  2. A little early, but ready for the new season in the new digs. This meeting marks the 65th Border Battle between these two hated rivals. The rivalry began in 1946, and is one of the oldest town vs. town, big school rivalries in the state.. It was honored as one of the Great American Rivalry Series Games in 2015. La Porte leads the all-time series 32-31-1. Deer Park has won the last 4 contests. This will be the first time the game has been played at La Porte since 2022. Not a more fitting game to initiate the new Bulldog Stadium than this long time rivalry. The capacity of the stadium will be tested right off the bat. La Porte finished last season 10-4 in 11-5A D1 with a second consecutive District Championship under Coach Berneathy and staff, and eventually lost to district mate Angleton in the R3 Finals 24-21. They return a solid core of players with an eye on a bigger prize in 2025. Gone is the three-headed monster of Barnes, Sandolph & Simon. So, it will be interesting to see how the offense is adapted with Simon as the feature back. La Porte returns 7 on offense, and 7 on defense. La Porte is ranked 6th in the State in 5AD1 by DCTF. Deer Park finished last season 8-3 and 6-1 in 24-6A and lost to North Shore in Bidistrict. They will have new--but talented--skill position players. They return solid, experienced, big (as always) lines on both sides of the ball. The Deer return 4 on offense, and 5 on defense. DCTF is predicting a 3rd place finish for the Deer behind Dickinson & Clear Springs, and another playoff appearance in 6AD1. This rivalry game always has some unexpected twists and turns. It's like NASCAR having Daytona right out of the gates to start the season. Emotions are always high for both teams. But, this year may have added incentive as La Porte will want to record a tone setting inaugural victory even more at the new Bulldog. Deer Park will want to ruin the opening with a win of their own. Deer Park won the last meeting in 2024 at Abshier 25-22. The game should be broadcast on the free LPSportsnet YouTube channel for those not lucky enough to get seats.

  4. Since when did mayor become such a powerful office? $billions will be spent on a job that pays $250k.
  5. Today
  6. Redistricting should ALWAYS be about the numbers and not political gain or loss. When the population landscapes change, that is time to redistrict. That's warranted. Any other reason for redistricting is simply to gain a political advantage. Neither side should do it. I will say, the Dems that have fled to break quorum should be replaced. Immediately!
  7. So what you are saying is Republicans need to be more like Democrats. Got it
  8. Any new basketball players after the first day of practice? lol

  10. [Hidden Content] Both sides have their problems but the argument that Republicans and Democrats are no different is ridiculous.
  11. The articles, magazine, Texan live, and year around content seem worth it to me. If it’s not worth it to others then don’t pay it lol
  12. Probably can’t tell much from shorts, T shirts, and helmets lol
  13. You still didn’t answer my question. Fine speech, but the bottom line is Republicans and Democrats can use the same tactics and it’s kowtowing if Republicans do it (specifically Trump) but no complaints from you if Democrats do it.
  14. How Did The Running Backs Room Look ?
  15. Anyone Know How East Chambers Move In Did On Day One ?
  16. I wanna say Harris won 52-48. But yet Republicans only have 3 congressional seats. Yes, Dems play the game! @UT alum
  17. We just play by the rules the Dems have laid out. I always say -- just tell me what the rules are. Then when I beat you at the game then you can't say anything because I'm playing by the rules you set up. In this case it's setting districts that helps the GOP. Just like the Dems have done in the past. Just like the Dems do in California, Illinois, New York, etc, etc!

  19. This is what I think: The further we get from Athenian democracy, the closer we get to Macedonian rule (look them up). The more that public participation in the process can be restricted, the less that public’s bearing on political outcomes will be. I’m not just talking about voting either. I mean civics, history, sociology. These are being either minimalized or perverted in our education system. Party don’t matter. Active, informed participation does.
  20. You could’ve been like me and pay to be a subscriber and get the magazine early, it not come until August 1st…and then read a whopping 1 sentence about your team and every team in your teams district. Definitely makes the membership seem worth it… I do enjoy the perks of the year round articles…but that entire districts write ups were bad. And before the rebuttal of “they can only write what the coaches provide”. I asked, he wasn’t thrilled about it either and said he filled out the questionnaire with quite a bit more detail but he can’t control what people say (or don’t) in a magazine.
  21. Walkoff HR by Jung!💪🏾
  22. Unreal. Tied in the 9th after a Joc HR!
  23. I wonder if UT alum was outraged over this.
  24. Doesn’t matter, as long as he gets that third term. Whatever it takes!!
  25. Sorry, not your post, but the post of someone else you reposted. Your originality lacks.
  26. Who drew those maps? Republican legislatures. Tell me. Why should Brian Babin, a native rural east Texan be also representing urban Pasadena and Deer Park? The Republicans gerrymandered that map to make room for more Republican voters in the other districts. You really need to study up on how and why redistricting occurs. Your post is senseless.
