I do not put a lot of stock into the Jasper/Diboll matchup. You sleep on Jasper and it could be a nightmare.

But on the flipside, the Plano schools, Alief schools, Some San Antonio/Northside schools are sorry. Remember, half of those numbers are girls. Most are at a demographic disadvantage as far as interest and participation. It's the starting 22 and Subs, not the entire student body.....

The worst manifestation of this problem is in 6a. You have schools with just over 2300 playing schools like Allen with over 6000. What a joke. I’m hardly going to slap anyone from Allen on the back for winning district with that advantage. You could make two 5a schools out of just the size difference between some of these schools and we’re supposed to get excited for that matchup? 6a needs divisions.

Silsbee has a history of kids in need of supervision.

I like the way HF fans stand up for their squad and really believe they are going to smack Silsbee up. Silsbee doesnt have a great defense so I'm sure HF will score some. The issue is can you stop Silsbee run game with those 3 potential 1000 backs running up and down the field all night. Silsbee passing game will improve. I don't see HF having the horses to hang. I just feel Silsbee has the better team and has played a much much harder schedule.

Good job by Coach Davis. That program is always top notch. Wish Lufkin area media was as involved in basketball as Beaumont.

Diboll is legit. Undefeated so far this year. Their defense has given up 33 points all year. That's 4.125 points per game their defense is giving up. Jasper lost one game to a really good team. Other than that Jasper has been dominant in every other game.

Jasper, WOS, and SIlsbee should be the favorites out of this region. The winner of Region 3 should play Navarro out of Region 4 to see who makes it to state.

The goal is to win a state title. If you take the emotion out it. The game has no meaning for WB. You would be playing teams with similar enrollments by going D2. Atascocita and WB would be an evenly matched contest in the first round. Probably one of the toughest first round games in the state. I watch the North Shore/WB game and WB would not be favored in a rematch. Tough position to be in for WB.

Even great coaches need good players. I'm not saying whatever school you're talking about couldn't have been improved in some areas but you wouldn't be able to put the best coaches in the state at several schools and expect them to come out of there with a state title. It's proven every single year. And if it was strictly based on coaching then the same coaches would have the same results every year.

What a difference a year makes...

Any coach that loses on purpose, should never be allowed to coach again. I’d be more forgiving of a coach that “Woody Hayes'd” a kid than one that would lose on purpose.

CC has played four 2A schools in preseason. Winning two games and losing two games. They beat a weak Kville, New Waverly, and Kountze. They beat an undefeated A Shiro which had played a week schedule. This happens ever year with CC. Newton is not as good as last year and CC is a little better than last year. It will not be a run the clock second half but Newton will win by 4 TDs.

Proves my point about 5AD2. Lee. & BH have a whole 4AD2 student advantage over Vidor, and next year Lumberton. It’s not everything, but it sure helps if you’re bigger, or hurts if you’re the smaller school. 6A, even worse. So perhaps we need a 7A. You could almost make a 5AD1&2 out of 5AD2, then split 6, and maybe leave 7A without D1&2? Just thinking outside the box. And the durn UIL won’t listen to a thing I said (unless it helps HP. 😢)

If Silsbee played EC and the same things happen to EC that happened in their game with H-F (Bucs lost their starting QB with broken leg when going into score to get a 2 TD lead, then have both their running backs, Ceasar and Shelvin, cramp so bad that they didn't even play 2nd half) then no, EC does not give Silsbee all they want and come out on top. Longhorns beat a depleted EC squad. That's the real truth.

Because the "issues" DID spill into the other sports........ sheeze The other sports coaches don't want to walk out of the locker room to find out that our boys aren't just about talking noise in a safe place behind twitter..... or taking cheap shots behind plays. All of which is stupid. Kids need to just play. Has-beens just need to enjoy the rivalry. SAFETY and caution were taken in consideration of BOTH sides.
