  1. PN-G has size on the OL. This latest run of success for PN-G over the past three years is due in part to having some kids on the OL and DL with size and agility. One OT is a JR and he's 6'5" and 270-275. He moves very well for his size. The other OT is a SOPH and is 6'4"-6'5" and 260+. He too, moves very well for his size. Last year, Jansen Ware was an OT around 6'4" and 275 and he moved faster than any OL PN-G has had in 20-30 years. I have no idea what the families in Port Neches and Groves are feeding their kids, but the Indians have been blessed to have some big kids in the trenches. As for PN-G vs. BU, you can find the game on YouTube. PN-G controlled the trenches and it was not close. It was 38-0 at the half. While PN-G may not have the depth of 5A-DI or 6A programs, they do have the front line size to compete. Yes, PN-G's talent is cyclical. The Indians will not have size in the trenches every year. They won't have 6'4" and 6'5" QBs and WRs each year. For the past two or three years, the talent has been there. What BU needs more than anything is Ws. They need to play 6A teams, 5A teams, or whoever they can find where they can taste some success. Ws build confidence and BU needs confidence. Against PN-G it was 38-0 at the half and BU had no confidence. They didn't roll over and quit, but they weren't excited to be getting drilled 38-0. If they have a booster club, I'd go to the coach's video night and ask, why do we throw a swing pass behind the line of scrimmage when it's 3rd and 12? Why do we send in play calls to our kids with less than 10 seconds on the play clock and then ask our QBs and WRs to assess coverage as the clock winds down to 0? No slants, crossing routes, or combination routes. Just fly routes and swing passes. It didn't take PN-G long to figure that out. Schedule whoever you can and get some Ws.
  2. It's the first game of the season. Both teams competed well but made plenty of mistakes that can be corrected. Fumbles, INTs, and penalties happen in game one. Potentially, there are 15 games left on the schedule. Get better each week and you will forget about tonight's mistakes. PAM's defense will be a nasty tough group. Talent at all three levels. The big guy in the middle and the tall DE are disruptive. Look at your positives instead of the negatives in game one. PAM fans could be married to Halle Berry and would complain that she can't cook. For the good guys wearing purple, I see lots of positives and things to build on. PN-G's defense should be a good group again this year. The offense will find its groove. PAM had a lot to do with PN-G's stalled offense tonight. Keep the rivalry going. Every year these teams should play. Clean game tonight...no cheap shots...just good physical and fast football. Let's go Indians...lots of good things to build on.
  3. No, I did not. I have a good friend that lives in Groves. He told me that 2023 should be another good year for PN-G. The Indians will again have big agile kids on the OL and DL, and Shea Adams will probably play all over the field, which is a good thing because when the ball is in his hands, good things happen. I've read on this message board and on the PN-G board that the Indians have a young QB that can run and throw. #33 returns at RB and last year he proved that he can carry the load. Give DC McDaniel another big DL and more high energy kids at LB and he will stop people. The defensive game plans he put together in the 2022 playoffs were the best at PN-G in a long, long time. Last year, he knew when FBM and SOC wanted to get outside and run, so he put a stop on the edges. Then, when they wanted to run a delay or RPO, he had our kids staying in their lanes. Then, when they wanted to throw, he called the right blitz and coverage. It was a great ride. The kids (and fans) had confidence that he would find a way to get the defense to make stops. Last year's tackling was better than any team at PN-G in the past 20+ years. Those kids hit, wrapped up, and got people on the ground. I'm excited to see if the Indians can build on last year's momentum and have another great run. The 2022 team had lots of good players. Talented kids + great coaching = good mojo and wins. Go Indians.
  4. PN-G has been blessed to have a good run of talented kids with size. The OLs and DLs over the past couple of years and continuing in 2023 have had kids with size and mobility. Mix-in some really good kids at QB, RB, WR, lots of high energy kids on defense that were great at tackling, and add-in the great coaching and conditioning and you will win a lot of games. I have no idea what they are feeding kids in Port Neches or Groves, but the Indians have had the size to control the LOS. It's good times at PN-G. Enjoy it and be thankful. The good times and bad times can be cyclical in HS football. I agree with some of the other PN-G fans. Anxious to see how our Indians will replace #2, 3, 6, 10, 11, 16, 18, 44, 45, 48, 64, 65, 68, 72...lots of really good kids on the 2022 team. In the playoffs, I'm not sure any team had better LBs that PN-G (3, 6, and 16)...tackling like their hair was on fire. Go Indians.
  5. +1...Earl Evans, Port Arthur Lincoln, 1972-1974.
