whsalum got a reaction from WOSgrad in Silsbee 81 Hardin-Jefferson 51/FINAL
Once again I will advise everyone to use caution hanging banners two or three years into the future. Strange things can happen dealing with 16 year old players in pressure situations. Silsbee has a very good club, one that should be in the mix for a title. That being said there's lots of basketball still to be played this season.

whsalum reacted to Hagar in Concerns About Social Security
No freaking way Politicians could let money pile up and not get in it. It's comparable to putting a pound of powdered cocaine on the table of a home of a recovering addict. They've used it, spent it, wasted it, but the money isn't there anymore. Yep, how about everyone in Congress start putting 50% of their salary into SS until it's solvent. And if you came into Congress with a total worth of $250,000, and leave 20 years later with a total worth in the millions, 50%. Just thinking outside the box.
Btw, got @ a $5 a month raise this year in SS, but Medicare went up @ $20. Don't have to be a math whiz to see old folks lost money. Reminds me of the title of an old John Wayne movie, They Are Expendable.

whsalum got a reaction from Tigers2010 in Concerns About Social Security
Last night I watched a very concerning commentary on Social Security. Seems the plan is to curtail benefits to those who have managed to build their own nest egg. It also is to push back the age that those under 50 will be able to draw benefits. The reasoning is that the program is bankrupt. . For years people in this country were required to pay in to social security, those that were responsible also attempted to put back a little for a rainy day or for retirement ( savings accounts, 401k etc.) The people that will be punished for this blatant misuse of government funds are the very ones that have kept the system afloat for years !! How about the folks that spent the money, replace it. What ya'll think.

More important is the menu at the concession stand. Your taste buds will be forever in debt to you if you try the walking taco. Come by and see the Mofo and get the best basketball concession known to man.
Was that a shameless post for sells???? I think it was.

whsalum got a reaction from Coach Frey in Hamshire-Fannett 70 Sabine Pass 65/FINAL
Not a lot of D1 prospects in Southeast Texas. No disrespect to any of the area players but it takes a really good baller to even get a D3 look. Some folks misunderstand a mailbox full of flyers for offers. There's a YUGE difference to quote Trump lol.

This tourney lay out makes it tough to go see multiple games, long breaks between them.

He stepped up big time in the playoffs last year for Kountze. 6'3"- 6'4" kid around 250 lbs. Last year was his first year playing basketball I believe. He still needs polishing but if he gets better as the season goes on he could cause problems inside with his size.

He was a sophomore last year and I think it was his first year to play. I heard he has improved.

To my knowledge, the only kids in SETexas with true D1 offers in basketball are D. McCain and J. Adams at Silsbee, E. Parquet at West Brook and J. Dill at Central. Wouldn't be surprised to see K. Howard at Nederland get one soon. Its not an offer until you actually talk to the coach and he offers. And that happens after he comes and watches you play or invites you to his campus for a workout. Emails and letters alone are spam.

whsalum reacted to Mamba in Countdown to the 2016-17 Season
I really do hope they win it all so you Silsbee guys can rest well at night. Question how deep will Sigler really go. There is such a thing as too much "talent" you think. Only 5 can touch the floor ,minutes will be scare. How will the young tigers handle that especially the parents and fans .

whsalum got a reaction from Mr. Buddy Garrity in Michael or Michael?
Let's not forget a lot of Phelps gold medals were in the relays . He is a great athlete no doubt but all of his gold's were not individual accomplishments . We will probably never see the likes of his accomplishments again.

Lord Blue Dove there are places in Deep East Texas that make Irving street in Beaumont look like Sesame Street. Looking at the phone call transcript today it was a little over 3 hours from the time the first shots were fired until the gunman was killed. The majority of the people killed in this senseless attack were young males. I would have like their odds a lot better had a few of them been armed.

whsalum got a reaction from 77 in Is it my imagination
No one knows 100% what they would do in a hypothetical situation. I do know there have been times in my life when I received calls where neighbors or loved ones were in danger and called me. I can tell you I answered the phone and went to their aid. Even better chance if I stayed crouched in a stall I would be shot any way. Given those two options I'll take the gun every time. If you choose to stand by and watch people shot that's your decision . Who is right ? We will never know, hopefully.

I can't blame anyone for running, but it's a shame that with that many people there they didn't just swarm him. If they had we might be talking about 5 dead and 10 injured.
