  1. If not meant to discredit his own merit in receiving the position at Baylor, why did it get brought up? A better way to say it would be to mention the success of his father and brother and applaud the continuation of that with the younger son. You didn't do that, you prefaced with "not to take anything away from him", and then made a statement that took something away from him.
  2. Yeah, opportunities forged by the hard work and success of his father, not only in the coaching profession, but in modeling what a successful coach looks like to both of his sons. His older brother was a star at Baylor as a QB, then was a successful HS coach which afforded him the opportunity to return and be hired at Baylor. Shawn was retained through a coaching transition so he must be pretty good at what he does also. Brian just won a state championship and knocked off both WOS and Carthage on the way to the trophy. But yeah, it's all about connections and opportunities others don't have. That's why he's a success. This argument is weak. The idea that fathers cannot forge a legacy which benefits not only himself and his immediate family, but also future generations of the family is insane. That's the goal of every father, to give their children opportunities either they didn't have, or had to break walls down to receive. No one is stopping anyone from breaking their own walls down and creating the same type of legacy for their family, but it's must easier, and more popular in 2021, to lay down, cry "privilege", and put your hand out to be given something you didn't work one second for. The children we are raising under this ideology have an interesting situation in front of them. Many of them will choose to be victims and will remain victims for the remainder of their lives. Some will see this for what it is, and understand that competition to get to the top will be less fierce than it has been in years past because the number of "victims" has increased. I hope some of them take the opportunity seriously and grab it. Congrats Coach Bell.
  3. No one is coming from a large school in DFW to take over WOS, and even if they do, they will build their credibility as a HC and leave the first chance the get at a bigger job back in DFW. WOS would do well to hire Foreman and attempt to continue the tradition of having a head coach plan to stay until retirement at WOS. If they inject themselves into the rat race, it could be a long tumble into mediocrity for the program. Toby is the safe hire. If he fails, then you can jump into the rat race. Just my opinion.
  4. I guess the rumor mill is quiet on this one. I am hoping Liberty can land someone who can begin to make some changes there. It begins with getting kids to buy into the program and the direction it wants to go. My fear is, even if they hire someone who can get them going in the right direction, the methods and grind needed to create that winning culture will be too much for the kids in the system. It will take a full scale culture change for Liberty to expect any success any time soon.
  5. Can tickets be purchased online for this one like last year or will they only be available at the gate?
  6. Of course he does. It's the way of the world these days. Forget the fact that Zach was sent home the night before a highly anticipated state championship rematch in the premier state for high school football in the nation, or that he was suspended earlier in the same season for behavioral issues. He is clearly being targeted for "some other reason".
  7. Why are Shiner and Refugio playin on Thursday night?
  8. To be fair, this project began under the Trump administration and is a JV with the Saudis.
  9. Not surprised to hear Tepper is using it....seems like a very Tepper thing to do. lol
  10. It just feels so unnecessary and takes away some of the mystique of that Mustangs D. Not many high schools have a moniker attached to a specific phase of their football team, and that is something that matters in high school. Eh, just something I was thinking about.
  11. Is this still a thing, or has everyone calmed down? I do not think I have ever heard this used by anyone for anything.
  12. Any word on who might be in on this one?
  13. This line of thinking is exactly what has created the downturn in society over the past several decades. Parents never pushing their kids to take personal responsibility for their choices or their role in bad situations. Even if all of what you said is true, your teaching your son to lay down and cry when things aren't fair. That's not a life lesson that will serve him well. I highly doubt Mac's staff would have lasted as long as it has had he run his program this way.
  14. This is music to my ears. I have hoped you fools in Hardin would begin to turn on Barrier so he would pack his stuff and take that incredible son of his somewhere where he has a real chance to shine. Fools is what you guys have always been and it is what you will always be. Someone already mentioned it, but Anthony Morgan could've been a Hornet, but alas, his father wasn't good enough for you guys. This story will end the same. You guys can sit at Hardin grocery and talk about how the kid was "almost a Hornet" while you recycle Haynes for the 10,000th time. Geez

  17. This seems like a good prediction. LCM is on the come up, but Huffman is already there.
  18. What made you think that?
  19. Can Barrier start his 8th grade son at QB for Hardin Varsity? That kid is the best player in that program and may end up being the best player Hardin has ever seen if they can keep Barrier at Hardin. Good luck with that though. I feel some other power programs in the state may be offering Ned OC positions in the next year or so.
  20. Scat, clearly you are part of the problem in Tarkington. I do not believe for one second that Bass M-F'd kids at halftime. He was always going to be a short timer in Tarkington and the only way that would've changed was if the community rallied around the program and things began to change. Clearly that didn't happen and was never going to happen. I am sure you will enjoy him being the head coach of successful 5A and 6A programs into the future while Tarkington continues to be what they've always been.
  21. Surely youre not talking about Bass.
  22. I think they are just above the threshold.
  23. Ned Barrier, man. I've been trying to tell y'all.