  6. Progress? Pictures?
  7. Fire up Cherokee and give Coach Chris Smith a raise. Out of town alum and I am happy to read about the Indians having success in basketball. Everyone says that Coach Smith is a good coach and he is proving everyone right with Ws. I hope he stays at PN-G a long time. Making his mark and contributing to our core values of Honor, Pride, and Tradition. Go Coach Smith! Go Indians!
  8. At PN-G, during 1974-1977, Coach Ethridge had talented kids and assistant coaches. 23 all-state players and several assistant coaches that left to become high school head coaches or assistant coaches in the college ranks. Kids like Wilson Weber, Kyle Aguillard, Richy Ethridge, Randy Ethridge, Ted Brack, Justin Eicher, and Robert DeRutte do not come through Mid-County very often. Very talented kids. Assistant coaches like Greg Davis, Tim Nunez, Bruce Bush, Paul Carswell, and Ken Clearman were successful at PN-G and they sustained success after they left The Reservation in 1977. You can find a video on YouTube where Jeff Powers productions interviewed Doug and Richy Ethridge about PN-G's success during 1974-1977, and both of them stated that PN-G's success was a combination of talented kids, great assistant coaches, and legendary community support. The core values of Honor, Pride, and Tradition, which have been taught at PN-GISD for nearly 100 years, also played a part. PN-G gets laughed at for being a bedroom community or cult-like for its commitment to its traditions, history, and core values, but all those pieces of the puzzle are what good coaches look for in a job. Coach Ethridge was elite before he came to PN-G and he was elite after he left PN-G. Regardless of his W-L records or all-time wins number, he was the greatest Chief of the Tribe and second place is not anywhere close. Another great coach that had talented kids at Hebert and West Brook was Alex Durley. He, too, had great assistant coaches. Combine great coaches with talented kids over in Beaumont, and viola, Herbert won and West Brook won...a lot. Durley teams played great defense, ran the ball down your throat, and they didn't turn the ball over. You had to beat Hebert because they were not going to beat themselves with dumb plays and turnovers. Dan Hooks...Cornell Thompson...Curtis Barbay...Steve Shaver...the list goes on. All great coaches that put trophies in the trophy case. Remember those French Buffs in 1984..."Solid...Solid as a Rock!" Those teams had strong coaching staffs and talented kids. I'm a Larry Neumann fan, too. He's another elite coach. I don't care that he never won a title. He was an elite coach. He also had an elite DC in Delbert Spell. Together they maximized the talent that passed through NISD and they won a lot of games against better competition. Excellent football program at NISD under Neumann. Very well coached and prepared to compete. What more can you ask for? I'd line up for coaches like Ethridge and Neumann all day long. Very similar coaching talents and philosophies - play good defense, take care of the football, and when you have opportunities to make big plays...roll the dice and take your best shot. I wrote a lot of words to say that winning championships takes talent + coaching.
  9. Coach Gary Joseph looks great wearing purple. We need to send him some more purple and white gear! Just saying. HC/Chief Jeff Joseph has put together an outstanding staff. Coaching, belief, confidence , and yes, those Indians have a lot of talented kids, all that adds up to lots of fun and wins! One more to go! Go Indians!
  10. Welcome aboard...happy to send you as much purple gear as you want. We could use some great Mustang mojo on our side.
  11. Yes. I don’t recall any bad timeouts or personnel issues for either team. FBM called their go-to plays…jet sweep, QB read option, tunnel screen, quick outs, and the long ball. The PN-G DC stretched our defensive kids from sideline to sideline and the Indians ran all 11 kids to be ball. FBM #85 got loose on a long run and they hit a long ball on us, but PN-G was stingy on defense. It was a great game. All the kids on both teams played a good game. I don’t remember thinking, that was a coaching mistake or that was a bonehead move. As a PN-G alum, I am thrilled to see and enjoying every second of PN-G’s kids having success. Coaches, players, band, Indianettes, twirlers, flags, our beloved Indian Spirit, students, alumni, and fans are enjoying good times! Honor, Pride, and Tradition…We Are PN-G!
