The thread title is misleading. I don’t hate BH and I don’t believe there’s anyone in Baytown who does. I mean, their homers can be quite obnoxious and annoying, and we’re close enough to them to have to run into them constantly and have to listen to the same old spiel and when you try to say ONE THING about how BH isn’t ABSOLUTELY PERFECT you’ve got to listen to them say “BUT WHAT ABOUT BAYTOWN AND HOW HORRIBLE BAYTOWN IS YOU’RE JUST JEALOUS!!!!” and on and on and on instead of actually listening to a word anyone else has to say. If I wanted to live in BH I could do that. If I wanted my kids in BHISD I could do that. I don’t do it even though things are supposedly SO GREAT there because there’s a lot of stuff just under the surface that I just don’t like. If anything, they’re turning into New Baytown. That’s the most popular nickname for them right now and they hate it because it’s true. Half their population are Baytown transplants. Pretty soon you won’t be able to tell the difference.

I’ve seen it in my hiring process. As an interviewer and as an applicant Don’t care for what party this or that. Let’s just get rid of asking ppl if their white black or Hispanic. Credentials should be enough. And again Legacy applications should be removed also best man/woman available across the board.

If I was looking for a race I am sure that I could. When less White doctors are graduating as compared to their race percentages in this country, it hampers the claim that they are bumping people out of positions. Maybe it’s Asian privilege.

I wouldn’t suggest hiring or promoting by tests or certainly not as the main or only factor. It is fair however and I have seen what a government thinks about being fair and qualified, considering the topic. Calling in…. When I retired I had almost 4,000 hours of sick time accrued. On average I called in sick a little over one day a year. I could have called in sick for almost two years…. 😎

This seems like a fair system, but I do see flaws using this for other jobs. I'm not sure a test can measure personality, drive or work ethic. In my company I have a good reputation for hiring good people that tend to stay around 5+ years. My secret is NOT using the company interview questions. People, even dumb ones, can google standard interview questions and find acceptable answers. So, I come from around the desk, sit next to them and ask open ended questions. If they can engage in a conversation, I will learn more from them that way versus the company directed questions. You would be surprised what you get from these "casual conversations" - I had one person tell me, once a week was an acceptable amount of days to call in.......They did not get hired.....

Not a BH hater. Just not a fan of the Super’s past actions. Has nothing to do with anyone else. If you were to read my postings, you would see that clearly. There are no negative posts against BHISD, or BH community or kids in general. Do I think the Super is/has brought negative press to BHISD, and question how conduct rules in his contract haven’t been violated multiple times? Big fat ‘YES.’

Everything that was said in the first 2 min of that interview will never be said about GCCISD EVER. Friday night lights in East Houston, community, culture, fan support. Pity my @ss LOL. I wonder why he wasnt interested in the GCM job ? I wonder what freshman football coach will end as the head coach there? What a joke.

I remember when Silsbee, Livingston, and Cleveland had some good wars in district. It'd be nice if the Tigers were pushed a little more. These past few games have been pretty sad. It's hard to get a good read on how much they've improved when the games are over at halftime. We'll see how the second Bridge City game goes.

Let me simplify it. Minorities are not being hired because companies want to fill "quotas". That is an excuse that the uneducated, disenfranchised ,white male made up to make him feel better about his failures. If black people were getting these "DEI" jobs, the unemployment rate for blacks would be lower than their white counterparts.

I think it was premature and irresponsible to immediately bring up DEI as the potential problem.

We used to leave dead deer on the entrances to Deer Park school buildings, burnt LP into their football field on the 50, and left birdseed all over the visitors side of Bulldog stadium where the seagulls from the Bay would shit all over their side before the game. They’d leave dead dogs on our steps. Fights, yes. But, never one like that I’m aware of. Rivalry started in ‘46.

When a game between two local towns gets shut down for a few years because of a massive brawl, then that is a rivalry. Jasper/Silsbee started it's rivalry in 1922 but put it on hiatus for several years later in the 20's because of a big fight during a game in '24. Didn't start back playing each other till '32 As a child, Jasper was the only rivalry I knew.

It was never proven to me.. nor will it ever be I'm sure.. what the actual reason was that BH and Abseck parted ways. If it was due to Sup. overreach for whatever reason, then I would love to see Lufkin beat the brakes off of BH. Simply because I'm petty.. and love when people come out positively from wrongful situations. Especially coaches. Few things are as satisfying than seeing a coach that's been fired go on to success. If not the case.. meh. I don't have a dog in the fight. Either way, congrats on the Lufkin job.

Because this is the first season in over a decade they would be favored (imo anyway). More importantly, regardless of who would be a small favorite, it is also (other than arguably last year’s teams) where the game would be remotely competitive. Kountze was god awful for a stretch in there. Fortunately for the Lions, butt cheeks Kountze is gone and juggernaut Kountze is back. Ring huntin’ Lions even.

I had no idea this guy had been our offensive coordinator the last two years, and with the organization for three. That's how impactful he's been.
