  1. Not sure what some people expect from these coaches. Consistently winning and making playoff runs means you're doing something right.

  2. IDK, but that's what his mom told us last week at the park when we were sitting back there watching the youngsters work out though? I'm assuming she was talking about measurements from his recent physical? I personally couldn't gauge, I've just been looking at him on HUDL. I would expect him to go about 6-4 and that same 340lbs in a couple of years though.

  3. Texas football fans thought Mack Brown was underachieving too. How did that work out for them? Clay does a fantastic job at HJ. Imagine how they'd have done had Parquet and the 6'10 kid stayed over there? I'd say they've lost more in transfers than they've gained.

  4. Yeah I think this move helps the hogs recruiting in the long term. ou's gonna get theirs out of Texas, no doubt. But East Texas is gonna start being an arky stronghold again sooner than later.

  5. I agree with that. However, I think Texas joining helps Arkansas’s recruiting. There’s a reason Arky is on board with UT joining the party. They are hoping for one of CFB’s great rivalries to ramp up again, not the fake one that has been manufactured. Us old guys remember when UT-Arkansas was one of the best rivalries in the country. To resume that adds extra dollars to the Hogs (on top of the added conference revenue) and should give them a better recruiting angle for Texas recruits.

  6. OU, in my opinion, is the one that would hurt Arkansas football recruiting, not UT.

  7. Ironically, the man with the most right to be offended over this situation was Louis Sockalexis, one of the first American Indians to play major league baseball, who played for Cleveland. The team first dawned the American Indian mascot in honor of him. Wonder what he'd have to say about this situation.

  8. I don't think Alabama's recruiting will skip a beat. LSU might see some issues, but I'm skeptical. I think A&M and Arkansas have the most to lose. That said, the burden is on UT to prove itself in this situation, and I think the recruits that take this game seriously (i.e., the ones most concerned about draft stock and national championship potential) see it that way as well. UT has a new coach, and has basically only had one season of national relevance in the last ten years. Whatever damage LSU and A&M suffer in the recruiting game can be easily rectified by beating UT, and my money's on both of them to do that. If Arkansas beats UT - which is very much possible, if unlikely - I don't think anybody suffers any recruitment loss at the hands of UT. Austin's fun for college kids and all, but it can only carry UT's recruiting game so far. There's an argument to be had that OU's a bigger threat to recruiting in the SEC than UT is. The Sooners are more likely to perform well in the near future. There's one more variable we all have to account for, though, and that's the name/image/likeness value. I don't think anybody's sure how that affects recruiting. All bets are off on that one.

  14. I gotta disagree with this one. After you get past each team’s best player Lumberton wasn’t even close to Huffman talent wise. Huffman wins that match up every time.

  23. If you want to be on the best coaches list then you need to have a lot of wins year in and year out. The scorecard of a good coach is literally wins and losses or win percentage. Good coaches find ways to get the job done no matter the talent level. Or they work their way into a position with better pieces, but there are no excuses and you can't knock someone for having talented players. Comes down to getting wins. You cannot bash Duane Joubert for having a couple of out of character rough seasons and then praise Josh Mitchell for having a couple outlier strong seasons. That's a double standard. I also don't think you can be an "up and comer" if you've been a head coach for over a decade. Lastly, a top coach in the area should be confident enough in himself and his program not to fish for compliments. Andre Boutte and Todd Sutherland are probably not too concerned with internet rankings.

  24. Granted this year’s playoff loss was a bad one. Not sure you can hold the losses to Yates against him. I definitely think he’s a top 10 guy.

  29. I understand that many of you look at this from the money perspective, and then the football perspective and it is exciting. I could care less about UT or OU and those angles do not interest me. However when you look at the baseball POV - man I get excited. There will be some top-notch baseball being played in the SEC. Could we possibly see an all-SEC CWS one day soon?

    Cleveland Guardians

Baseball is steeped in tradition. The appeal of baseball is that it is unchanged and a constant throughout generations. It is great memories of our dads teaching us to play and throwing in the backyard. The Cleveland Indians are a historic organization and this just stinks. In 53 years I have never once thought about the name being offensive. I think of Major League, Jim Thome and the playoff series where the bugs swarmed the field, and lots of good memories. Keep on driving the divisive wedge and maybe next we can go after: 1) Mariners (they kill poor defensive sea creatures), 2) Brewers (drunk driving kills), 3) A’s (Being athletic is exclusionary), 4) Padres (Separation of church and MLB), 5) Rangers (They killed Indians), 6) Yankees (Some northern owned slaves) and on and on and on and on……if you want to be offended nowadays jump on a platform. Ridiculous!!!!!!!

  32. I said last season that it may have been Boutte’s best coaching job (same with Foster at BS). Both did way more than they should have with the talent they had. Boutte is most definitely still on top of his game.

  35. Lot's of booster clubs and other organizations count on raising money at Friday night games. If you can stay home and still watch the game, most folks will stay home. Also, the majority of stadium press boxes just do not have the capacity to host multiple broadcast entities. Some will be forced out, mainly folks like us who only do audio.
