It probably is a dad that wants the best for their kid…. The problem is the dad doesn’t realize coaches don’t want overbearing parents and parents they need to run their game plan by or parents that post everything on Facebook about their decision and ridicule the other players on the team. I’m guessing this dad thinks that post would actually entice a good coach but doesn’t realize how wrong he is by posting it and how it actually keeps good coaches from ever being interested in going there.

I am being told from a very reliable source that he did interview. Apparently, getting Whitmire to come home to SETX is a real possibility. Hoping the delay is just them working out the details for him and his family.

What a run for the Cougars with those three. How would you rank them (for fun)? I would go Alex, Remi, then Garrison. But full disclosure, I by far have seen the least of Garrison. You usually don’t see the middle kid being the best for whatever reason but that’s where I feel the strongest. Much less confident ranking the other two. All three were an absolute ball to watch and ALWAYS conducted themselves with class on the court. Kudos to Manny on raising quality young men.

The issue here is he’s stating what he would do as a migrant, while you’re trying to tell him to look at it through the eyes of a US citizen. None of us would like it if we lived in a border town and had to deal with it. I don’t like it even though it’s across the state. But every decent man on this board would do it as a migrant if it meant giving our family a much better life.

I am just stating the law. 🙃 If you speed and get away with it, then you got away with it. If you commit a felony and get away with it, then you got away with it. Here is what at times comes back to bite people in the butt. Playing my favorite game, what if…… An officer pulls a guy over for speeding and while talking to him at the window noticed that he has a holster handgun. The officer comments that it is a nice gun and he has one just like it. So Mr. Friendly Driver says, “Yeah, my brother just bought it for me yesterday. I was stuck at work and they had a sale so he went down and bought it for me”. You are now on camera admitting that your brother committed a felony. There was actually a case that went all the way up to the US Supreme Court. It wasn’t a traffic stop but like a traffic stop, was an accidental discovery. The police found a gun in a guy’s possession which was legal at the time because he was not a convicted felon. Unfortunately for him, he had the sales receipt and it had the original purchaser’s name on it and it was his nephew. The nephew was a former police officer and could get guns lawfully at a discount. When the nephew heard that his uncle wanted a new gun, offered to get it at his police discount. Both men could legally purchase a firearm at a licensed dealer. The police were able to track the sale to the former police officer and he was convicted of a felony. The nephew appealed to the Supreme Court and said, but we both can lawfully possess firearms. The Supreme Court said…. Oh well. So the Nephew is now a convicted felon. People love to talk, tell all of their friends what is happening, what they did and more times than not, getting on social media and proclaiming what a great day they had, and what they did. On a side note, social media is one of the great tools of modern law-enforcement. Many times the police don’t need a reason to question somebody, they can just get on their social media page. … or a routine traffic stop. For the most part, I could care less what people do. But if they get caught……

I’m just telling it like it is. If I have to break immigration law to feed my child, then that’s what I’ll do. I was born in San Diego and have lived in El Paso. I hunt in Sanderson where I see just as many border patrol as I do deer. Our camp has been broken into countless times by illegals. It has been at my doorstep. I get it. It’s wrong. I’m just telling you that if I had to sneak into the US to find work to feed my family, then that’s what I would do. I’m not making excuses. I would be illegal. But I would still do it. And that’s reality. by the way, we leave a rack with canned goods on it outside at our camp and some old clothes we don’t use anymore. The camp is never broken into anymore.

1. Would I break the law to help my family rise out of squalor? You’re damn right. 2. Screw the taxpayer how, if I’m working? It’s not that I would feel entitled. It’s that I would do whatever it takes for my wife and kids. If you would read my posts instead of just reacting to a trigger, you would understand that I’m 100% for a legal immigration process. I’m just saying that if it comes to going against an immigration system to provide something other than poverty for my kids, I’m in. You would do the same. I don’t know awesome it is, but I would do it in a heartbeat.

I am all for lawful entry into the U.S. It is the only way. Yes, they are invaders. However, I don’t think they’re coming over for a free ride, necessarily. A HUGE amount of the workforce in border areas are immigrants. The company I work for (industrial construction - refineries, chemical plants, etc) has a workforce that is close to 35% Hispanic. Many of them come from the valley in Texas to seek work to make a better life. I think we have waaay more free ride seekers that are citizens than the illegals that have come to work. In their situation, I would do the same.

There are always two sides to every story. I know a lot of coaches read this site but I am not going to sit and be someone’s punching bag on a site where people hide their real name. I am not hiding behind my screen name. I have a great resume. Yes, I have been at different places but some were my choice and some were the results of politics in this profession. Some of you coaches who stir up the conversations and hide behind a screen name, well that is why I don’t come coach with you guys. You should worry about your jobs since you are on short leashes. You know who you are and coaches in the area know who you are too. Heck, I have had 7 coaches contact me this morning about the jabs taken at me on this post and they all had only positive things to say. (Last 5 years) OF Assistant – went 3 rounds deep, renewed for next school year. Evadale Boys Head Coach – Won District Championship…tripled win total. Principal wanted her brother to be the coach. (Turned out ok because I went to OF) WOS Girls Head Coach – Renewed, accepted job at Evadale (basketball school) Slocum Girls Head Coach – told girls program from Middle school to High School would not win a game. Won 30 games overall…. AD wanted best friend as a retire/rehire to take over Girls. Ask me to go to the boys’ side as assistant. I ended up accepting job at WOS. (Covid hit this year as well) Deweyville Boys Coach – Wanted to coach my daughter. Accepted job at Slocum. 111 wins as a Head Coach 3 District Championships as Head Coach, 3 District Championships as an Assistant Graduate in December from Lamar as a Honor Student with Master of Education Administration Degree.

Good luck to who ever gets the job. Orangefield has a ton of talent in the next 5 years to come.
