one game playoff- Goes to Jasper...Two great pitchers-Hicks and Sowell--comes down to bats and I think Jasper has the edge.

3 Game playoff  2 of 3 for Jasper (ok Im a Homer)  which game is won by BC is dependent on how the coaches decide to use their pitchers...MPO is Jasper has a deeper pitching staff,  and thats what will make the difference in a 3 game outing...

Cannot wait to see when and where and how many they will play.

I am not sure about the Little league being great, but they are pretty good and some new people were in control this year. Sometimes change is good and sometimes not. A good little league is essential to consistent high school programs, so I hope the people involved keep the focus on the kids and teaching them baseball instead of which adults are doing what!

It probably won't be Lamar. Cards are in the SLC tournament so none of the coaches will be able to stay in town for the games.

I keep hearing that excuse.  Nederland played at Rice last year when they were in the Super Regional at LSU.  Redshirts took care of the field, which at Lamar would involve raking a little small area on the mound.

Lamar would be the ideal place to have these games.  Hopefully someone can figure out a way to make it happen.

I heard it was Gilligan that doesn't like to have teams play there when no coaches are in town.  Its not a rule for everyone.  Every coach is different I guess.

Guest Burkeville Chronicle
Wherever this game is played it has all of the markings of being an absolute classic! At this stage of the playoffs, with these two local teams and their history, not to mention the game or series should be played in the area meaning many, many rabid fans, it just does not get any better!!

How about a type of home and away with Nederland and Woodville as the fields. The travel inconviences will be about the same on this graduation ( Jasper ) weekend for both teams/fans. Both fields have covered stands with ample room for stand up visibility outside of the seating areas. Flip a coin on which location is first and a double header to finish on Saturday. One of the teams will play another big weekend so field prices could come into effect as the road to Austin continues.

I know Jasper has played post season in prior years at Nederland, might be partial but it's a great place for playoff baseball.

Nederland doesn't have the room to seat the fans Jasper and BC bring. Not a fun atmosphere at all when your crammed in the bleachers. JMO

I have to agree with Stringer. The last BC-Jasper play-off game in Nederland was not fan friendly. Not nearly enough room around the stands or down the fences. It was about 10 deep down the 3rd base side where BC fans were. It will be packed and it will be loud. I wonder if they have checked Minute Maid. Might draw a bigger crowd than the 'Stros.

If they are looking for two Neutral sites, it seems that Jasper generally uses Woodville. Great playing surface and plenty of room for fans both in the bleachers and down the lines. With the field sitting down low, the site lines are great.

BC could always use Vidor or LCM as neutral site host games. Not sure how many each place holds, but they are both good fields...might see a lot bombs hit if LCM is used.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
