  1. Ah I see. Your son was being recruited as an "edge rusher" and since he wasn't being used for "edge rushing" you assumed all his dreams would die due to Reyes scheme on defense. A scheme that just won you and your "edge rusher" son a district title in a district with LCM, Huffman and Vidor, and a pretty good chance at a DEEP playoff run. Don't worry, I am sure your son will still be allowed to "edge rush" at Austin College, or whatever program told him he was being recruited as an "edge rusher".
  2. Yeah. First round playoff games in the slop are normal things. Often times it benefits one team over the other and has always been seen as part of the game. These decisions to adjust game times and days to avoid playing in the rain are soft as baby bleep.
  3. Oh Please tell me Ol' Tomcat Lilley is on that staff with yall over there!!
  4. I agree with that. The group coming up is loaded for sure. Unfortunately, I think something is going to have to happen in Huffman to inject some new life into the football program, something to create excitement, and I am not sure the powers that be are willing to do anything differently than they have been doing. I have friends there who go to home games and say the crowds are tiny and not interested in the game at all. The community needs and the kids need something to get excited about again. Probably a full scale culture change.
  5. I absolutely agree with everything you said here. My only question pertains to #1, with Dayton's open enrollment status, their clear commitment to becoming a local power again, and the buzz that is starting to surround that program, do you think more will go to Dayton in the near future? Those younger classes have decisions to make when it comes to the football program and, really, those decisions need to be made this offseason. What's the feel around the community with the new coaching staff? Is the confidence still there? I only ask because I know it was kinda "meh" during the hiring process this offseason and struggling like they have this year couldn't have helped that.
  6. If Crosby loses this week, are their playoff chances shot?
  7. Man. This is a pathetic comment. If I hand my kids over to a coaching staff for many many hours a year, during one of the most formidable periods of their lives, they are indeed helping raise my children. I institute morals and standards at home, but the influence of coaches (and teachers for that matter) play a huge role in children's development. It's not easy to understand what was being said unless you are looking for error, which clearly you are.
  8. Short memories on this board forget, it wasn't too long ago that Dayton dominated those golden triangle teams year in and year out. Dayton isn't the new kid on the block, they're the kid that has been down on his luck recently. The culture and expectation is there, now the play and coaching is starting to match what the community requires. Watch them become a power again....it's starting as we speak.
  9. Stud Sophomores are already on varsity in most situations. That renders JV results worthless to everyone except the kids and parents who are involved in the game.
  10. Don’t let unrealistic expectations from others on message boards lead you to disparaging a 15 year old kid. Kid is good, he didn’t call himself top 10 in the nation. He just shows up and works and is a very very good prospect. Even in a loss last night, you could see that. Dischler is also quite the player. No need to step on one in order to elevate the other.
  11. Guess birds play calling is back in full effect
  12. Great game. Wack just couldn’t defend the T and the zebras blew the bounce pass in the 4th. Eh, shake it off and get ready for next week panthers!
  13. Anahuac wins by two TDs. Orangefield can't slow down the Anahuac offensive attack and Neece and company will have the Anahuac D ready to roll.
  14. You could be right on all of the above, who knows. I don't know the family as well as my posts might suggest, I just know what I've been told and know their reputation around the area. Good small town folks.
  15. However you want to frame it, he asked for certain assistants and was told no. Whether it was no because they didn't want to hire, or whether they said no because those he was trying to bring in weren't "math" teachers or whatever. Bottom line, if Hardin was committed to building the football program, they'd do whatever they had to do to keep quality coaches and players in the program, and they don't/didn't. As far as the AD being someone who has been around there for a while and he carries the title for stability, if the issue was the AD changing every 3-4 years because the football coach would leave, now you can bet on losing a football coach every 1-2 years without that AD title to make him want to stay around. And for the record, Hardin would be able to keep an AD/HFC more than 3-4 years if they'd leave him alone and let him do his job. Give him what he needs, support the program, and tell your board members to stay out his personnel decisions, and they might actually keep one for a while.
  16. Negative hammer. There was a guy on here once saying he was a cousin, but he ain't me and I ain't him. Just a guy repeating what he was told by one of Hardin's finest supporters and sellers of Ford vehicles. Not sure where that guy roams these days, but I assure he is lurking.
  17. Eh, this isn't even close to true. Dad didn't bolt Hardin to give QB better chance at success only, but also the chance to have an excellent high school football experience, as well as a chance to win. Brady would've had success at Hardin had they stayed, but he would've always been limited in his ability to make a real run at BIG success. Brady can do well at Anahuac and get all the exposure he wants on the summer camp circuit. It is much more important to his parents that he get an education and get to experience life as a well adjusted kid, rather than bounce from high school to high school for exposure. Only way he ever leaves Anahuac is if Coach Dad gets an opportunity as a AD/HC somewhere in the next 4 years, and I honestly don't think he would do that to Brady. Panthers got this one for the long haul. Now, rather than overanalyze a 15 year old country kid's future, lets just enjoy watching him develop and lead a pretty good Panther squad through the rest of the season!
  18. The coach is more than qualified to hold any job on Anahuac's staff, including HC. He just happens to have son who is an excellent player. I'd say having top tier coaches as his dad and grandpa, who have raised him in field houses since his infancy has a little something to do with 5s ability.
  19. And the best opponents they will see all year were in those first 5 games. Sky is the limit.
