  1. I get it!! I was once in your shoes. I was that person in the stands, loudly complaining about “bad officiating.” Now, with the rise of social media, it’s easier than ever to voice these criticisms online. I thought I could see every call better than the officials on the floor. Then someone said to me, “If you can do better, get in the game.” That challenge changed my life. Over 20 years ago, I became a basketball official, and what I’ve learned since then is eye-opening. Officiating is not just about making calls. It’s about managing the game, the players, the coaches, and yes, the fans. We face a new generation of student-athletes who have been raised in a culture where everyone gets a trophy and losing is almost taboo. We deal with fans who question our integrity and sometimes become outright hostile. I acknowledge that officials aren’t perfect; we have off days just like anyone else. However, the increasing hostility from fans is driving many to leave officiating. According to the National Federation of High School Associations, approximately 50,000 high school officials have left the profession since the 2018-19 season, with fan behavior being a significant factor. Here’s the reality: without officials, there is no game. So, instead of tearing down the people who make your games possible, here’s a suggestion: • Thank the officials for being part of the game. • Thank them for the countless hours they spend studying rules, mastering mechanics, and working to improve. • Thank them for their patience with privilege-minded athletes and overly aggressive fans. Next time you see an official, instead of criticizing, take a moment to say, “Thank you.” They’re out there to make the game happen, and trust me, it’s not as easy as it looks from the stands. If you think you can do better, take the challenge like I did. Get in the game. You might just discover how much it takes to blow that whistle.

  11. I woke up at 2:00am this morning, drank 2 cups of coffee and drive 2 miles to work. Then I remembered I had 2 dreams about BH’s sophomore #2 that has given teams fits this year… This game is LP’s to lose, but we will see a young BH team compete.

  12. Gametime approaching. 7:30 pm in Rusk Texas. Will it be a historic year for the eagles or will it just be another area round exit? There are lots of possible outcomes. GS likes to run a read option type offense between QB #5 and RB #19. #3 out wide is also very dangerous though. He's a lengthy and athletic guy who might be the best wide out we've seen all year. The defense has good size in the front 7 and #5 and #3 are the anchors in the secondary.

It's called reading comprehension. I against abortion and capital punishment. It's way cheaper to just let a murderer rot in a cell to have them executed just to win the votes of bitter old white dudes who would never have the intestinal fortitude to work in a prison, much less flip the switch on a human.

Not at all! They have a nice early season win against wimberly… but failed come playoff time in round 2. Must have the Dallas Cowboys flu or something.

  16. Dallas didn’t travel because their big schools didn’t make it. 6A was NS & Katy vs Austin schools. Lake Ridge and Frisco Lone Star made it in 5a, but they were new schools at the time with no following. I don’t think the attendance would have been great in JerryWorld with that lineup.

  21. Another nice win for the Indians. On to round 3. However if they play like they did the 2nd half they will not have a chinaman’s chance vs Texarkana

So you have deemed what peoples’ limitations are? I am pro life of innocent unborn children. I am pro death penalty for heinous murderers who have been convicted and appealed their verdict. There is no either/or to it.

  32. His verdict was not overturned on evidence. The unethical prosecutor, whose decision itself was overturned, was allowed to stand. Here is an example. A guy crossed the street and commited jaywalking. A guy driving a car had to swerve to miss the guy who was jaywalking. After getting in an argument, the driver attempted to drive away and the guy who jaywalked shoots and kills him in basically a road rage incident. He was arrested for murder For political reasons, the prosecutor tells the jaywalker, if you plead guilty to the pedestrian traffic charge, we will drop the murder charge. Naturally, he agreed, knowing that he’s been given a gift for appearance. Another prosecutor came along and asked on appeal to reinstate the murder charges. An appeals court agreed saying that there is an ample evidence for such a charge. They went to trial and the prosecution was able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that murder was committed. In steps to state Supreme Court. While it is obvious that all of the evidence was valid and it’s obviously that the murder was proven beyond a reasonable doubt, because the special prosecutor allowed the murder suspect to plead guilty to a traffic ticket, he can’t be charged again for murder under double Jeopardy.
