The BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL - PASSED THE HOUSE
bullets13 and 4 others reacted to thetragichippy for a topic
@AggiesAreWe - If I thought for a minute this bill would deprive anyone with TRUE disabilities of benefits, I would be totally against this bill. Until it is proven different, I'm taking them at their word it is for waste, fraud and abuse. On a similar topic ( @Big girl listen close) - In my younger days I worked in EMS for 8 years, then after that I ran 2 different rent to own companies. In EMS, the "sick calls" when people call ambulances to claim they are sick (or may have a cold) to basically get a taxi ride across town was almost daily. 99.9% had no insurance. It was a loss for the ambulance company and hospital. If they had Medicaid, they were using an expensive emergency room for what could of been a Doctor visit at far less money. Hospitals do not turn sick people away like some of the left want you to believe. Rent to own - I worked for Rent A Center (hated that place btw) - 75-80% of our customers were on SSI or some type of government housing. They spent a significant amount of their money on Big Screen TV's and furniture. Some would furnish their entire section 8 apartment with rental furniture. I remember some paying 75-100 a week back in 1990.....$400 a month back then would of financed a Corvette.... Yet they needed housing assistance/food stamps?? Also, we were in the same parking lot as the food stamp office. There would be 100's of people selling their food stamps for 50 cents on the dollar.... That was back when there was no internet or ways to electronically scam the government.......Can you imagine now? So, I am for cutting waste, fraud and abuse........5 points -

There is a substantial amount of abuse, but I would assume that people with genuine need will not be affected negatively. The amount of able-bodied parents I’ve dealt with in my career who chose to either work part time or not at all to maintain their Medicaid and welfare benefits was astonishing. I would be 100% against any bill that makes it more difficult or impossible for someone who truly needs help to get what they need.3 points -
Furthermore the 11 year olds these days would literally do anything thats being done on tik tok,I haven’t searched it but I’m curious what the actual challenge is. Bear crawls have been around for ever,is the challenge doing it on a hot track?3 points

I mean this as no disrespect to Coach Hancock, but just kind of crazy how a guy with no HC experience was viewed as this great hire and a guy with two head coaching stops and good assistant experience is viewed as a baffling hire.2 points

I think the question is why was doing bear crawls on a hot track one of the options? Need to have a little more sense. If this was being done at the football stadium, then why weren't the bear crawls done on the field instead of the track?2 points -

Yup - my insurance is out of pocket until I reach 2K deductible(which is not great, but company does put money in HSA) - Quick Clinic charges me almost $400 depending on what bloodwork and test they do for for a normal I'm sick and running fever visit....$200.00 cash including everything if I self pay...... Obamacare really screwed up the medical insurance....before him, I was golden1 point -

Sometimes it is better without insurance. I had an MRI 2 weeks ago. They called to tell me with my insurance the cost was $1738 out of pocket (I have a high deductible plan). I asked what it costs with no insurance...........$235. I told them I accept the $235 cost. So sometimes insurance isn't your friend1 point -

My sentiments exactly (bold)^^^^ I recall a Wizard convenience store on Lucas being busted for buying food stamps for .50 on the dollar, back in the day. I believe Trump is trying to stop the abuse while ensuring that Medicaid is no being used for cosmetic surgeries or gender surgeries for the sick in the head.1 point -

He did not say he was cutting benefits. He said he was cutting waste, fraud and abuse. You are making things up to spread false information that supports your hate of trump. For you convenience, Below I have attached the ACTUAL BILL as passed by the house. Why don't you read all 1118 pages and tell the class where it says he's going to cut benefits for the true disabled....... [Hidden Content]1 point -
I don’t really care when/if the details come out. They probably won’t be completely revealing anyway. The problem I have is when they stand up and say it’s going to happen and never does. Just keep your mouth shut until you can back it up.1 point

Where do you come up with this stuff? Do you understand what negligence and omission mean? In this case the kids were presented with do something that was supposedly fun from TikTok or something not fun. That is pressure. Allegedly, the coach also pressured them verbally after some were wanting to stop. This has nothing to do with me. Why are law enforcement and the DA investigating? With no potential for an offense? BTW, you struggle with making up stuff on all of these threads.1 point

