I have seen with my own eyes, entire wings of new campuses vacant during the school year but built anyway in anticipation of growth. They do that to avoid overcrowding. School grows, open the new wings. Incredible foresight and planning.
-
My understanding is that bond you speak of was posted and passed to avoid some kind of robin hood taxes the district would've had to pay otherwise. Now, don't quote me on that, but I remember reading about it in the school's social media announcement of the bond being put up, and the guys at work talking about it. Someone more versed on school finance may be able to speak more intelligently on it.

If any district can be trusted to stay ahead of the growth and be good stewards, it's BH. The planning that has gone into the new campuses and sustaining adequate space when experiencing exploding growth, has been a marvel to watch. I work over here and have heard from residents that BH has only passed one bond in the history of the district? Anyone know if that is true? If so, wow is all I can say. I'm also interested to see if Enterprise or any of the other local operators is contributing to the project. I know that happens quite a bit and is a major benefit for BHISD.

Any names?

At this point, just make it a recurring post about this time every year.

What an ignorant comment. He had great success at Jasper, and they are paying the price for having expectations of beating Carthage when he was there and pressuring for a change. A lot of schools would be lucky to have a guy like Barbay and, if he has the desire, I hope someone will bring him back to the great state where he belongs!
-
Congrats Coach Barbay, now get back to Texas where you belong! lol

Eh, I once saw a 4A D1 district right down the street from WF post their AD/HC job on THSCA with a starting salary of $84k. Clearly an attempt to say they posted with no real intention of going outside the fold for replacement. We will see what WF does.

This is a fact. My kids stood in line for hot chocolate for most of the 3rd quarter and when they finally made it up there they were out. BISD at it's finest...... -

Eh, at least half of the second deck on the PAM side was empty. Maybe they could've stood in the endzone like that Principal and dance. -

So freaking excited for this one!

Man, HH must’ve woken up this year and learned how to coach. They wanted this man run out of town last year and now he’s in the state semifinals? Crazy how quickly things changed. Congrats WOS! Finish the job.

Injury, new coach, new staff, new teammates. All those. It gelled at the right time and they’ve hit their stride. Let’s hope it keeps ascending and BH can keep it rolling. -

Hold up. If I’m not mistaken, you were calling for the lefty less than a month ago. -
Barbers Hill (43) Austin Anderson (30)---FINAL

It seems like BH is peaking at the right time. Barrier played his absolute best game of the season against Anderson, and they are teed up with a very winnable game against Weiss. Weiss's QB can spin it so BH needs to shore up a couple of things in the secondary in order to win. Overall, things are looking good for the Eagles. Confidence is a hell of a drug. -
Yoakum vs Hardin at Cypress Friday Nov 28 Regional Semifinals
2wedge replied to kirkwood29's topic in High School Football
My biggest question mark on Hardin going into the playoff is whether the bigger stages would cause them to get sh*t in their necks and fold. Last week, at a premier stadium, against a team full of great athletes, in a closely contested game, Hardin answered those questions for me. Now, the stadium gets bigger, the athletes get better, and the stage lights get brighter. Playing after Thanksgiving for the first time in maybe ever, they will get a chance to prove it again. The old adage goes, "There ain't any turkeys left after Thanksgiving", and Hardin has proven they ain't no turkey. -
What?! Don’t keep us waiting! Lol

As much as I hate BC running from competition I’m the district they should be in, honestly, they would have a good chance to win that one too. Either way, the eeked out a 1 pt win against a team missing their best player and QB. Unfortunate for Huffman, losing that game means a trip to Kilgore and a murderous rd 1 game on the road. hats off to James Nevil for stepping in and playing well last night. An amazing performance in a bad spot. Many will focus on the INT that sealed the game and the open RB in the flat that would’ve put them into FG position, and I’ll bet Nevil will focus on that too. But, if you’re reading this young man, you played your ass off and have nothing to hang your head about. Looking forward to watching you next year as a senior.

Both have since retired, so unless Liberty County decides to pursue some type of charges, or the victims go after them in civil court, I'd expect this to be the last time we hear of this.
