What do you think about the new signs in Port Arthur?

They are located on 73/87 coming from Bridge City and Hwy 69 coming from Mid-County.  That is the only two I have seen, are there more?

Thoughts?

They are metal (I think) lighted tower looking signs.....maybe 10' tall

Another on 73 coming in from Winnie by the levee. Too small to be cool. But definitely noticed them on my trip. Bet they spent way too much for them. 

What about the "side walk" in the median of 73 between PA and Winnie? Looks like another waste. I mean it can really be a side walk. Txdot must have some reason for it. Maybe a divider net.

I have not noticed this.....maybe a base for a wall or fence?

The first time i passed one I got the impression it was leaning a little bit.

At night it's lit up from within the tower but not clearly recognizable as saying Port Arthur. Seems like a big waste of solor power when they could have used reflective paint.

The sign might not be impressive but I bet it sure makes you want to come to Port Arthur now, right?

They are of an excellent design, I am sure paid for at a high engineering and consulting cost.

 These signs scream of success!!

Seriously, if you are going to waste money on such an endeavor, that is the best they could come up with?

On the order hand, maybe one of the big oil companies donated the money and it really has no bearing on the taxpayers.

 On the other hand is it any different than the money wasted on the Welkom To Nederland sign?

I've seen these signs.  But to me, the Port ought to be on the top and work down not the bottom and work up.  It looks silly the way it is!

The design doesn't look right, but I absolutely have no problem with new signs going up, they're actually long overdue like a number of things here.

Sometimes this type of improvement is done with Grant finding. I don’t know if that’s the case with the signs.
