  11. Hardin pitches another shutout. 36-0
  12. Newton was 278 last enrollment and about 280 at the beginning of this year. That will probably change by 2 or 3 students who register late. Newton is in the lower count of 3A2. Teams like Woodville and Gunner are at the top count of 3A2 at 364 for high schhool enrollment. If they gain more students they could possibly go up 3A1.
  13. SP has open enrollment. At one time they ran buses every school day to the Intercoastal Canal Bridge on Hwy. 87 that separates Port Arthur proper and SP in order to help parents get their children to class. So parents would drop their kids off under the bridge and SP would pick them up and drive to the schools about 10 miles away. In the afternoon they would reverse the procedure. I am sure that it was a lot more attractive to get parents to enroll their kids to go to school in SP by saving the parents about 30 minutes of travel time in the morning and 30 minutes to travel time in the evening. That was as far as SP went was to the bridge when I was still working. Now they may have enough students living in a single area (like Port Acres) for them to send a bus into that area to pick up students.
  14. I too am considering attending this game tomorrow. It's been several years since I watched Hardin play in person.
  15. I think I will be in attendance at this one to see what all the hype is about Hardin
  16. GCCISD as of August 29th high school enrollments: Lee - 1,757 Sterling - 2,227 GCM - 2,112
  17. That can be said for just about any and everything. For every successful business, there are double, triple the number of failed businesses... but those people that failed... does that make them any less, cause their business failed?!?! No. Absolutely not. But I ask you again, why does it matter to you if the players and football supporters in Vidor want a coaching change?!?! Shouldn't have any effect on your far superior huffman football team.
  18. I was surprised to see looking at the latest poll release from DCTF that La Porte is no longer in the top 10 falling from #5 to out of the poll. This is unusual, especially since they lost to a very good team in PNG. Smithson valley lost a game and they are still #3. Why? I think we often give too much credence to polls. How you are ranked does not affect your chance of success, just your talent and how you execute.
  19. Understood, for every coaching change that worked there is one that didn’t work. Vidor will remain in a state where they can be competitive on occasion but will be mediocre to bad most years and it will not matter who is the coach. You are not alone in your logic. Stands are full of folks who believe the same. Coldspring, Woodville and others all wanted new coaches to “energize” the programs with new innovative offenses.
  20. So whatever day is the lowest lol
  21. Astros with a bullpen game win, 6-5. Houston remains 1/2 game back of Seattle, 1/2 game ahead of Boston, 3 ahead of Cleveland and 4 ahead of Texas.

  23. The lights are on but nobody is home, huh? 🤦🏼‍♂️ Why doesn’t it matter to you if Vidor wants change or if a change brings the number back up on the field and in the stands or if a change motivates the current players?!? Does Vidors HC have incriminating evidence against you or something? 🤔 A coaching change has done good for some area teams like OF, BC, LCM, and I’m sure I’m forgetting a couple other teams. Those coaches came and got the kids to buy in to their culture and so far it’s working pretty good. Also, those teams that I mentioned are NOT leaps and bounds better than Vidor when it comes to talent to levels.
