1989NDN got a reaction from Hook'em in Super Conference time??
Ironic that the Drysdales (UT) are joining the Clampetts (SEC).  OU fits-in fine with the Clampetts.  UT?  The jury is still out.  As my longtime friend, and the proudest UT alum that I know, told me, "We will hold our nose all the way to the bank and cash those SEC checks."
Four super-conferences, sixteen teams per conference, and the top four teams in each conference make the playoffs.  Win four games in the playoffs and grab the undisputed national championship.  March Madness finally comes to college football.  Adios, NCAA...welcome the College Football Alliance (four super-conferences).  TV rights divied up to pay the players in the super-conference.

1989NDN got a reaction from Setx fan in Homeless problem in SETX - What are the causes?
I have been a small part, a very small part, of a group that provides hot meals to homeless men, women, and children near downtown Houston.  Mental illness and addiction are the obstacles that I have seen firsthand.  I do not know the answers.  I do know that they appreciate a hot meal, a word of encouragement, and a simple handshake or friendly hug.  Yes, there are some grifters/swindlers, but the majority that I have encountered are not hustlers.  They are stuck in a cycle and need some help.  What I have encountered has taught me about the seriousness of mental illness.  I had such a misunderstanding.

Coach AB can recruit.  His track record at UH on the recruiting trail was outstanding.  His track record at UH coaching up kids was outstanding.  I think the world of Coach AB.  I'm glad he is finding talent and getting those kids to Beaumont.  I know this...if those recruits will buy-in, play with great effort, and play defense, they will rack-up wins.  Coach AB will demand effort on the boards, intensity on the boards, and defense.  Play as hard as you can, for as long as you can, rebound, and guard your man.  If you do those things, you will play.  If you do not do those things, then grab some bench.  I don't know if LU will be dancing in year one, but the Cards will compete, rebound, and defend.  By years two and three, Coach AB should have the Cards banging on the door for March Madness.  Go Coach AB!
    Peace.

Excellent opportunity to play football for a good coach, David Cutcliffe, and to get a top notch education.  Well done.  Congratulations.  He set the bar pretty high for his teammates to beat.

One more thing...do not let his record at UH grab the headlines...when he was HC at UH, we did not have a strong administration in the big building or in the athletic department.  He did not have the resources that Coach Sampson has now.  We have the best Chancellor/President ever at UH, Dr. Renu Khator, and the AD, Chris Pezman is a top-notch talent.  It is a matter of time before Pez moves to a Top-10 program ala UT, OU, OSU, ND, or USC.  Pez is bringing in donors, exposure, and $$$$ like UH has not seen since the glory days of the SWC during the late seventies and eighties.  I would throw out AB's won/loss record at UH.  He was fighting with one hand tied behind his back and wearing a blindfold.  Not his fault.

I'm a UH alum and fan of Alvin Brooks.  He is a great person.  I have met him a few times at UH alumni functions.  He was a gentleman.  He had a positive attitude about UH men's basketball when we were a struggling program, fighting to get back to some type of relevance.  He is a man's man.  He will run a clean program, make his kids go to class and get the academic help they might need, and he is not afraid to coach hard.  He will preach defense...on the ball defense...in the passing lanes defense...defense, defense, defense.  If you do not play defense, then you will not play.  He gets it.  Shooting and offense will come and go, but defense and rebounding travels.  If you have an off night, you can still play outstanding defense, rebound, and play with great effort.  If not, then grab some bench.  I was not a fan of Lamar firing Tic Price.  He is another coach that is not afraid to coach a kid hard and hold kids accountable for playing with great effort on both ends of the court.  I like those types of coaches.  Alvin Brooks can recruit.  Big recruiter at UH.  He will find PGs and wing players that can be developed if they "buy-in" to his program...defense, rebounding, and play 100 mph for as long as you can.  Great hire, Lamar.  Go Coach Brooks!  Good luck Coach Brooks.  We will miss you at Houston.  Should Lamar University do you wrong (hope not), come back to Houston!  I look forward to seeing UH and Lamar play in Houston and Beaumont.  Coach Sampson and Coach Brooks, make that call and get the games on the schedule.
    Peace.

Out of town alum...I am not aware of the recent conversations, emails, training, etc....  Do tell.
One difference.  The PN-G coaching staff does not treat MCM as just another game.  Winning the last three in a row and four out of the last five, they know full well that it is not just another game.  Usually, the coach that comes up short in that game says, "It is just another game."  What else can be said?  The coach has to say something to get the kids refocused and back on track.  The winning coach celebrates, the losing coach says, it's just another game.  Ned fans and PN-G fans get the coach speak.  It's understandable given the magnitude of the game each year.

Just my 0.02 cents.  I'm not being critical of anyone's opinion, but...Barbara Comeaux has earned the right to stay at PN-GISD as Girls AD/Golf Coach for as long as she decides to get out of bed and put on purple and white.  If there was a Mount Rushmore at PN-G, she would be on it.  She is worth every penny that PN-GISD pays her and then some.  She is one of the strongest pillars there is upholding the core values of PN-GISD:  Honor, Pride, and Tradition.
Share more info/intel about the new DC.  Inquiring minds want to know.  Here's to Jayce Nelson either staying with PN-G to learn under a mentor, or if he is moving on, here's to him landing somewhere that is a great fit for him and his family.  I've never been a coach, and I can't imagine that my livelihood depended upon 15-18 year old kids.  Need good/great coaches, but also need ballplayers.  Jimmys and Joes have a lot to do with how good a coach is or isn't.

Initially, she did not break a law. What she did though was disregard a public policy of a private business, i.e., she failed to wear a mask inside the premises of the business.  When asked to comply with the policy, she refused.  Since she refused, the business asked her to leave. The business has that right. She refused to leave. Now, she is committing a crime of trespassing.  All she had to do was comply with the policy or leave. She refused to do both.  Let’s use an analogy. When a patron visits a restaurant, he or she must abide by the restaurant’s policies. For example, no shirt, no shoes, no service. Other high-end restaurants require some patrons to wear a coat and tie. If you refuse, they will ask you to leave. If you refuse to leave, you’re committing the crime of trespassing. Just like if you go to McDonald’s with no shirt or no shoes, McDonald’s can ask you to leave.  If you refuse, you’re trespassing.  This lady refused to comply with the bank’s policy of wearing a mask inside the building.  The bank asked her to leave. She refused. That’s criminal trespassing.  If you do not like the policies of the business, do not do business there.  Call them, close your account by phone or online, and have your money wired elsewhere.  No need to go there in person and escalate the situation.  Use common sense.
