1. West vs Kirbyville All Games at Lufkin Hudson Gm1: Thursday 7pm Gm2: Friday 7pm Gm3: Saturday 1pm
2.
Baker struck out and hollered an expletive. 0-0 end of 1
Was it directed at the umpire? If it was that will get you dumped every time in high school.
3. The AD is Gunner's dad. What caused the ejection? Crazy to happen that early in a game.
4. The 2nd place team from Carlisle's district is Harleton. They are playing in the other regional semifinal. In a warmup game Carlisle suffered their only loss of the season to a 2A team, Hughes Springs, that is playing in a regional semifinal this weekend. Carlisle played a tough schedule. The third place team in their district fought them hard twice as well. Not saying WS is a bad team. Carlisle is just a pretty exceptional 1A team. They would win a lot of 2A districts this year and would compete for a playoff spot in some 3A districts. I hope it is a good series that is close for three games...but WS is going to have to play solid for that to happen. Would be nice to see an upset...would shock the people from Carlisle.
5.
Carlisle has 1 dominant pitcher and are way overrated..jmo
Is your opinion educated or are you just posting? Have you seen their #2 and #3 throw? They are very good for 1A pitchers. There is a reason why Carlisle's record is what it is. Gunner can only pitch one game a week.
6. Who is the home team? I would think that if that score holds it would be an upset....Price Carlisle is waiting on the winner. Next week is gonna to be a tough draw for whomever pulls game three out.
7. Anyone have an update...or a final score from last night. All I heard/read was that WS won.
8. Carlisle beat Simms Bowie 10 to 0. Whoever wins tomorrow will have a very tough test next week.
9. Thanks for the Update. One of the things I miss the most about living in SETX is the coverage of SETXsports.com. Up north we have Smoaky, but it not nearly as good. I love the separate forums for each sport at SETX. Much better baseball coverage as well. Smoaky is very spotty for baseball. At least there is not txhighschoolbaseball.com Glad they expanded from just 3A. Keep up the good work.
10. I tried to post on the Area Schedule thread but it is locked...tried to PM WOSGrad, but for some reason I can't PM him. The thread has the White Oak v. Woodville winner facing Troup. For some reason the UIL bracket page also already has Troup advancing ...don't like the change this season. I thought Max Preps would be a help and not a hindrance for the UIL...has Troup already defeating Central Heights. Not the case...it is a three game series From the Troup ISD website 2013 Baseball Area Playoff Series: Troup Tigers vs. Central Heights Devils Best 2 out of 3 Friday, May 10th at Driller Park in Kilgore, TX 7:00pm Saturday May 11th at Driller Park in Kilgore, TX 1:00pm (and 5:00pm if needed) Ticket Prices: Adults $5.00 School Age Children $3.00 Younger than school age, Free Passes: 19AA District Pass, 18AA District Pass, Senior Citizens, Texas High School Coaches Association Should be a great series. Central Heights is a power in 2A and they won a tough district....actually won a flip against Elkhart. Troup is a very scrappy team with a great new young coach. Regardless of who takes this series the winner of the White Oak v. Woodville series will have a tough opponent.
11. That usually something that the individual umpire has to do. It is a very simple process, but for the technically challenged umpire it might be difficult.
12. I hate that I missed the state meeting. George led TASO through a time of transition and was and is a great leader. When I was in the Beaumont Chapter I enjoyed working with and for him. I hope his health is holding up. Have a great season in SETX...I call ball a little bit up north now.
13. That is crazy. It has to be hard on the boys. Jasper's program will do fine, but this is one of the better jobs at a 3A school in Texas. The baseball program has so much support within the community and from the sounds of they have a lot of talent coming up in the next several years. Whoever gets the permanent gig next year should have a good future in Jasper. It is great that Coach Smith gets a chance to run the show for a year. Good luck.
