  1. Huffman is terrible.
  2. From what I have gathered, it was a question of resourcing the program in the way that could set them up for success in the future. Barrier needed more assistants in order to elevate the program from a coaching perspective. Keep in mind, Barrier wasn't even the AD at Hardin, just the HFC. That is another issue and made it extremely easy for him to leave to be an assistant in another district. It wasn't like he was walking away from an administrators salary to take an assistant role at Anahuac. The younger Barrier is a generational talent and would've been the best player Hardin football had ever seen, and his dad is a damn good coach also. I am not sure anything would've been able to keep them there, but Hardin didn't even try. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Hardin has too many hands in the cookie jar over there. Small town politics at it's finest. Board members and parents who are not realistic in their expectations. They let Anthony Morgan get out of the gate years ago, and Barrier will be the next one they will regret for decades.
  3. Anahuac is much better than anyone is giving them credit for. They hung tight for three quarters with a Newton team who has a win over WOS this season, and handily beat the #9 team in the state, New Waverly, a couple of weeks ago. I expect them to roll through this district and by November, they will have garnered some attention state wide. Playoffs are always a crap shoot so we will see how that goes, but this is the beginning of the ascension for the Panthers. They have a Freshman QB, who may very well be the best QB in that district, and several sophomore skill players who are playing like seasoned vets. If you are a Panther fan, expect many deep runs and potential AT&T visits in the next 4 years.
  4. Anahuac by as many as they decide to hang.
  5. Well heck. You'd think every school in the state would take advantage of a deal like that.
  6. I have a friend who is in the know on these types of things, and he has told me it's pretty expensive for these districts to contract with Texan Live. Especially when most schools are now supporting AV departments who are capable of streaming live on YouTube for much less. Anahuac does this on their channel "Anahuac Sports Live", and the video and audio quality is significantly better than what you sometimes get on Texan Live.
  7. Or, Bird made the decision on his own because he's a good coach. Not because he heard it from the stands. Maybe?
  8. You still upset with Bird's unwillingness to ruffle feathers, his choice of QB, or his poor coaching decisions that have led to kids leaving the program?
  9. No one said he was going to be run out of town, but stating the obvious, the hire will be questioned more than it already has been if these types of beatdowns continue. It doesn't get any easier once district begins.
  10. Another opportunity for Anahuac to show they are the real deal and that the Freshman QB can battle with some of the best teams in the state.
  11. Huffman is in trouble. They don't look particularly prepared and Silsbee exposed them last Friday. Buchta has to get it corrected or the whispers are going to begin around town and the program. Everyone's happy with the hometown kid until the hometown kid starts 0-3, 0-4 or 0-5. I think they can right the ship, but it needs to start this week.
  12. AAW, if you had to grade the Freshman on his first start against the #3 team in the state, and arguably the most dominant program ever in the SETX area, how would you grade him?
  13. I thought Neece said Barrier was his Quarterbacks Coach. Is Neece the OC?
  14. Who is the play caller?
  15. The Freshman QB is a difference maker in Anahuac. 21 passing attempts in the first half……totally different team than last year.
  16. Will this game be streamed anywhere?
  17. EC was absolute garbage prior to Andy Evans arriving and changing absolutely everything for that program moving forward. He did a phenomenal job, not only winning football games, but changing the culture of EC athletics as a whole. They need to put a statue of him out there somewhere or name the stadium after him....something....
  18. So inaccurate. Do a little research before you make yourself look like a fool. The change.org petitions are still out there, full of players signing and justifying the signing by saying they wanted him to stay. An out of control school board member pushed him out because they wanted Haynes back in Hardin.
  19. Maybe to, but it wasn't long. Did he quit? yes. Was he run out of town by out of control adults? also yes.
  20. Wow. Quite the statement only one week into practice. Sounds like someone has an axe to grind and would rather create chaos in the program than try to help it along. Good luck with that.
  21. IMO, this could be true, but its hard to believe. If they did unenroll 3 kids, snapshot happens, then they re-enroll them, that's fishy as heck. Maybe admin didn't know, and Gamble was utilizing a tactic his dad used years ago and that's what did him in at Alto. I am sure the truth will leak out someday.
  22. Are we sure this was an administrative blunder, or do we think Alto purposely held the 3 kids out in order to fall below the cut line. Based on Gamble's resignation and the smoke surrounding that, I am working under the assumption that this was intentional and I'd expect we will see more heads roll as a result of it.
  23. A sure 2 year ban. No way they will get 100% of the vote in two different districts to move back up to D1 next year. Chances are the coach they just hired will be gone after this year and Alto will suffer the negative effects of this issue for years to come. That's a huge blow to a declining program in a town that's on the decline also. I am curious if any of this is tied into why Gamble left abruptly. I figured when he took that job he would be there for a long time, so when he resigned, I assumed something was going on behind the scenes that no one was aware of.
  24. While I completely agree with that 89 should have better things to do than criticize the few people who are actually trying to keep this website going after the loss of WOSgrad and AAW......Splendora with nicer houses? Come on man.....we've earned a little more credit than that. Jdawg, thank you for continuing to do the work you are doing so far this year to maintain the quality of this board. I'd assume we will never again find men line WOS and AAW who will put in the work to make this site what it has been, but I applaud your efforts to try and keep it afloat. I know there are talented contributors from each city represented here, I just wish there was a way to bring them into the fold and utilize those talents. It seems that these days time is short for all of us and adding anything extra is crippling. Ignore the idiots who occasionally poke their heads up out of the sand.
