AggiesAreWe Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 Things have to get better down here or this forum will be shut down completely. Too many violations (some warned, some not) are happening at an alarming rate down here. More violations happen in this forum than all the other forums combined. It also has the most "past banned" members posting which that is about to stop if things don't get cleaned up down here. This is a warning that the owner supports. This forum is not needed that badly. Clean it up guys or this is history. DCT, rupert3 and UT alum 3 Quote

TheMissingBand Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 Same here … I enjoy having an outlet in which to debate/bicker/argue over some fairly important subjects. There aren’t a lot of boards that I’m aware of that are free, local, have consistent posters, and are somewhat anonymous. I’d hate to see it disappear. I’d also like to say that I wasn’t at all offended by Lumraiderfan’s comment. I hate to see him get benched over what we used to call a “burn” or a “dig.” I’m also going to try even harder to voice my opinions in ways that don’t insult the other posters. Let’s try to police our behavior ourselves before the mods get involved. thetragichippy 1 Quote
bullets13 Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 One thing worth noting: when y’all use terms like “libtards”, “pedo-supporters”, etc., just because you’re directing it to a whole group of people on the site versus one specific person doesn’t mean you’re not violating a rule. tvc184 Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 It should not be that hard to address the topic and not another member. It’s not like accidentally blurting something out in a conversation. It’s typing and you have time to go back and look at it. Not that my opinion matters but I am not a fan of calling people out with the @ symbol. If that person feels like responding he/she will. That person may not even want to read that thread. There is no need for @someone and @you and ask what do you think of YOUR guy now. Post your comment and if no one wants to answer, great. But, that’s just an opinion That is not the same as calling a mod/admin’s attention to something or asking another person an educational question like @bullets13 to ask about being a teacher and/or the rules they follow. It’s really not that hard. AggiesAreWe, bullets13 and thetragichippy 1 2 Quote

I say we put a stop to it going forward. I use an @ post when I reference another poster's idea. I don't do it very often. But, when I do, I want to give them credit, and let them know I used their post/idea if using it to post with someone else. Personally, I don't think they're a bad thing on their own. When used childishly, I can see them being a problem. I don't even have my notifications turned on. Quote

mat Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 This forum is so active, I hope most enjoy it enough to straighten up to keep it open. If not, ban’em. I’ll drop in on a topic to see what’s new, only to find five new pages in the last eight hours. Sometimes, I can’t keep up, but you are right, there’s a lot of unneeded atitude. thetragichippy 1 Quote

They can either read it or ignore it. When my attention is requested I usually read it. It has been established that no rules were broken! Quote

Thank you, Management Ok, this sounds like taking care of anyone who breaks any rules. What you have here if a moderator don’t like something personally but no rules are broken then they can arbitrarily tell someone they can’t do something. Again no rules were broken. The problem is what else may come up in the future when one moderator gets his feelings hurt and says “you can’t do that!” Again no rules are broken just a moderator getting their feelings hurt. You know it could happen. Nothing that went on was inappropriate. I will argue the point because I don’t break the rules. But I will say this — if anyone feels they are being harassed or singled out by any moderator then take it straight to the owner of the site! Quote

SmashMouth Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Looks like I'm late to the party. As some of you know, I used to be a regular contributor. And I've always been pretty quick to let my feelings be known when I agree/disagree with a comment. Years ago, I would often give little personal attacks - especially on the football forum (ironic, huh); however, I quit doing that quite a while back. Should've never done it in the first place. It was all in fun for me, but not everyone takes it that way. I quit posting as much because it doesn't feel like discussion or even a spirited argument anymore. It's continual bashing from both sides, and I don't think either side is changing any of the other side's minds. Kinda the way this entire country is going these days, really. I still like to get on and look and read from time to time. I may even comment. But it's lost some of the glow for me. And if I'm being honest AAW, for a while you really made me question whether or not I would ever login again. That was quite a few year's ago, but it's always stuck with me. I realize and understand that this is a privately held site that can do as they please and run it however they want, but I didn't feel right about commenting on this topic without saying this. No hard feelings and it's all good, but it was definitely a bothersome issue for me. All that being said, I'll end this post with this: "A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" -Proverbs 15:1 "My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry..." -James 1:19 baddog 1 Quote
