I think thats pretty common, coaches want to have refs that fit their style..some guys like refs who let them play...others like refs who call things tighter..a good Coach scouts the officials too

Coach Aymond and Kay did more than just build a program of excellence. They helped keep the young men in that part of town out of trouble. The North Shore/NE Houston area is known as gang central in Texas, and has been for years. I’m not trying to cast aspersions, but I’m not sure Gaston has the same level of control. It may be the times. It may be the kids. But, I have a hard time imagining this type activity would fly under Kay.
