WhoDat Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago Glad you brought this up. What is everyone's thoughts? I heard several coaches really upset about these new "mandatory" UIL guidelines in regards to the Wet Bulb. According to the guidelines there's a very good possibility that athletes will not be able to wear any protective gear in practice or even practice at all outside after about 12 with this Texas heat. I know there are schools in with indoor practice facilities, but most schools especially smaller classifications don't. Many, I heard have adjusted to early morning practices to help, but athletes don't play games at 6am in the morning. The biggest issue is students may not be able to practice one day, but can participate in a full game the next day. So ultimately who's response for the safety of the school when coaches are not allowed to acclimate them in the afternoons? Makes no sense that a kid cant practice outside, play can have a competition when the temperature could even be hotter. Quote

Started dropping to 88.7 around 4:30. Quote
