Tuesday night was $1 for the whole car at Showtown Drive-In. Mama would pop a trash bag full of popcorn and bring us to the movies. It’s what we could afford. Bologna sandwiches and popcorn and a movie for 5 people for less than 2 bucks. I can still smell the green coil mosquito “piqs” burning on the dash. Mama smoked in the car on the way, none of us wore seat belts and the red dye in our kool-aid that she packed in washed out milk jugs was later banned as a carcinogen. Some of the best times in my life.

Going into this game, Vidor is night and day compared to last season. We aren't banged up, we have our identity with the offense, and the defense is looking stingy as ever. Lock the gates and give 'em 48 minutes of hell, Pirates!

You nailed it. I was able to watch last year since VHS live-streamed home games (why they’re not this year is a mystery). I think he was a Jr & is back this year (#22). Nothing fancy, just good blocking & hard-nosed running. Plus we were using that &#@¥€£ pistol so our offense wasn’t able to move the ball. I hope revenge is enough to get the Pirates fired up this year. With LCM’s improvement, we can’t afford to lose to Splendora.

I remember him every time we jumped offsides last year (which was a lot 99 was out that game and the backup played bad) they would just throw a jump ball over the top of our little corners. That’s about all they had though, him and the coaches son at running back who carried the ball 57 times (idk if that’s an accurate stat but seems about right). Still enough to beat a banged up Pirate squad, this year they aren’t banged up. Revenge game, no excuses.

Yes and nederland also came from behind against a PNG team and also beat a former #1 team in 4A not saying it'll be easy as I'm sure TC is a good team but looking at everyone saying Ned will lose because of sloppy play, while that is a very big possibility, I have to look at who TC has played and wonder are they as good as people say they are. For example just looking at the records without seeing who the teams played Crosby looks like they wouldn't be as good as they are, I know dumb example but just go with it, when you look at who they loss too it doesn't look as bad as it seems. Even if they would have 3 losses the 3rd one would have been against a very good BH team. Hope Ned takes the win but wouldn't be surprised if they lose solely on the sloppy play that I have seen

Yep, I saw it when it first came out. My best guess from memory, first 3 Channels were UHF 32 here, Ch 2 in Houston & Ch 11 in Galveston. I was the official family antenna adjuster. After doing some research as I have not seen texas city play. TC has played teams with a combined record of 8-19 while nederland has played teams with a combinrs record of 11-15. TC has played 1 team with a .500 record(clear lake) the rest has a losing record. Nederland has played 1 .500 record team(silsbee) 2 winning record teams(WOS and PNG). As far as battle tested ready Nederland has the advantage. This will be TCs toughest opponent to date. Nederland has play sloppy but find ways to win in 2nd half. With that being said if nederland plays like they did against SF and has multiple extending drive penalties they win lose this one. If they clean up there act and don't commit stupid penalties they will come out on top. I'm not sure how good TC is as I stated above I have never watched them play but comparing the two I'd give the edge to Nederland. But this will be a challenge for Nederland. Let's not forget they were counted out last year after the PNG loss and found a way to be BH and Crosby to take the district or in some people eyes co-district

Jasper just doesn’t look that good this year, all across the field on both sides of the ball. Aside from the D line, I just don’t see the level of talent they usually have. I would be more upset at the coaches for last season, taking a team that actually had a squad and doing nothing with it. I was surprised they were an easy out in the first round of the playoffs, this year I’d be surprised if they made the playoffs. Now the constant penalties and mistakes would worry me, did you have a lot of that last year also?

We don’t have long to wait and find out. I keep hearing every year HF will win district and their best player was on the JV and they consistently finish 3rd. I watched the Longhorns on quite a few occasions last year both the varsity and JV and they aren’t going to be bad. I don’t see them winning the district. Huffman will miss Harvey’s unselfish play but they have lots of pieces returning. HJ returns Sears, White, Brown , Davis and a couple of kids who are pretty solid on the block. Throw in a few kids who went 22-1 on a JV club and you get a solid club. I can’t wait for the season to start.

I feel like this will determine who gets into the postseason. Winner is in, loser is out.

Let’s be honest now. BH has struggled since moving up classifications, but historically has had success. Do you know Crosby history? They absolutely sucked for a long time. Also, we go through this every year with SOME Crosby fans, but excluding last year, y’all were 2 and done most years. crosby has made it past second round of the playoffs 2009, 2014, and last year. Before that, you have to go back to 1960. Lol, get out of here.

My point was to a guy who seems delusional about Crosby's greatness. They are good. They are not an elite football team. They are not Manvel, Carthage, Westlake, North Shore, Aledo, Katy, South Lake Carroll, or any other elite program. They are a very good program. Consistent domination over a long time period will cement them as an elite program. They just aren't there yet.

It was a very heat rivalry in the early years. But then it turned to one of respect. I too miss those three way battles between La Porte and you guys for the district title. Now it only Atascocita for us and Stump has always had trouble with us.
