  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah. Sounds kind of fishy. They'd be sticking the knife in their own back since they pay millions for the rights, then the affiliates pay them. College football is a much bigger draw than Kimmel. The major over the air networks are basically empty shell corporations without their affiliates.
  3. I struggle with this. I know times have changed, but the fights I had from elementary through high school taught me lots of life lessons.. I remember at Edison before it came to blows, I knew I was probably going to lose AND get licks from the coach......and I was right on BOTH predictions.....lol
  4. Don't know how true this is but I saw where ABC is threatening Nexstar, Sinclair and others with not providing SEC football broadcasts to those companies if they don't air Jimmy. Sounds made up to me. I have not tried to verify.
  5. I agree with the deputy constable. What the district did was inappropriate at best. When I was in detectives I investigated sex crimes and child victims for a couple of years. I have seen school districts obstruct investigations or try to influence the outcome. The outcome being, no bad publicity at the expense of the school. There is absolutely no reason to bring a reported victim, especially a child, into a room with the suspect and have the principal in the room running the investigation. That is unbelievable. Not so strangely, I have witnessed that exact attempt. My partner and I were investigating a sexual offense with a student being the suspect. We went to the school and had them bring the student out of class to speak with us for a felony. We attempted to interview the student at the school so it’s not to disrupt his day any more than necessary. A school representative said that is okay however they would get to sit in and listen to the investigation. Uhhhhh……. No. The school’s response was that they would not allow us to interview the student then. The solution was simple enough, we simply removed him from the school and brought him to the police station, making him lose a significant amount of time. The interviews of witnesses, the victim, and if agreed to, the suspect, are private interactions and should not be viewed by anyone except the Police conducting interview. The school districts should not be involved in criminal investigations or interfere in criminal investigations. On another occasion, I was working security at a high school and witnessed a student assault another student while a teacher was standing between them trying to stop it. The suspect reached over the teacher and punched the other student in the face. My partner and I had a suspect in handcuffs in about 10 seconds. What was the school district’s response? To try to get us to drop the charges, un-arrest the suspect allowing him to walk away and let the school handle it internally. Certainly, that way it would not make the news media. The school interjected themselves into speaking on behalf of the victim in the crime, which they had absolutely no authority to do. The victim or his family might tell the DA that they didn’t want to follow through with charges but that is of no business of the school. Nope….. the suspect went to jail. I assisted my partner on a case he was working against a school teacher. The teacher got mad and threw a heavy set of car keys, striking a student in the eye. He ended up going to the hospital. The school stepped in and told if us that they would not allow the teacher to speak with us. The teacher is not required to speak with the police and could claim her right to remain silent and her right to an attorney. The odd thing was the school district stepping in and taking part in it by telling the teacher not to tell her side of the story. She very well might not have talked to us however but why was the school district stepping in to back up a teacher when the victim student was in the hospital? I could go on but hopefully that paints a picture. I understand them not wanting to air their dirty laundry in the public. Working for a police department, I have seen the same. In the case of a school district however the main focus should be the protection of students. Sadly that may be compromised where the student is thrown under the bus to protect the school. Those are anecdotal cases and hopefully most districts now will not allow worrying about bad press interfere with the safety of the students. Sometimes I wonder though. In my examples the cases were more than 20 years ago. Is it still happening today? This article……..
  6. We have been complaining for years about the shadow banning and cancel culture. Many, not all Democrats and Trump haters supported and celebrated it. They did not want to hear things they disagreed with. They even came up with safe spaces....lol There have been so many phobia's made up, dictionary's would need to be re-written (if they were paper now days) Now we have direct proof of a couple things. 1. The Obama administration purposely sabotaged an incoming President. 2. The Biden administration purposely silenced private companies...... Yet, the left's outrage today is about a private company taking a comedian off their network......
  7. While I didn't watch it , I did see clips of it on social media. I think his explanation (definitely not an apology) was enough to satisfy Disney and ABC. The question is was it enough to satisfy Nexstar, Sinclair and the millions of people he offended...........
  8. Today
  9. It's quite simple, Astros have to win their remaining 5 games to have any chance of making playoffs. They are a game back of Cleveland and Detroit but in all actuality they are two back due to both teams having the tiebreaker over Houston. Another loss and it will take nothing short of a miracle (Detroit to keep losing) for Houston to make post season.
