  1. Not too surprised. He had a good run there. Won a couple district titles and made a few regional championships. But I think he took the program as far as he could.

  2. To be clear, you brought up the personal attacks and I said I couldn’t do anything about that, only moderators could, I wasn’t calling for more stringent control. For the most part, I have no problem with the job the moderators do here, it’s a fairly hands off approach, with only a few that I can recall that were removed, by their own doing.

  3. Well, if through limited research Porter has determined that she’s pretty accurate sometimes, that oughta be good enough for everyone I guess. You’re falling back on the same “it’s up to other people to prove random stuff that’s posted on Twitter wrong” argument again. If her numbers are correct, Reagan should be able to find a real source for them. Or more importantly, why didn’t she post the source herself? Anyway, feel free to get the last word in so we can get back on topic.

  4. SETXsports is now 20 years old!! December 2005, owner @jdawg03 started this website to promote our local high schools sports. It was a way for the fans to be a part of the sports scene here locally. Over the years, this site has grown from just a small little message board site to one of Southeast Texas media staples. Adding our broadcasts and other social media entities, SETXsports has become one of the states biggest and best high school sports websites. I personally want to thank all our staff (admins/mods/broadcasters) for all the work put in to make this website what it is today. Also, thanks to our over 45,000 members (past and present) for being a big part of the success of this site. Couldn't have done any of it without you guys. So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SETXsports!! 20 years!!

  5. I like to think about political discourse like being a member of a church. If you only go to Christmas, Easter, and/or the occasional Sunday service, the church seems very typical of the community. I’d say that’s akin to the typical voter experience who only votes every 4 years. Then, there’s the church member who is also a member of the steering and business committee of the church. This member sees the ugly underbelly of the church as a business. This can disillusion the member if they don’t remember the real reason they attend anyway. I’d say this is akin to the voter who is more informed, votes even in local elections, and participates in political discussions. Both members are valuable to the congregation. One is much easier to deal with, and causes no qualms for the most part. But, the church couldn’t function without the more involved member. There’s a need for a place to discuss politics, as unsettling as it may be sometimes. Many of the topics, I wouldn’t know anything about if it weren’t for this forum. This forum actually makes me investigate things. I become more informed, and whether I agree or not is irrelevant. That—to me—is a very big positive.

  6. Reagan can make his own argument and IF they weren’t facts, simply dispute them with the real facts. There are several things that could depress me, but a sports forum (even being the best one ), ain’t one of them, lol.

  7. They could just as well hire me as the head of thoracic surgery at Harvard Medical School. A police officer would be well suited to be in charge of a prestigious position at a medical school. After all, I have been to about half a dozen classes on first aid. The Dems, right on schedule, are into box checking. And no, we absolutely shouldn’t be surprised.

  8. Not much surprises me when it comes to democrats, but I gotta admit, this one did a little bit. I never expected New Yorkers to embrace government dependency so much as to vote someone like this in, and he was very honest upfront about his intentions.

  9. I hear ya. Maybe reagan should have posted that data from a verified media source/govt. entity instead of a social media influencer. You know, those folks that try to INFLUENCE people. lol

    Hemphill is open

Hemphill turned in 204 on enrollment. That is not for bad for 2A2. Bremond turned in 152 and went several rounds in the playoffs this year. The kids do not want to play and When this all started they were in Newton’s district. So many kids quit and they had to move the JV kids up to the varsity and had no JV team. Kind of reminds me of when Kirbyville went south. However, along came Alvarez who turned that program around and when he left that program went south again. I go through Hemphill pretty often and I am more concerned about getting the Dairy Queen back open.

  12. I agree. I'll start being fair. Also will start doing the job that you suggested. Policing this forum for violations. It seems some of that is not being fairly done down here.

  13. Let’s not forget you questioned me and was derogatory towards me about my post so yes I will get the last word if I want too. Over the years I can’t count how many times I’ve seen someone post a source and you dismiss it because you didn’t like the source so cut the nonsense. You seem to think you are the orbiter of truth and sources which is a joke it self. You seem to get real bent when someone post something off Twitter/X but you have no problem believing 3 letter agencies like the CDC, FBI, DOJ etc. 😂 Your credibility is as solid as your covid post. If you want to talk about legitimate sources. Lol

  14. It’s funny that DCT made post after post after post that was simply AI generated with no sources and not a peep from you or anyone else, which is fine, don’t need the help, lol. Thanks for proving my point again, if us rightys disagree with a post, we post rebuttals. It seems you only get involved in something like this when it’s a Reagan post, never ever seen you challenge some of the ridiculous posts from the leftys. As a moderator, either be fair or simply stay out of it.

  15. But my point was it didn't matter to those on the right where this subject came from. It was something that supported that side, came from a MAGA supporter so therefore all of you guys took it as truth. Not one of you (other than baddog) cared to verify the data. You had no motivation to verify the data because that supports what you support. Just said prove it wrong. Even some said it didn't matter if Elmer Fudd posted the data. I am betting that had a lefty posted, some of you would have provided many sources to either verify or dispute. You would not have taken their word. All I am saying, let's not be so blind. How about posting real sources and not leftwing or rightwing social media influencers.