Texas 22.041(c) (c) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, recklessly, or with criminal negligence, by act or omission, engages in conduct that places a child, elderly individual, or disabled individual in imminent danger of death, bodily injury, or physical or mental impairment. Texas Penal Code 6.03(d) A person acts with criminal negligence, or is criminally negligent, with respect to circumstances surrounding his conduct or the result of his conduct when he ought to be aware of a substantial and unjustifiable risk that the circumstances exist or the result will occur. The risk must be of such a nature and degree that the failure to perceive it constitutes a gross deviation from the standard of care that an ordinary person would exercise under all the circumstances as viewed from the actor's standpoint.1 point

Posting because us folk from up north are under represented! Woodville - My Eagles obviously were the top team in SE Texas. Lost in the State Finals. Graduating a ton of talent - but we probably have the greatest talent pool in the Region (minus Newton). We will return a young all-everything QB who is bound to have a boat-load of offers by this time next year. Everyone was nervous about the coach cashing out for a bigger job. Looks like he's back and the future is bright. Warren - Their coach left at the beginning of Summer after turning around the program (for Warren standards). They hired an assistant on staff. 1-9 while returning most of a team that barely missed the playoffs. New coach again this year (hired the basketball coach). Rumor is the new Superintendent and AD have cleaned house (again) and now are both co-coaching the softball team. I heard all offseason how their baseball team was going to be better than Woodville's this year... they are in last place in their district now. Chester - Rolling in Baseball - struggled in football coming off a big playoff run Spurger - Thank God for basketball here.1 point

Mr Falcon has done nothing more than address your questions. The question was asked previously was “what could he potentially be charged with”. The answer was “child endangerment”. You are somehow stuck on the fact that the incident is “unintentional”, intention is not required for child endangerment to be applied. There is a criminal investigation going and is not being conducted by “Mr Falcon” but instead by law enforcement and the DA. He may or may not face charges but myself and many others will not be surprised if he does.1 point -

Because the "opt out" would include a "workout". Choices were 1. "Do the challenge" or 2. "Do a workout". The obvious inference is that to avoid the "workout" you have to "do the challenge". That is "applying pressure". Afterwards, many kids sought medical treatment. *** For reference: 6th graders are not routinely capable of rendering adult judgement as to what is in their best interest. The point that the "challenge was optional" is utterly irrelevant. The kids were under the care and influence of an adult caregiver.1 point

Antisemitism
LumRaiderFan reacted to baddog for a topic
To compare someone to Hitler can’t even come close to how evil that man was. He also had control of the msm, I mean all the radio broadcasts and newspapers. Keep backing Palestine. Lets me know all I need to know. If hamas laid down their arms, nothing would happen. It has been done several times before. If Israel were to lay down their arms, hamas and hezbollah would murder every one of them. Protesting in our streets for Palestine makes no sense. What positive effect has it had? Grab a sign and go join them. Kill an innocent couple of Jews while you are at it.1 point -
Pro Palestinian rights = antisemitism? How predictable! I thought the Hitler card was frowned upon in here. I got a reprimand for using it. Of course, I was referring to the Weasel, not liberals. But since you brought it up, he also banned and burned books and dealt brutally with anyone with thoughts or opinions opposing the Reich. Weasel ain’t got brutal yet, but he’s working overtime trying to curb freedom of expression.1 point

Hit something hard. I ain’t limping away from this SOB. (Ron White) Correct me if I’m wrong, but I hear that if you are on Medicaid and are under the age of 65, you will have to work at least 80 hours a month….that’s 20 hours a week for the mathematically challenged. Maybe that’s what Big Girl is complaining about. The nerve of some people expecting people to support themselves and ease some of the burden on the rest of us. How outrageous!1 point

They’re probably waiting on all the snitches from the Diddy trial to make all the necessary tie-ins. Of all the people that may be involved in the child rape scene, the ONLY one that matters to some, is Trump….. and Trumps flight logs were before Epstein even bought the island, and they know that. What great Americans we have not wanting to get them all.1 point -
Also, there are not many incidents where a single drill sends many 6th graders to the medical facility.1 point
-
There are multiple incidents where kids are injured during a drill initiated by a coach. Doesn't always result in criminal charges against the coach. This is a first year coach who's mentor left for another job. You have to consider there's a chance he might not have been aware of some things he probably should be aware of. A huge mistake doesn't necessarily make him a criminal.1 point
