nearly a 10% pay cut for people who are already earning below minimum wage for the hours they put in. I don't understand how the district can do that when these guys/ladies have a contract. Aren't those stipends written into their contract?
  21. This is quite the stretch. The kid would obviously have to be enrolled in the ISD to qualify. The better point is the one made about COVID concern in a classroom, but not on a football field. That should be enough to put an end to the argument.
  22. Only the stipends are being considered for non-payment, correct? I would assume, their teacher and administration salaries are safe because they still have to perform those duties?
  23. Whoa big fella. Barrier is a good one, but he ain't no witch doctor.
