  1. It was my understanding that the SETCA game got cancelled, but if it didn’t, this coaching selection doesn’t make sense based on this year’s results.
  2. The fact that you (and so many others) think you’re smarter than them and that they’re fools because they have different concerns than you is exactly the attitude that swings their vote the other way. And you CAN change it, and so could trump, by not being condescending to people who you’re no better than, and taking their beliefs into consideration. But carry on, and see where it gets you. Things are pretty peachy right now, right?
  3. and you'll still be worried about the wrong thing. You have to win the middle or you win nothing. it's amazing how rigid the conservative right is. "heck no we won't compromise a little towards the middle to improve our chances of winning, we'll just shout the same views the middle voted against last time even louder and call everyone who votes against us fools and idiots! There's no way we can fail, but if we do it's because they're so dumb, not because some of our policies and beliefs are becoming outdated and irrelevant."
  4. I struggle with the "so what if they voted against trump because he was intentionally unlikeable, they're all morons because things turned out terrible!" argument.
  5. Girls 4A Regional Semis: Lumberton (19-3-1) vs. Lake Belton (27-1) 3 pm Winner to face Bay City in the Regional Finals Girls 6A Regional Semis: West Brook (18-4-3) vs. Stratford (19-3-4) 2 pm Winner to face the winner of Atascocita/Ridge Point Boys 4A Regional Semis: East Chambers (23-0-1) vs Salado (22-3) 5 pm Winner to face the winner of Mexia/Stafford
  6. I was pretty surprised about this considering he didn't even get his team into the playoffs this year, but apparently it's based on the results from the season before because they cancelled the all-star game last year.
  7. oh, duh. that would be what I'm missing. but still, the WAC looks bad. but def better than the southland. not sure why I had the sun belt in my head this morning, other than lamar was there forever ago and they both start with an "s".
  8. Voters have a short memory, and there's always some flash in the pan that'll come along and look like a better option. gotta keep control when we get it, at least long enough for the woke fad to die off some, which has got to happen sometime in the near future.
  9. Man beat roommate with a stick during an argument over what a mosquito looks like, Dallas police say (msn.com)
  10. Post articles about dumb criminals and crimes here.
  11. That's how we feel when the republican president hands the presidential election to the dems and y'all are more worried about criticizing the people who voted against him. That said, the goal here is for Republicans to keep control once they gain it, so that the country quits blowing up. It doesn't do any good to take back over if a few space cadets help hand it back to the left in 2 years. Marjorie Taylor Greene reported Jimmy Kimmel to the capitol police yesterday because he made a joke about her and said "Where's Will Smith when you need him?" She literally filed a police report due to a "threat of violence." And she's one of Trump's most vocal backers. She's as loony as Nancy Pelosi, and she's the likely next Republican presidential nominee's biggest and loudest fan. You're dang right I'm worried about (some) republicans.
  12. Maybe i need to bone up on my knowledge of mid-major conferences, but as they stand, the WAC and the Sunbelt don't really look all that far apart to me. The WAC members are California Baptist, Abilene Christian, Chicago St, Dixie St, Grand Canyon, New Mexico St, Sam Houston St, Seattle U, SFA, Tarleton, UT Rio Grand, Utah Valley. What am I missing here? Sun Belt will be Appalachian St, Arkansas St, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia St, Arkansas LR, Louisiana Lafayette, Louisiana Monroe, South Alabama, Texas St, UT Arlington, Lamar, and Troy.
  13. the whole thing reeks of incompetence. But I do think the SLC is a better place for them. Hopefully the new AD does a better job.
  14. One of my concerns, and this isn't a jab at Trump, is that some of his biggest supporters and cheerleaders are some of the biggest goofballs on the right. So assuming he gets the republican nomination, he doesn't need Boebert and Greene and others that come off borderline looney trying to stump for him.
  15. Chicago-area church called out for 'fasting from whiteness' for Lent: 'Wokeness gone mad' (msn.com) First submission.
  16. I guess I hadn't really paid attention to the teams in the WAC these days. When the cards joined the WAC I looked at it as a major step up for Lamar, but it's really not much better than the sunbelt, if at all, considering the new teams the sunbelt has brought in.
  17. This is a sports site. The people who come to this site do so because they love sports. While they may not be football coaches or current players, your average poster on Setxsports has an above average knowledge of how sports work, and basically every poster on here disagrees with your take on this. There's a 0% chance that you're right, and everyone else on here is wrong, because everyone in the argument knows at least as much or more than you about high school football, and none of them agree with you. the actual silly part is that 100+ posts by 30+ users have refuted your argument over the course of several threads, and essentially nobody has agreed with you, yet you keep making the same argument over and over again. People are certainly smart enough to understand how silly that is.
  18. I think there should be a better system in place that would lead to an easier path to citizenship, but also an easier path to expelling those who have nothing to offer our country. That being said, Biden's politics on the matters of immigration and border control are awful, and his complete disregard for the damage it's causing texas is inexcusable. I would actually love to see how Biden handles it with several hundred thousand people are dropped off at the capital for them to deal with. Supposedly 900 charter busses will be used.
  19. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to send buses of migrants to DC ahead of surge (nypost.com)
  20. That's why reagan is impossible to talk to. He has it in his head that winning state is the only acceptable outcome to a football season, and that records and championships are the only thing that matter. He also thinks that having a good coach is the only thing any program needs to become a powerhouse. All this despite dozens of people disagreeing with him over the course of several different threads about several different teams. I'd advise you not to waste your time trying to explain it to him, seeing that this is an issue that you obviously care about. I just do it for fun.
  21. I didn't say you said they'd hire an elite coach. I said you said that all that's keeping them from eventually winning a state championship is having an elite coach. and you've said that over and over.
  22. we'll see how it works out. there are a handful of republicans that need to keep their traps shut and avoid giving the leftwing media ammunition, though.
  23. I'm not opening up that can of worms with you, just stating an opinion (that i'm confident is a fact). Most people with common sense look at certain politicians and are concerned. There are several currently on the left that scare the crap out of me, and that holds true for many voters, which will play a big part in the major shift we're about to see. A lot of regular people are sick of the "woke" movement, and will vote accordingly. That said, if republicans interpret this as an opportunity to pass similarly polarizing legislation, it will backfire. Our country's history is full of scenarios where a party mistook people voting against the opposite party as support for their own ideas.
  24. I hope and expect many counties and states to flip red. I just hope the right doesn't make the same mistake the left has, and go off the deep end trying to ram through ultra conservative legislation. It's been democrats like AOC, Kamala Harris, Illhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Stacey Abrams and Nancy Pelosi that are so far to the left that they're running off swing voters, and even traditional moderate democrats. But republicans like Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene are just as crazy on the right, and could have the same effect. I guess we'll see how it plays out.
  25. this is 100% the right approach, and a great post. that said, half of this thread is a certain poster stating that all Tarkington is away from being the next Argyle is hiring an elite coach and keeping him on staff for 7-10 years.
