Dave Campbell was pretty close on the spread. LCM could end up district champs again in this district. -

D was revamped. Brought up another Freshman (17) who is every bit a shut down DB. 1’s only gave up 1 TD. QB’s platooned. Didn’t seem to hurt flow of O at all. Simon was in beast mode, with well over 250 & 5 TD’s. He should have close to 1,000 on the season already. Ruffin got 139 & 1 TD before he sat early 1st half for precaution. It wasn’t close. They looked like the team they were supposed to be. Staff used the bye week to do a lot of retooling. Good win. Especially with the Homecoming distractions.

Port Arthur Memorial (62) @ Beaumont United (0) - FINAL

Prior to this game last year, BU was 2-2. This year, they were 3-1. I think that’s the improvement that was mentioned in that article. Clearly, no one including myself had BU winning this game. -

I saw that article in the enterprise about BU and the signs of success to come after their start against that cupcake schedule and rolled my eyes. They clearly still have a long way to go. -
Trinity (35) @ Woodville (68) - FINAL
NewtonNation replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
You may want to do a little more research on this year. -
I think they will get better as season goes but all 4 linemen and 2 linebackers graduated. Honestly they were much better in the second half. Trinity had a very big o line. Much bigger than newtons. Big lines will be this teams kryptonite. I think versus Newton and deeper in playoffs woodville will need to experiment a bit with some larger body packages. Maybe let a lineman or two play a series here or there on defense. Trinity was solid on O. QB was good and a legit dual threat. Newton is so one dimensional, albeit, the best at that one dimension. with that said. Woodville offense is looking great. The line is getting better each week and Babin keeps elevating his game. Nice to Clawson looks like he knows how to continuously add wrinkles and adjust. He’s got several more games to tune this up even more. But offense will have to keep putting up points and will have very small margins for error in some games.

Main thing is the front 7 isn't as strong as it could be. It's better than it was at the beginning of the season but it could still be better. Then the guys they do have out there they have them thinking too much and it's taking away from their instincts.

I was told Silsbee only crossed the 50 once in the 2nd half. Basically the whole 2nd half was played on the Tigers side of the 50. Went for it on 4th down a few times and failed. Tigers were a little short handed for sure. Need to be ready in two weeks for district opener with Hamshire-Fannett. -
Terrible is putting it mildly
-
Makes sense. No clue what the defense is doing. It's appears as if they don't practice at all during the week leading up to the game. It seems like one of the worst defenses that WV has had in quite a long time. It's baffling. Newton will easily put up 80 on them playing like this and that's with a running clock!
-
If Trinity is a playoff team, then this District is terrible.
-
My guy at this game basically said Carthage sleep walked their way to this win. Very vanilla in 2nd half.
-
Not really mad about loosing this game Dayton played a gallant game against probably the #2 team in our district. I'd be surprised if any team other than PNG puts up as many points as Dayton did against Mongomery s defense: Dayton and Montgomery just served notice to the rest of the District !
-
OF only had 6 offensive possesions the whole game. They scored on 4 of them, turned it over on downs on two. Hardin had 6 offensive possession and scored on all 6. Not a single punt by either team.
-
Babin will do that against most teams in district if he wants to. It'll be tough trying to do that against Newton or some of the better teams in the playoffs though. Defense gone have to tighten up. Giving up 35 to Trinity can likely lead up to 60 against Newton. And I don't think we'll be able to match that 60

Trinity is a solid 3 in this district. They aren't to #2 spot already on the line first district game for these two. -
