  2. Remember this game will be broadcast here at SETXsports and Texan Live. I will not be doing play by play for this one. My wife had been in the hospital for 6 days and just got out Wednesday. Need to take care of her the next few days. Our Scott Loar will provide the play by for today's game. I will be back next week for United's game Thursday and West Brook's game Friday. Go Bruins!!!

    This Board Needs....

An engineer died and went to Hell. When he got there, he looked around and said “Man, this place needs fixing up. Mind if I do a little work on it, Satan?” Satan said, “sure”, and the engineer went to work. First, he installed a big AC system. Next, he built a waterworks system. Ice cold water fountains everywhere. He’d started on a sewerage plant when God looked down and saw all the work he was doing. He decided Heaven could use a little sprucing up and got to thinking maybe he’d sent the guy to the wrong place. He told Satan, “Look, this engineer got sent to the wrong place. Send him up here. Satan said, “No, he works for me. You can’t have him.” God said, “What do you mean, No? I am omnipotent. You can’t refuse me!” The Devil said, “I’m not letting go of him” God replied, “Fine. I’ll sue you and we’ll see who wins. Satan chuckled as he said, “Where you gonna find a lawyer?”

  4. My next 6A/5A rankings will look like this: 1. North Shore 2. PA Memorial

  5. To be honest with you about that I could see those that are at Png crossing over and going to Port Arthur Memorial in the near future. For example our starting Soph CB #6: he was at Ned previously.

  8. Crosby has been ranked in the top 5 in the state at some point in the season 3 times over the past five years, ‘15, ‘17 and ‘18. May have gotten to #2 all three years. I’ve never felt we were really worthy of those rankings except ‘18 before Howard tore his ACL. I felt good about Crosby being #10 to start the season and I feel even better about it now based on how the season has played out.

  11. Lindale, setting new heights for the school playoff run, plays Chapel Hill Friday at 7pm. They’ve played once already, Lindale winning 52-6, but Chapel Hill has improved. Playoff scores: Lindale 11-2 defeated Vidor 29-13 Needville 70-56 Chapel Hill 8-4 defeated Livingston 49-37 Stafford 40-14 Probably another high scoring game. I’m taking Lindale and over 75 again.

  13. According to PNG announcers, TC had 580 yards on the ground. They noted that TC was 0-1 passing. Well.........

  14. Call me old school, but when your offense averages 42 points a game on the season, you shouldn't be 4-4 on the year. Bruins give up 42 points a game, so I guess 4-4 record is spot on.

  29. Jorma Kaukonen, lead guitar for Jefferson Airplane and cofounder of Hot Tuna with Airplane bassist Jack Casady, has been live-streaming almost every Saturday at 7:00 on YouTube from his place in Ohio. Mostly him on acoustic playing for about an hour and a half. Jack came out and did a few acoustic shows with him. A couple weeks back they got together in Ohio and got their drummer in and recorded an electric show that’s airing tomorrow night. If you want to see a couple of old dudes who can still lay down some power trio blues, tune in and check it out. Search “Fur Peace Ranch” on YouTube. Should be listed as Quarantine Concert #28. Geezers rock!!!

    I’m Sorry, But...........

Rita leveled Sabine Pass. Trucks bringing furniture to Sabine Pass in a relief effort found themselves surrounded by crowds of people not from SP. Some as far away as Kountze. Police were called and threatened the crowds with possible arrests if they didn’t leave immediately. SP people lost everything. Kountze people may have had power outages and fallen trees, but they didn’t need furniture. Plumb pitiful. I have seen the lines you speak of.

  31. Without the presidency of Donald Trump, SCOTUS would have just ruled that government can keep you from church. Chew on that. I don’t care if you love or hate him, but what I just said is an absolute fact. Results matter. Stop voting on things that don’t matter.

  35. So I have been debating whether to reply to this is not. You state that no way a 4a school should be scheduling a 1A school unless they have a star play. Ok so explain 2017. Silsbee won state in 4A. They beat Argyle in the semifinals by one point. Lipan a little ole 1A school played that same Argyle team and won by five. Not a single Lipan player played Division One basketball on that team. There was no star player. Next year Lipan beat multiple 4A and 5A teams again no star player. Brock is next door. They are a small 3A school. Almost every year they are beating 4A and 5A schools as well. Then look at Silsbee itself by your logic shouldn't be playing with and beating Yates because Silsbee has 800 students while Yates is in Houston ISD, which has a rule that you can start at any high school and not have to sit out a year. That means 20,000 students that Yates might have available. Not just Yates but all of those 6A schools they beat the previous years. They did not have stars like Kendrick Perkins or Stephen Jackson. Yes they might end up with 1 NBA player and 1 NFL player on their rosters those years, but no one was recruited to Kentucky or even a Big 12 school for basketball. They had great players. Talented players, but no one star. Only last year could you say that really. Just a really good team. I have seen ranked 1A teams almost beat ranked 5A teams. Played them within 10 points. That 1A team had 5 good players in the same grade that all grew up together. They had 1 player who scored about 25 a game, but that night she had the flu. It was still a close game. There are certain 1A schools (even 2A with Big Sandy) that can play with 4A, 5A and some 6A. Size doesn't always matter. Year in and Year out they are good. Leggett is one of those schools. They do not play football. They run cross country and play basketball. They are proud. To sit here and say Livingston (with a lot of players still in football) should not be playing a school like Leggett is disrespectful and a little arrogant. They have been practicing all year with everyone. They are good every year. The past few years even if Livingston was at full strength in December, Leggett probably would have won. They are one of those schools that you respect the tradition. I end my rant with one last note to demonstrate Leggett and 1A tradition. Goodrich and Leggett close rivals. Goodrich for four years had Adrian McGowen. She graduated. Leggett then had Brittney Jefferson. Two of the best players in state history played on both sides of Livingston. They can play ball in those towns both boys and girls. So to say no way Livingston should be scheduling Leggett just because they are 1A does not hold up.

  38. Yes you’re right. After you said something I thought about it. Wasn’t Derek that was the safety that year. It was Chris, the older brother. Sadly passed away a few years ago. Derek I think was a pretty good rb if I remember right

  39. TC has a good run defense, but can’t defend the pass. Bost should have a field day picking apart the secondary as long as the weather isn’t too bad. I don’t think TC can score enough points to win this one even against a suspect PNG defense.

  43. Don’t forget to mention to who that stephenville coach was to really start a conversation who out coached Burnett. No other than Art Briles. That star qb was Kendall Briles which is the OC at Arkansas. PNG also that year had one of the greatest defensive player in their history at S in the late Derek Gohlke, which basically won the game with that hit against Lamarque. He put fear into those cougars. I’d take that penalty every time if one these current players did that

  44. My question, does this mean that Bridge City has one of if not the best coach in the area? I mean, BC is not suppose to beat PA in basketball ever, right?

  45. Everybody is blaming the defense. The PNG offense only scored 7 points until late in the game when we had twos in.

  47. Not gonna lie. Good win for a 4a program to beat a 5A team who won the state a couple of years ago. I wish H-F success, but the tell tail sign will be if they can knock off an established program like H-J or a decent Huffman team in district, which I think is very attainable.
    1 point
  48. It was Livingston that wanted to play all the local teams to spread it around so to say. So we enjoy playing larger schools. We may lose, so be it but the other teams know they have been played. So do the ones our kids beat.
