Englebert got a reaction from Bigcam2903 in Let's pick on another school district for a while
I have read/heard many stories where a student had to change shirts, had the wrong hairstyle, pants too baggy, etc because his/her dress style could be distracting to a learning environment. But a teacher that is a man dressed as a woman....no, that's not distracting at all.

About half of the individuals in this country also pay an "effective" tax rate of ZERO. At least the corporations that you like to malign employ people. -
Englebert reacted to baddog in Capital Cronyism?
Indians were not American citizens and if things hadn't developed the way they did, we would not be on computers discussing it on this board. Show me any new country in history that was formed without the killing of the aborigines and the takeover of their land. It is certainly not unique to America. -
Englebert reacted to stevenash in Conundrums
Conundrums
The definition of the word Conundrum is: something that is puzzling or confusing. With that in mind, check out the following email message. If this isn't confusing, I don't know what is!!!
The six contradictions of socialism in the United States of America:
1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
Think about it! And that, my friends, pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st Century.

Englebert reacted to AHUDDLESTON in WILL BISD/ADMIN. INDEFINITELY KEEP OZEN ON HOLD
I don't even try to pretend to know what will happen in court. I do know that when I have been hired at a school, I always get a letter of intent to hire immediately and then wait for the school board meeting to approve the contract. Without the LOI, I do not know how the lawsuit will end up. Remember McDonalds had to pay for coffee being too hot!!! :)

if we're this worried about distractions, the only answer is to completely seperate boys and girls from middle school on. i guarantee you girls beginning to turn into young women is much more distracting to young males than some kid's long hair or questionable t-shirt.

A couple of those questions have "no" for an answer. I'm on record as not supporting him. People on here often confuse asking for truthful articles and not blindly supporting lies about liberals as being a "koolaid drinker." I find it ironic, because one of you guys will post a false article from western journalism, and everyone gulps it down, then gets pissed when I dispute it, even if I can prove it erroneous or misleading. Not supporting Obama does not mean I'm required to swallow every fake article about him, although you'd think so based on the responses I get whenever I choose not to blindly believe it. Smitty is the king of posting ridiculous articles that seldom have any validity, and even more seldomly do they come from a reputable source. That was the basis of my original comment, not any "drooling" over Obama. -

Englebert reacted to Peppermint Patty in Hempstead principal fired after requiring students to speak English on campus
It's a double edged sword.
On one hand, these students need to "practice" speaking English in order to assimlate into the educational/cultural environment. The ultimate goal is to speak English as a Second Language (ESL).
On the other hand, many of the students that are "new arrivals" need to speak their native language simply to navigate through the school day.
I think the principal had good intentions, but approached it from the wrong direction. I'm not so sure she should have been fired. She probably should have simply been put on a Growth Plan in reagrd to the issue at hand. We are all subject to re-education from time to time.

Englebert reacted to LumRaiderFan in Who would you pick to represent the GOP in the next election?
I would like to see Rand Paul because I am more in line with his views than anyone else.
He is a small gov fiscal conservative with much more sensible views on foreign policy than his Dad.
That being said, I don't know if he will be electable in 2016....more of an evaluation of the voters rather than Paul.
All the most viable candidates for the GOP in 2016 are more of the same big gov spenders that will continue to go along with increasing the federal debt...hopefully that will change.
But, they will at least be on the right side of Second Amendment and military issues...IF they can beat Hillary. -
Englebert reacted to LumRaiderFan in Rutgers faculty protest Condoleezza Rice as commencement speaker
Many liberals in our institutes of higher learning would rather suppress a conservative viewpoint than debate it...much easier to form those young minds if they only hear one side.

Englebert reacted to Eagle11 in Interesting article about Obama's foriegn policy
And ignorance is shown in one ill performed sentence. Had I said BOY I would have had my post deleted, been blasted as a racist and probably been blocked (but this is another discussion for another day).
The facts are the facts, this president is more aimed at keeping his political agenda alive than being a problem solver. I prefer the words of one of your democrat presidents....."ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country".........the answer is, get of the teet and work and pay into the system, not draw out of it. Welfare has gone from an assistance program to a way of life for many and that is not right no matter what your political affiliation or race. There are those that need this system but there are far too many that abuse it out of pure laziness and the "somebody owes me" mentality.

Englebert reacted to Eagle11 in Interesting article about Obama's foriegn policy
It isn't far off.........food stamps have increased by 49% to 70% under obama depending on what article you read. But, our veterans and service men and women are having their benefits cut. Why do we take better care of those who can work but refuse to than those who defend our country? Hey, I know the answer........me, over here.........One group votes a different way than the other group...........allegedly.
I think it is fun to ask those at tha walmart questions when they are checking out and are buying 2" thick ribeyes, lobster, snow crab legs......$400 worth on Lone Star cards while most of us working folks are getting hamburger meat, mac n cheese and such.........but then it gets good, the beer, wine, cigarettes and cigars are next. This chick pulls a wad of money out of her pocket that the local pimp would be proud of and pays cash for the extras. This here isn't counting the $400 or so work sugar momma got done at the hair and nail salon earlier in the day (the weave was awful by the way). Her 6 kids in tow ain't wearin no Walmart clothes either.........Jordans, Sean John and those $80 saggin drawers. But it isn't over yet.......it is just getting good.......she heads out and loads the food, kids, extras and the nasty a$$ weave in a Navigator rollin on 22's.
Ain't America great.....can I get an amen?
