WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MEANING OF "STATE"

50,000 fans aren't going to show up to watch football in the rain and cold of December. It needs to be inside.

I always thought they should rotate it between JerryWorld, NRG, and the Alamo Dome every 3 years. If the kids got to pick, they would pick JerryWorld every time.

Absolutely! It's the best stadium in the world

Well in that case stop calling it State Championship games and continue with the commercialized sports that it  has become.

Well that doesn't make any sense, stop calling it State Championship games because you dont like that the games are not played in the State Capital is kind of silly.

I disagree Buddy, The intention for "State" UIL championship was that it was played in AUSTIN. That is no longer the case. It all about venue, and where money is being made to fund UIL and other places who bid to make money from HS players. There is a lot of money being made and some how that gets lost.

Why do you care? The intention for the "State" UIL championship is the opportunity to play the last game of the season for the chance to win the state championship trophy. High school football is the biggest money maker in Texas high school sports. And there is no bigger deal in all of high school sports...why would you not reward these kids with the nicest venue the state has to offer? Stop whining. There is no home team advantage.

Prime example: the DALLAS based officials trying to screw over Ennis last night. Lol

Why ! would you not want these kids to receive extra scholarships from colleges who will offer them. If UIL would fund some programs made for the money that is being spent at these expensive venues.

Not one, I repeat, not one kid would want to play their State Championship game in Austin when Jerrys World is available. Just like the Astrodome used to be the premiere venue for high school football, every high school football player back in the day wanted to end their season in the dome or Texas Stadium. Would have loved to have had what these kids have available to them today. Why regress, don't make sense. Financial hardships are involved in ALL extracurricular activities. These kids from the band, drill team, trainers, players etc will remember Jerrys World the rest of their lives. Don't understand the scholarship comment. Scholarship offers have nothing to do with playing in Austin. Just wish the greater Houston area would take the reigns from DFW football.

So that's it huh? You WANT it in Austin? Nothing to do with WOS driving 6 hours?

You need to be thanking UIL. I said all along...if UIL doesn't put Gilmer, Carthage, Chapel Hill, Henderson, Tatum, and those other guys in Region 2....then y'all aren't there anyway. It wouldn't matter if it was in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, or Port Arthur.

I think its just fine being in a place where 40k will show up for a 12:00 P.M. Saturday game. Just wait until the end of Katy Cedar Hill. If that doesn't prove why the games should be there instead of Austin, then something is messed up. This game already outdrew the New Mexico Bowl game this morning.

As for the scholarships head coaches are there or have been watching all weekend. Playing in Austin would only hurt for scholarships as coaches like Briles, Kingsbury, and Sumlin may not be able to watch the games in person.

Excellent point, I am speaking for the on the bubble kinda kid, you know those who may not have the break out year until their senior year and are deserving of a football scholarship. Some of that money could be used to help these kids reach their dream by adding programs to help them.

One4All I do not think that 6A D1 that is a factor. Allen would still be a huge favorite if it was in Houston, San Antonio, or Brownsville. This game just seems like the celebration of Allen's dynasty, after the gauntlet they have ran through this year.

6A D2 maybe, but Katy has proven they can when wherever.

Not real sure of the point you're trying to make but the way things are going in today's society you'll get your wish. Every kid regardless of how hard they work will get a scholarship. From the kid that busts his/her butt to the kid that eats zebra cakes, skips school & plays video games all day. Don't forget the ribbons & trophies.

I believe that UIL should do more.

NCAA decides how many athletic scholarships are given. Besides...on average 1% of high school athletes are given an athletic scholarship. About 3% even play college ball.

You want something done as a taxpayer and parent...raise the teacher salary at your kids school so it's actually a competitive job. Then you will bring in better teachers that can get your kids prepared for college ACADEMICALLY. Then maybe they can get some ACADEMIC financial help...which the UIL state football championship doesn't govern.
