  1. Matt Stepp is a treasure, sir. You watch you dirty mouth!!!!!
  2. Foreman would be a great hire for the Bulldogs.
  3. Any word on the Huffman girls basketball season? I know this is a talented group but their record isn't necessarily reflecting that. Any one have any idea what's going on there?
  4. The real issue with the transfer portal isn't the portal itself, it's the student athlete's addiction to the attention the recruiting cycle brings, and the portal gives them an avenue to scratch that itch. These kids are made into mega starts as youngsters, then they sign, and if they do not achieve stardom immediately, they retreat back to the process that made them feel like a star in the first place. It's really easy to get used to being the big man on campus when you are heralded in high school but takes another type of dude to realize that it takes serious hard work to gain BMOC status at the D1 level.
  5. This is pretty simple if you understand the culture in LH. The varsity staff works with all coaches at all levels, even into little league, to teach the Slot T offense. The varsity coaches have monthly meetings with the little league coaches and get scouting reports on players coming up through the program so when they get into the 7th grade, the coaches already know who is who and who plays where. It is taught the same way in the 4th grade as it is taught at the varsity level, so the kids understand it and want to operate in that offense. Any dads who think their kids are going to be division 1 receivers and QBs take their kids elsewhere so that the only ones who are left are the ones who are committed to thriving in the slot T. This is the product of consistency in program leadership for many many years and the commitment of that leadership to build a successful program from the bottom up. Therefore, to replicate what LIberty Hill has is absolutely impossible without long term commitment and community buy in. Vidor has/had too many folks always looking for a reason to run Matthews off and complaining about the Slot T to even begin to try to replicate what Liberty Hill has.
  6. So who is going to file the formal complaint against DISD regarding basketbal? Ya know, there's this saying about glass houses.....
  7. What was the last offense Bridge City had real success in? Wasn't it when Dubose was there? Didn't he run the Slot/Wing T?
  8. I thought Stark had done a pretty good job at Hemphill. Was that not the sentiment of the community?
  9. Todd was more busy organizing "white outs", ordering custom jackets and shoes, and talking about breaking the attendance record than he was preparing his team for the game. That is why SOC was beaten when they took the field. Bravado and flash are all fun and games until you get punched in the mouth. And don't forget walking onto the field to start the game. Humble pie isn't easy to swallow when you relish the spotlight as much as he does. Hell, I'll bet he had his afterparties already set up like he did last year. Some of the videos from the parties he was at after last year's game made me lose a lot of respect for him as a leader of men. Pride always comes before the fall Coach Todd. There is a new Sheriff in 5ADII.
  10. I'd think the PNG folks would have a legitimate gripe with having a Nederland grad officiating their game. Bottom line is this, that call didn't cost them the game. It was the right call and wasn't made by the official who lives in Port Neches. Todd sounds like a crybaby bringing it up.
  11. So your argument is that Jason Todd's coaching is not up to Jeff Joseph's level? That's nonsense. Todd can run with the best of them in the state and then some. Of course you have to have talent, but coaching is what makes talent successful. Lots of talented teams are going home early every year because of subpar coaching. Not too many great coaches are making early exits because they lack supreme talent. Of course, there are also those coaches who coach 5 division 1 defensive backs and even that level of talent isn't enough to ensure they can stay on the sidelines......
  12. 3 high schools in 3 years for the young man......can't imagine his family would be in favor of that.
  13. I read that article too and thought the same thing. No mention of aligning the district with subvarsity teams as was stated earlier in the thread. The guy basically just said they were trying to get out of one of the toughest districts in the state so they could make the playoffs. Not a good look at all.
  14. You are correct, it is not little league coaching to strategize to stop the opponents best weapons, but it is little league coaching to assume that strategy was not part of the game plan coming in. I assure you, the entire BH staff knew about the biggest weapons on the Richland team as of late Friday night of last week and were scheming to shut them down. That plan was in place and wasn't properly executed. Sometimes, the other team is just better than you. Do I believe Richland was the better team overall? No. Do I believe they were the much better team in the second half and executed their game plan to perfection? Yes. Blowing big leads in the second half is indicative of players who take their foot off of the gas and aren't up for the challenge of fighting back to the accelerator when they get punched in the mouth. Richland proved they have those types of kids, BH has proven several times this year that they don't. Abseck's biggest challenge in the offseason is trying to produce a little dog in his guys so they know to put their foot on the neck of a downed opponent and finish them off. This point was illustrated by highly criticized 2 pt conversion try in OT. It was the right call because Abseck knew what I knew while watching the game, if the XP was kicked, and Richland was given possession, they would've scored and punched in the 2 for the win. BH's only shot of winning that game was to put it in a position where Richland couldn't control the ultimate outcome of OT.
  15. Boy, all the little league coaches are out in force on this thread. Do you guys not think they watched plenty of film and game planned for what Richland would do offensively? Do you not think the BH coaches built that game plan in such a way that if it was executed properly they believed they were in the best position to win? Varsity coaches rarely call a time out and tell their players to "crash every play" and "hit #1 in the mouth whether he has the ball or not". Those are things you say when you call a timeout during your 9:00 am game full of 4th graders on Saturday. The story of this game is the letdown after halftime and how momentum is a mother. It's hard to blow a huge lead like they did and be able to plug the holes in the boat in real time. The coaching staff did a excellent job all season and just got caught in the second half on Friday. Back to the drawing board for BH.
  16. When this guys said "they don't have the size on the OL to continue this Slot T mafia offense", it was clear he has no idea what he is talking about. Keep talking about the glory days pops and leave the coaching to the guys who know what they're doing.
  17. Can you explain why this one and not the Jasper/Silsbee matchup? I'd just be curious to hear your rationale.
  18. Yes. Me and you both know that was a false narrative.
  19. The loss of last year's QB is clearly hurting Anahuac.
  20. The rumors of Hardin's demise are greatly exaggerated. Doesn't mean Snell won't retire after this year, but also means she may stay aboard for one more ride with the kids coming up.