  10. After checking this morning I already know of 3 games I'll lose cause of starters not playing, one game will have all 3 QBs out for one squad smh. Wish I knew before I picked. 🤦🏾‍♂️ (Not switching picks this season)
  11. Can't comment on the DCTF rankings or the way they predict game spreads. It's all AI computer formula stuff now anyway. You think Abseck is not aware of Morton's return??? Abseck, Kuykendall and Cowgill know much about where they are going, they will have the Lufkin kids prepared to play.
  12. I think they needed the rest and regroup time. Retool/rethink a few things for the 'real season.' It was a very solid predistrict against 3 quality teams. I think it really helps when they schedule challenging opponents. Friendswood looks a lot better than last year, and they always play LP tight. This game will be a tough matchup.
  13. I agree all the way around. Although, Ruffin--as fantastic as he is paired with Simon--is also a really major cog in the D. I worry if he's used too much on O, the D suffers from the plays he needs to rest. Tough balancing act. But, I think that can be managed by the staff pretty well. It also gives playing time/experience to his B/U at the LB position. The QB situation, I've said since prior to the season, Wells brings the dynamic to the O that Saenz doesn't. But, Saenz has led this team through the whole building process, and played to his capabilities at the QB spot. I just think it's time to ride with the QB that can take the team to the next step. There's got to be a place Saenz can contribute. If he was a capable punter, it would be nice to have a QB punting. Teams would never be sure if a fake was coming, and it could be a great weapon. I have no idea how his receiving skills are. But, having him line up for possible double passes would be an awesome play to have in the playbook as well. Barnes and Sandolph graciously made way for Simon last year, knowing it would cut into their carries. They did it for the team. I think Saenz is the same type player, and the team has the same mentality. It never hurts to have two capable QB's in case of injury.
  14. DCTF has Angleton as a 48 point favorite. I see it about the same. Angleton, 56-13
  15. Jimmy Kimmel has NOT been silenced, so there goes the “free speech” angle. On the other hand, Charlie Kirk was taken out to silence him. Where is his freedom to speak? The irony is Kirk’s platform has been magnified thousands of times over, while Kimmel’s audience has dwindled, but he is still free to speak his mind.
  16. What a copout. Pick a side, DCTF. lol
  17. Morton being back doesn't change the fact it's still gonna be a good game. Lufkin will be a very prepared team under Abseck.
  18. I just think Simon and Ruffin are to much to handle for most teams. The qb situation is a tough one for me. I lean towards playing Wells but I think you have to find a way to get Saenz involved as well.
  19. Looking at the hudl highlights for LC, the QB is pretty fast when he gets a head of steam. RB is isn’t fast but he’s stocky and strong and keeps his legs moving. He’s certainly not a Sean Simon or Micah Rhodes. A power run team, and the o-line opens up some holes. WR #80 has some wheels on kickoff return. Other than #80 and the qb, not a lot of speed. The tackling isn’t anything special and the secondary is still figuring out where to be. O-line is good. D-line is undersized. Offense not nearly as explosive as the last three years. Qb can be accurate with the deep ball so our secondary will get tested, especially if I’m right that they won’t be able to run the ball against us.
  20. You’ve been waiting all year to say that. Congratulations. You got your “told you so” moment. Actually, you’re wrong.
  21. Stick a fork in them their done!
  22. That seems conservative. I think Crawford wins by three scores.
  23. Porter is 2-1 with only loss coming at Dayton 35-14. Angleton is 3-0. This will be a battle between 2 dual threat QBs, Angleton's Bryce Duron and Porter's Stone Singletary. Both pass well and can get good chunks on the ground using their speed. Porter is getting good use out of a large RB who transferred from Spring Legacy, Landon Binford, Angleton has a large RB of their own in Wyatt Neyland, who also started last year but they use a lot of other backs. I'm glad to see they are using the TE more in passing, Jackson DeAtley. He's the son of long time Brazoswood head football coach, Dean DeAtley. He's also a good blocker. Angleton's best WR Kaleb Jammer who missed the entire district season last year is back with the team and is averaging 115 yards/game. The Massey matchup tool picks Angleton 42-7.
  24. LP’s defense had question marks this time last year, and they went undefeated from week 4 to the quarterfinals. And I don’t think many teams will have an answer for the Simon and Ruffin 1-2 punch. LP wins by 14.
  25. 0 less than 0 chance Coldspring moves up.
  26. I know for sure Hitchcock was missing a starting DB last week. Other than that not sure
  27. Not surprised…
