  1. This teen (14 yo) has not been found and the search continues as far as I know. As a Father I cannot imagine what the parents are going through....

For the rest of us, this is a slap in the face reminder to be safe on the water.  I was able to drive a 12' boat with a 5.5 Johnson by myself, unsupervised at 10 years old.....but Dad had been training me since I was 5. The most enforced rule was never step in that boat without my life jacket on. If I left it in the boat for some reason, I was wading in the water to get the life jacket out of the boat. He caught me in that boat without a life jacket, I was done for the summer.

Train your kids to wear that life jacket at a minimum of when the boat is under power.  I hate reading these type post.

Brittney Griner’s official return to the floor baffles her head coach because it was not a sellout.

I didn’t bring this up about Griner. My point is that the WNBA loses millions of dollars a year as it is not popular.  It only as a subsidiary of the NBA. If it was a regular business or even a professional sports league that lost millions each year, it would have long since folded. It is about the equivalent of a high school JV football team. At least JV has a purpose.

Griner who is obviously a star in the WNBA regardless of her political stance…. but, her coach apparently believed that because she was arrested and in Russia, fans would pack the arena to see her “return”.

Part of the coach’s after game comment was, “How was it not a sellout?”. (In the link posted below)

That is the out of touch part. I am thinking….. go woke, go broke.

The WNBA isn’t losing money because of any agenda. It is losing millions of dollars because it just is not exciting to 99.5% of the public. It is probably subsidized by the NBA just to say there is a women’s league. With that knowledge, the coach thought there should have been an outpouring of support for Griner however.

    Uhhhhh…….. no.

No one is being held accountable because after five years of investigation by a handpicked Trump special prosecutor no crime was found. Not even an indictment. There’s no “there” there. Like Benghazi. Like the Hunter Biden investigation will end. You guys put Don Quixote to shame.

Just like there was no treason or Russia collusion in the Mueller investigation. What the Durham report proved is Obama and Biden were briefed that Hillary was planning the Russian collusion narrative.....and did nothing to stop it.

There is a video of Obama stating he was never briefed in any CIA or FBI investigations.....Then goes on to talk about a hard line separating powers.....so, he lied. Lying is not criminal.... but he was certainly involved in trying to sway an election......you know, the thing Democrats accused Republicans of.....

If you care to watch the video of Obama making those statements, it is up on Waters World.

It would be a felony under federal law to purchase the firearm from a licensed dealer if the intent of the purchase was for another person.

It doesn’t matter if the other person could legally purchase the firearm.

It is legal to purchase a firearm with intent to give it as an actual gift to another person who can legally possess the firearm. That means no money changed hands.

So if you want to buy your brother a firearm as a gift because it’s his birthday, Christmas or just because you like him, it is legal. If your brother says buy it for me, because I don’t have time, it is a crime.

The reason is on Form 4473 that you must complete to buy a firearm at a federally licensed dealer such a good at a sporting good store, it asks if you are purchasing the firearm for another person. If you are buying a firearm as a gift, you are the actual purchaser unlike if money changes hands. It is yours until you intend to give it away as a bonafide gift.

As a person with a concealed carry license it scares the heck out of me I did not know this.  Legal to gift, legal to purchase as a private sale, but illegal to buy for a relative or friend( I get it, you actually lie on the application).

Makes me wonder what other felonies I could unknowingly commit......

  5. 21 for long rifles that have a detachable magazine.....so semi-auto 12 gauges will still be legal.

Here is my thought process. I don't think the act of making someone's first choice illegal will stop them from choice 2 or choice 3 if they are going to commit mass murder.  The next shooting where someone uses a couple sawed off 12 gauges in a confined area may change the weapon of choice for multiple shootings. People that commited won't let a law stand in their way.

I don't have a answer, I wish I did,  I just think these "feel good" laws hurt more than they help.

  6. When I was young the almost weekly visit to Hi/Lo Auto parts with my Dad was always fun. My Dad would bring in a part, and the sales clerk would almost guess what it came off of. I remember bringing in bolts, belts and hoses and the clerk would walk in the back and try and match parts. As I look back, it was simply excellent customer service. The other benefit of going as a kid was to check out the Hot Rods that most of he employees drove to work or possibly worked on during their breaks,,,,,lol

Now, The reason for my post. I have an old homemade boat trailer with older style leaf springs. Where they mount to the trailer requires a rubber bushing. It's a very simple bushing....All three auto parts stores had no clue what is was when I put it on the counter.  Once I explained it was off a homemade trailer and what is was, one clerk looked me dead in the eyes and asked me for the model and year of my trailer.......

So I guess I'm old enough to remember when people that worked in auto parts stores actually knew auto parts.

If you are wondering why brick and mortar is a dying sales model, I found everything I needed online with free shipping, I just didn't want to wait the 2 days.......

Posting is optional if you don't like the rules.  We also allow general calls outs "libtards" and even "magtards".....you went directly to him......just chill with those type remarks and you will be fine......

I’m actually looking for about 3 acres in Silsbee. I bought 10 acres off FM 420 in Kountze, but it’s really too far away from my job. Looking for a place to build after retirement (if that ever happens, lol).

I hear ya. Silsbee will still be about a 30 minute for me and 45 for the wife, but it's worth it to live on the creek.

    And that’s why I live in Lumberton…

I sold my home in Lumberton last year and moved back to my childhood home in Port Arthur. The area I live has no apartments/a street over from "Groves" so the crime seems to be a non-issue.  With that said, can't wait to build our house in Silsbee on the 3 acres we bought.

