  1. Let's give Hemphill credit for beating the teams they played. Yes, the (5) teams they played are pretty bad and most being 2A, but Hemphill handled their business. As for their matchup with Newton this year and with Newton clicking on all cylinders, the game probably will not be close. But that is okay, Hemphill is still a decent team and is having a great year.

What the haters, the I want you to win but hope you lose people, or folks who just don't know.

The seniors on this team have ran a different offense every year of their highschool career. This one being nothing close to the other ones. Yes, it's shaky at times but the DAWGS have proven that skill set and talent is there  to be explosive(Palestine and Franklin games are proof)  C C (Coach Crumedy) has openly said that if it gets to where he just don't think the players can handle it , he will change to something they can. The current seventh grade class is his to implant a program that is practiced and improved thru repetition, developing kids skillsets all the while putting kids in the right positions to play that best suites them and the team. Look at the sustained success at schools like Liberty Hill and Carthage. Completely opposite offensive schemes but proof that if you perfect your craft it works.

C C said (and I may be off 1 or two( +/-) on the exact #) but I gonna say our Jr high participation numbers between 7th and 8 th grade was 67 players(wow).  "Scary good" he described the upcoming classes as.

Hopefully the program is heading in the right direction. Jasper has some really good coaches. With a couple years under Crumedy, I think Jasper will start making long playoff runs. Also, 67 middle school players is impressive. I remember my 8th grade year in Newton which was only 14 years ago; we had (10) players and had to bring up (2) seventh graders just to make a team. However, we did go undefeated. 😂

This is so true. I always felt that CT and his staff did their best coaching job in 2018. Remember that was right after 4 straight trips to Dallas. The talent level seemed to have dropped that year and at one point the Mustangs were 2-3 just like this year. But even though they were struggling early you could tell there was improvement each week. They ended up winning district and going 4 rounds deep. I still think without the monsoon they played Silsbee in, they would have won that game and advanced to the semifinal. But that’s an argument that’s already been hashed over many times so no need to go over that again. Point is even with talent level not as high as normal the coaching staff that year did an outstanding job of getting the kids ready, coaching them up and putting them in situations where they could be the most successful.

I agree with you here. That was a great coaching year. Four straight trips to state, then player personnel dropping and supposedly a "rebuilding year", then boom, a 4th round appearance. It was quite impressive.

  4. I know Jasper folks aren't going to like this, but I think Jasper would be better this year with the ole Barbay offense. With Bronson as the DC, I think they are just fine. He's an energetic and defensive guy. However, I just don't think Jasper has the personnel to be a really good spread offense. I have never personally seen HF play, but I believe it will be a good game this year being HF is better than they usually are. I'm still going with Jasper! Go little puppies, go!

  5. WOS looses to PNG and Newton, which has happened many of times with the prior coaching staff, and everyone thinks it is strictly on the new coaches. Cornell lost to both teams as well. WOS does not win every game of every season, so why act like it? Newton beats WOS regular as of lately, not just this year. WOS will be okay, and in my opinion, looked like a regular WOS team, other than the 4 consecutive state runs.

  6. WOS can still win a district championship. The past is the past. In all, they have lost to two good teams.  Loosing to good teams doesn’t mean you’re not good when it comes to WOS. It is getting them better and more hungry hopefully. Newton went 1-3 to start the season back in 14’ I think and then made it to the state championship. The outsiders thought Newton was bad, but they lost to good teams that made them better helped them play 16 games that year.

  7. Woodville definitely can have their props. I’m proud of Woodville and hope they have a good season. However, I truly believe Newton would beat Woodville 9 out of 10 times. Woodville won that given night, but Newton did not play like Newton at all. I still give full credit though. Also, I do not believe Woodville would beat WOS by any means. That game woke Newton up big time. Woodville really needs to go deeper in the playoffs. That’s what matters. You definitely should be proud of your team.

This is a good year for Newton to win... except Newton is off this year, too.

I think WOS bounces back this week.

WOS very well could bounce back with a win tonight. I wouldn't be surprised by any means. However, I don't believe Newton is off this year. They have a pretty solid team and it will be very difficult for any 3A D2 team to beat them this season. Yes, they lost to Woodville by one point and that is why you think they're off. It happens, and Woodville is the best they've ever been. I still do not think Woodville is better, but they won that night, so I give them credit. But Newton is a lot better than last year's team. In my opinion, I think WOS wins tonight, but that doesn't mean Newton is bad. It is a good test for them and will only make them better.

And you a Newton resident saying Wos gonna edge out the Eagles.. Thats weak thinking.. Smh..terrible

I'm not a Newton resident. Also, I can think on my own and have my opinion. That is not weak thinking. I hope the Eagles win and I am confident it will make the Eagles better whether they win or lose. However, my personal opinion is that WOS will edge out the Eagles this Friday. That is not knocking the Eagles by any shape or form as I think Newton can win a state title this year with the team they have. I speak highly on the Eagles and believe they are pretty darn good this year.

He ain’t my Friend and I believe you were out of line Dazzler. I went to public schools so give me a break on the spelling. I know it bothers you so.

He will not admit it, yet wants to make smart remarks instead and hide in denial. It is okay. No harm to me. The Bulldogs are a very touchy subject to him. It's just not the way I would expect a moderator to act on this site. All I did was state a fact, not an opinion nor a lie. There is a lot worse things mentioned and stated on this site by others, but it is not about the Bulldogs, therefore it is okay. I got caught. I apologize.

Anyways, I hope West Orange Stark and Newton put on a show Friday.

Ah, I was waiting for that. Its the players fault, right. Eight of which played pretty well in the 50 last year. Nice rant BTW.

I dont have a problem with the new head man. I just have to question the decision to change something that worked right out the gate. I'm a grown man, I will question what I question.

I really do not know what is going on over there at WOS. But, if it were me, I don't believe I would have changed up many things that has worked so well for so long. That defense is killer when the personnel is there as whole. Then again, us as fans, need to give more time to new coaches and see if their changes pay off. Time will tell. Again, I do not know what all is taking place over there.

  12. West Orange Stark will be just fine this year. Just because they lost to PNG does not mean they have significant problems. Heck, they lost to a good, larger program. You can't win them all and a lot of good may come from that loss. I see WOS edging out Newton this Friday, and making a deep run in the playoffs. For my Newton Eagles, win or loose, this game will help Newton become a stronger team. I believe Newton will play hard Friday and make it a game. The 3A-D2 teams will have a very difficult time in beating the Eagles this year.
