Agree, and especially tough on single moms with no support.
It's ridiculous, work 5 days like everyone else does.

Yes, I am ok with helping folks out that need it.
What I am not ok with is the generational abuse of entitlement programs, and the democrats using entitlements to gain votes.
I'm sure you are a fan, seeing how you got your education paid for with my money.

A politician dies. Instead of going straight to heaven or hell a spirit appears before him. The spirit says he gets to choose whether he goes to heaven or hell.  The politician replies of course he wants to go to heaven.    The spirit tells him that before he chooses, that he has to visit both places so that they each get a fair chance.   First, they visit heaven. It looks pretty nice. Big fluffy clouds, angels singing and playing harps.  Everyone seeming to enjoy themselves. The politician is pleased but a bit underwhelmed. Hell, on the other hand is magnificent. It's the most beautiful place the politician had ever seen. Everyone there is having the time of their life in a big beautiful garden. It makes heaven look dull and boring in comparison. "I can't believe I am saying this, but I think I would rather go to hell." Says the politician.    "Very well" says the spirit. "Turn around".   When the politician turns around though hell appears very different than it had less than a minute ago. All the attractions are gone and everything is on fire. All the people are screaming in agony. "I don't understand!" cries the politician. "This isn't what you showed me before."  Spirit says "well, that was the campaign. "Now, you have voted."

It was more than just about the last few posts, or even this topic specifically. All I read on here is "Well, what about...(insert what ever deflection you want to come up with)". If you're missing something, then you are no different than most - me included. We become so polarized to "our guy" that we can't see the forest for the trees.
@Reagan posts sensationalized articles about "what the left did this time" and @Big girl, God bless her, can't seem to make sense of what day it is. Both are extreme and the truth falls somewhere in the middle. But there isn't any middle ground thee days. There isn't any give and take these days. Between social media, mainstream media (which includes CNN, Fox, the Big 3, MSNBC, etc.), we are willingly being polarized. It's for a reason, both political & social. We are slaves to their thoughts. Most people can't admit that Trump is a narcissistic crook. I can. I'm still going to vote for him...because, in my opinion, it beats the alternative.
Quit calling each other names and pointing the finger and try to have a discussion that's meaningful.

Btw, Sam Walton worth hundreds of billions of dollars while still alive had only a bachelor's degree. He founded and ran the largest retailer in the world, Walmart. Also held the title of richest man in the world for a period. Sure wish he’d have gotten that master’s. SMH.

Well, Lumberton is not failing to provide a proper education. Neither are the majority of the schools in our area where I live.
This is a political move with the ruse of being used to keep liberal indoctrination away from our kids. While I agree with keeping our kids from being led down the happy blue path, I don't agree with the way they are trying to do it. Texas Conservatives (of which I am) are simply doing this to garner support from the right. If you think they really give two craps about your kids, my kids, any kids, then you are gullible (which I don't believe you are). You're a smart guy. I agree with the vast majority of things you post.
We are being given a poor solution which will raise taxes in the end and could possibly be harmful to a lot of middle class families on down to the lower class. There can be other ways to do it than school vouchers. From a guy that doesn't like paying any more taxes than I have to, I am definitely against it. I am also against fixing one problem by causing many more problems.

Because she still can’t. A voucher won’t cover rides to school (wherever that may be), uniforms, the entirety of tuition, they don’t have free lunch programs, etc, etc…
A voucher won’t help a mom in a rough place get her genius into a a private school that doesn’t exist in that area. But it will help that guy in river oaks with the tuition bill on his three kids that he’s already paying.

You just have to ask yourself “why?” Why are they fighting so hard for this program? What’s the motivation? We all agree that anything that strips money from public schools is a bad thing, right? If the schools lose 5% of their students to private schools, they’re going to have their funding cut, right? But their expenses won’t go down. The only way for this to work is if we raise local taxes to subsidize them for the funds that the state is redirecting to the voucher program… that’s what no one wants to explain.

You just have to ask yourself “why are they fighting so hard,” and the answer is this… everybody complains “why should I have to pay school taxes? I don’t even have kids in school!” The fat cats got somebody to listen, and “school choice” became the cause that politicians have to get done.

I can agree with that. Discussion is a way to learn. One or both of us may learn something from it. That's what's wrong these days. We have an "all or none" concept. If Reagan and Tip O'Neil hadn't learned to reach across the aisle, Reagan would have been a much less effective President.
