2022 Scrimmages/Scrimmage Talk

Recommended Posts

Both teams looked ok.  I don’t watch many scrimmages and now I remember why.

Both teams were slipping all over the wet turf early.  Pretty sloppy start

D-lineman #16 for LCM is going to be a problem. He was dominating.

PNG seemed to tackle better than years past.

PNG D did struggle stopping the QB run where you can’t touch the QB.  Not sure how you call a QB run, and can’t let the QB get hit, but whatever.  Both teams lost on big plays when someone got close to QB and wouldn’t have made the sack

Overall it wasn’t bad work for both.  I don’t get why a team would give up a scrimmage for extra practice last spring?   Seems like a lot of work to get done before the first game next week.  In Nederland we just practice in the spring and still play 2 scrimmages.  Not sure what the big deal is Buddy….

Im guessing #18 was Washington he is committed to Texas Tech

Shadow Creek is a 6A D1 state title contender, relax.

I get that, but it’s the little things that are concerning. Personally, I would’ve like to have seen the second string QB run with the first string. A lot of 3rd and longs that we couldn’t do anything with. I did think the defense was much improved. We have a couple weeks to shore some things up. Speed was a huge factor.

Shadow Creek is in the district with Pearland and Alief Taylor so they’ll always go D2 until Manvel moves back up to 6A. You’re absolutely correct though, whoever wins the third round game between Shadow Creek and Katy will play Austin Westlake for a chance to go to Dallas.

I'm going off DCTF, they don't have Taylor making the playoffs.

Oh ok, I got you. Taylor is still going to be the team that makes the playoffs from that district over Strake Jesuit though. SC isn’t really a D1 factor in the Houston area in D1 yet, they’re not on the same level as a North Shore, Atascocita or Ridge Point yet. They do have better personnel than anything BH would ever see in 5A-D1 though

I 100% agree.

plenty of punches thrown. the cops had to go onto the field to help break it up.

everybody at the game thought they cancelled the game because of the big fight but it ended up being a weather delay.

I would expect both staffs to down play it because it makes both schools look bad.

if it was not so bad ask them them for film and post it.

Didn't Silsbee basketball get into a big fight recently too?

Kid has no quit in him and quick as a cat.  If I’m OC, I’m planning on running away from him.  Reminds me of Vidor’s NG the last 3 years.  Surprised the clips show little double team blocking on him.  I’m thinking 2 or 3 blocking, and then, maybe.

There's another video on Twitter of him breaking the LCM power clean record.

Don’t envy the OT who lines up against him.  Talk about a long night having to try & block him every play.  And in the rare game there is a OT who can do it physically, he’ll out quick him.

    • That there’s not a single thread on the fact that the Republican nominee is on trial for paying off a porn star with whom he had an affair while the future First Lady was carrying said nominee’s child.    I remember back when the dirty, no-good Dems sacked Gary Hart over something similar. Same thing with John Edwards and later Anthony Weiner.    But y’all keep pretending God is on your side, lol.
    • I hear what you’re saying, BUT… that hammers the hell out of poor people and the ones with multiple properties don’t eat any more than the poor ones. In fact, you’d basically just be taxing a lot of peoples’ EBT payments. The government  can’t get ahead by taxing what they’re already borrowing to give to people.    I think well off people should pay more… but the scale as it exists is broken.    For the sake of argument, my mom’s house in Groves is valued at $125k. 2/1/1 on a slab.  Her tax bill is $850/year. Without exemptions, her bill would be 3200. It’s right on JCAD’s website. The problem is this…. If someone tries to rent out an identical house, they’d expect to get, what… $1200/month? If you take into account that homeowners/windstorm/flood is a minimum of another $2k per year, you’d need $5k a year just to cover the taxes and insurance. That’s four months (1/3 of the year) just to cover those costs, not counting a potential mortgage payment. But then everybody cries about how expensive rents are… you can’t tax the hell out of non-homestead property to make up for gifts given to homeowners in the form of big tax cuts. It just doesn’t work.    Ten acres in Lumberton? I’ve got a buddy with 10 acres in Lumberton on HWY 69. Prime property… it’s his retirement plan. Sale it one day and cash in. The CAD decided that it no longer qualifies for a special use valuation (timber) and stripped his “exemption.” His 2023 tax bill jumped from $25 to $22,000…. It’s insane.