  16. If I find a topic on Fox, I Google the topic to see if it is covered by msm because so many people hate Fox and their conservative lean, they will refuse to believe it, yet Fox still has better numbers than all the other news sources COMBINED. Funny what people will believe and for what reasons.

  17. Thanks for proving my point, she could be right. Look at the information being posted and critique that before simply dismissing the source. I’m not sure why this is so hard.

  18. But who is saying the data is wrong? Maybe she is a blind hog that found an acorn. I just think the subject matter would have more credibility than coming from a social media influencer (self titled btw). The "influencer" part is what sticks out to me. They don't really want to educate, just influence.

  19. Congratulations, from the east coast.

  20. So which news sources would you consider a REAL source? Why is it that some “random” lady couldn’t possibly know the facts about something. And you are wrong, if a post is made and you think it’s wrong, don’t simply bash the source, provide evidence that it is wrong.

  21. The problem with posting tweets as fact is that literally anyone can post anything. The fact of the matter is, I agree with the sentiment of the original post. But that doesn’t mean it’s a legitimate source of information. And someone asking for an actual source for the numbers and being told “to prove it wrong” isn’t how debating works.

  22. I am not on a vaccine pulpit. You brought up the legitimacy of Twitter and sources of information to be posted so I brought up your inaccurate posts of the past about Covid. What does be real careful mean? Are you threatening me with something? You failed to tell us where the one source of all truth comes from. We are waiting. Sounds like you do not like anyone questioning you but you like to question everyone else.

  23. I wasn’t crediting you with the numbers posted. I was responding to your comment about them. And I’d step down from your vaccine pulpit. That’s way off topic here.

  24. As I’ve stated before, I know for a fact that AI can get things wrong. I have asked it things before that I knew for a fact were true and it gave a different answer. So, you are right, you gotta watch it.

  25. AI still has too many issues right now. People who use it without back-checking are foolish. As an example, type in the below two questions EXACTLY as typed: How many illegal aliens in Texas 2025? How many undocumented immigrants in Texas 2025? We know the questions are asking about the exact same subset of the population. But, the AI answers—and sources—you receive will be quite different. AI isn’t smart enough to figure that out. It’s merely going on key words. Not really intelligence in my book. A big misnomer.

  26. Just a short clip which kinda explains what I was getting at. What is projected is a distraction. This is a huge reason why Kirk was assassinated. He was making an impression on college youth which is a huge voting base and countered their indoctrination.

  27. But the person who created this thread claimed the data was factual. Reagan's reply to someone asking who was Mila Joy, "The one stating the facts!" So what you are saying is folks like Reagan post threads just to get discussion going, regardless if the subject of the thread is factual. Got it. Not sure why we need that kind of discussion here. I guess I should be used to Reagan flooding the forum with the opinion pieces from the right. This place is getting very depressing.

  28. The thing that bothers me more than anything else lately, is the amount of posts obviously strictly using AI. I’ve researched quite a few of them, and they are coming from obviously biased source material. Makes sense since most media has a more liberal slant. I wish people wouldn’t just use AI generated answers, and think for themselves. AI seems to already be taking critical thinking out of the equation for many people.

  29. I think most debates on this particular political forum are fairly robust. It’s a lot better than most places. Personally, I do a lot of data checking before I get too deep into discussion. Unless it’s something with which I have personal experience. Even then, if someone asks, I’ll try to provide data to support.

  30. Truth can come from any source, as can misinformation. I think most posts are made for discussion, not necessarily to claim without a doubt they are 100% accurate. Back to my original point, the debate shouldn’t end just because someone doesn’t like the source.

  31. I was waiting to see how long it took for those who said they didn’t trust a single source—or the government—for data/information, to realize the X post was partially created using government data.

  35. I am not bothered by the data. Just bothered by how some take certain folks word as fact as long as it supports their cause. That's both sides.
    1 point
  36. See, that's the thing. I am not necessarily disagreeing with the data. Could very much be true and likely pretty close. (see baddog's post above). I just don't get how some here take it as truth just because they agree with it or it supports their side or comes from anyone on their side. Until baddog's post, no one was willing to verify Mila Joy. You guys liked that it came from "one of yours" so therefore no reason to dispute, That's my point.

  37. I guess my point is has this forum come to the fact that one can post anything from anyone and it's assumed to be fact depending on which side of the fence one stands on? When this forum starts posting data from someone who is just a wife/mom/MAGA/Trump supporter and that's it? Then I personally believe this forum has gone to "you know what". Same would be the case if it were opposite. I have spoke to a few folks (both sides) over the last several months that used to post down here that have chosen not to just because it's nothing but personal attacks and bogus, nothing but opinion based data from very one sided sources. I think this forum could be better and actually was better. Sad to see it come to this.