  10. IMO it comes down to policies, politics and policing.  Over the last 30 years. I moved from Port Arthur, to Port Neches to Lumberton and back to Port Arthur.  Look at the crime statistics.

    1.  You will not get away with speeding in Lumberton (I have the tickets to prove it)

    2. The same goes for Port Neches.

It appears Port Arthur does not have the police presence these other cities have. They may not have the funding or maybe can't find recruits. All I know is I very seldom see a PA patrol car when I'm out and about.

    TVC?

    Reading on another forum…

Apparently, the police did not recommend charges. The former district attorney did not prosecute. At that point you would think he was cleared and normally that is true.

In comes a new DA who makes it a point to push the case where the defendant has already been cleared. Certainly that is legal but has it really done that way? Once the case has been investigated and the accused person should cleared, unless new evidence comes up, it is considered closed.

If those things are true, that the police did not recommend charges and the former DA did not seek charges, it appears this is nothing but a political indictment. It is the same as with the George Zimmerman and the Kyle Rittenhouse prosecutions. The evidence simply did not back up convictions on those charges yet in the big media cases, the prosecution went forward against the evidence. The US DOJ did the same in the Michael Brown, “hands up don’t shoot” false accusations but fortunately even they could not come up with enough evidence to go forward.

Perry just announced he would pardon if boRd approves….told them to expedite it.

Here's what I think should happen.

Joe Biden should pardon Trump for any/all before his arraignment next Tuesday.  "We've got serious work to do here in the US and this is not getting us anywhere as a nation." Trump looks like the criminal that he probably is, but he's free to run in 2024 and without a doubt securing the R nomination and losing bigly to any Democrat.

    Biden cannot pardon State crimes.....

What if he is not arrested for inciting a riot but for disturbing the peace for the words he used and location?

The Supreme Court has stated that no words can be banned. Situations can be. Both state and federal courts have ruled that flipping the bird at the police for example, is free speech. In a recent case from 2021 the US Supreme Court ruled that a student going on an F bomb rant on social media had her rights violated when she was kicked off the cheerleading squad. She was on the JV squad but missed the varsity squad so she did her snapchat tirade saying to xxxx school, softball, cheerleading, etc. She was kicked off of the JV squad for violating school rules. SCOTUS in Mahanoy v. BL in an 8-1 decision said that her free speech was violated because although she said her comments about “school”, “softball”, etc., she never demeaned her school, teachers and so on . It was just a non-specific screw everybody rant.

This is the hidden content, please

So under inciting, what if it was a pro Trump supporter who was simply standing there in public saying that Trump is great?  A crowd gathers and starts throwing rocks.  Does the Trump supporter go to jail for inciting?

If so, any free speech can be negated simply by causing violence against the free speaker.

So, I am not saying that you are wrong but wanted to make those legal positions known.

Any reconsidering or anyone else want to comment?

My guess is disorderly conduct. If he is on a sidewalk (don't you need a permit to "assemble"?) and he may make an unsafe atmosphere by gathering a crowd near building entrances and roadway......but I honestly have no idea....

     Professional courtesy.

Not personally but seen it on YouTube. Most issues are between the police and firefighters.

I was going to put an EMS driver in jail over time but I screwed up and called my sergeant to tell him my intentions because I was sure it would generate a complaint.

EMS heading south on Memorial Blvd in PA blew the red light at Gulfway Dr. As you know, a 6 lane highway crossing a 4 lane highway…. and there was traffic. Like moderate and leaning toward heavy traffic about 8pm.

He bottomed out hitting the hump on Gulfway Dr., probably 80-85 mph. The emergency call on Proctor St?

    A sprained ankle.

I did not interfere with his call or the trip to the hospital. That is when I called my sergeant and let him know my intentions. Instead I his an arrest my sergeant wanted me to discuss it with him and he would call the EMS supervisor. I had a rather terse discussion with the driver about an arrest for Reckless Driving, carrying up to 30 days in the hoosegow.

Speeding? I don’t care. If this guy had been two seconds earlier or later, he might have been going to prison for manslaughter.

I never had an accident or damaged a vehicle (I as pretty hard on brakes).....but I can see you upset over that....

A private EMS driver can be arrested for breaking a city ordinance speed limit

Ever heard of that happening? I remember police being pretty understanding at least when I was working. Looking back, I took some huge chances going through Crystal Beach headed to John Sealy. I remember getting one complaint from a highway patrol, called my boss.

In the same line of questions….

    Fire

    Police

    EMS

When  not on any emergency calls (going back to the station, heading to eat lunch/donuts, etc ), do they have a speed limit?

A couple things - I thought in PA at least ambulances could only go 10 mph over posted speed limit (not that we ever paid attention)

Also, I remember there not being a "code 2" in Texas - meaning if you had lights you must have siren......was that true?

    Speaking of complying….

The police make a completely unlawful arrest. They tell a guy he is under arrest and he shoves an officer’s hand away to try to keep from being handcuffed, while claiming (correctly) that it is an unlawful arrest. The police get  him in custody and charge him with the original unlawful arrest and also resisting for shoving and officer’s hand but causing no injury.

The DA dismisses the attest as unlawful.

Does the Resisting Arrest charge go away? Here’s a chance at redemption.

No, because resisting an unlawful arrest is still unlawful.