  12. I don't think FBM was poorly coached. The Buffs made some mistakes, but PN-G had something to do with that. FBM had a good team. Their QB and DL were legit. JaCoby Banks was a fantastic player. #10, #85, and many other kids. The played well for the Buffs. It was the best, most complete game PN-G has played since 1999. PN-G is blessed to have a big and strong OL that has kids who can move their feet well and they put a helmet on you and move you off the line of scrimmage. The Indians have size and strength, and they use it. On defense, the Indians are playing their asses off. Whatever we are paying the DC, it is not enough. I'm the first one to donate $$$ to give that man a raise. He puts our kids in position to make plays and they make them. I could type the numbers of the whole defensive roster. They rotate kids in and out, and all those kids play 100 mph. Whatever they are doing, keep doing it. PN-G also has solid special teams. The kicking game, punt game, coverages, and returns have been outstanding. The kicker hammered home some great FGs last night. Tip of the cap to the Buffs. Their QB was tough as nails. He made good throws under pressure. He's one tough kid...made good reads and throws. That comes from good coaching. The Buffs had speed all over the field, but PN-G stayed in their lanes and got enough kids around the football to make some stops. The Buffs played well, but PN-G played better. Great game by the PN-G QB...big throws, composure, nice game management, and he's a great punter, too. All the PN-G kids believe in each other. Great coaching and belief is a magical thing. Good game FBM. Great HS playoff game. Go Indians. Peace.
  13. I agree. PN-GISD and PAISD need to communicate and coordinate. Great opportunity for a NRG doubleheader. I hope both teams win after Thanksgiving so they can have another shot at making that happen. SETX would buy some tickets and rally for those two schools...not just PN, G, and PA...it would be Ned, BC, WOS, Beaumont, and other surrounding schools. Missed a good opportunity for this upcoming week. Need to make it happen the following week. Go Indians. Go Titans.
  14. From the pngindians.com messageboard, PN-G will play LBJ on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Rhodes Stadium in Katy, TX. Not too far from Tully Stadium...just down I-10 where Coach Joseph's father will serve as host. Go Indians.
  15. I have no idea where they will play, but Tully Stadium at I-10 and Dairy Ashford may be a good halfway point for both schools. Plus, Coach Joseph is familiar with Tully Stadium. The Katy Tigers have played there as much as the Spring Branch ISD in the past 20 years. Coach Joseph's father at Katy has some pull over in the West Houston and could get Tully reserved for PN-G. Coach Joseph (at PN-G) has familiarity and good vibes from his days at Kay over at Tully. Plus, it is an easy drive for 1989NDN...so I got that going for me (signed Carl Spackler). Go Indians.
  16. Solid Dayton team. No quit in the Broncos. Down 14 in the 4Q and they roar back for a 1 point lead...and then PN-G's #19 did his thing. Anytime #19 steps on the field, he is the best player on the field. He needs more touches. I don't care how you get him the ball, throw it, hand it off, snap it to him, whatever, but get him the ball. Great things, not good things, but great things happen when he has the football in his hands. Solid game by two good high school teams.
  17. When is the last time WO-S lost four games in the regular season? 1977? 1978? 1979? Early eighties? Dan Hooks and Cornel Thompson were not used to losing four games over two seasons much less one season. Hang in there Mustang players...keep playing...keep competing.
  18. PN-G's Shea Adams says...the quotes above did not age well. Go Indians.
  19. Shea Adams and the huge PN-G OL are rolling. The PN-G OL has size and they can push people around. Shea Adams is a ballplayer.
  20. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, and I hear what you are saying. Your opinion is valid and just as good, if not better than mine. I'm not arguing or being a jackass. Just pointing out that no one, no one on this earth, loves PN-GISD more than Lance Billeaud. I know him well. He is a friend. He is all-in, 100% invested in PN-G. He does not care about race, ethnicity, gender, how much money you make, what you drive, where you live, or what sport or activity you participate in at PN-G. If you're a PN-G Indian, Lance Billeaud cares about you. If PN-G has its doors open, Lance is there. He works many hours behind the scenes to secure sponsors for the PN-G radio broadcasts. He's the fire chief in Groves. He loves Groves and its neighboring cities, Port Arthur, Port Neches, and Nederland. If Lance Billeaud is your friend, you have the best friend there is. I like Dave Hofferth on play-by-play. Who wouldn't want Dave Hofferth calling your team's game? Not everyone is Dave Hofferth. I'm just glad that PN-G has a radio broadcast and three people willing to donate their time to call the game. I know...going off script drives some people crazy. I get it, but Lance is our guy and I appreciate what he, Francis, and Rachel do for the PN-G kids. Francis is slowly converting to purple and white...he's still has some ground to cover to completely forget his Nederland loyalties. I appreciate that he cares enough about PN-G kids to donate his time and call the game. Just my 0.02 cents.
  21. FBM - great size and athleticism. Who wouldn't want FBM's front seven on defense? Tall DEs, some push at the DT level, and fast aggressive LBs. Huge OL. Crosby - great effort, took advantage of what was given, and coaches putting young inexperienced kids in the right spots to have a chance to make something good happen. That comes from having a winning program. Kids believe the coaches will give them a shot to make something happen. Tough, gritty QB #10, and a defense that swarms the ball. Crosby had much to do with FBM having an off night.
  22. PAM DC, how is that guy not a HC somewhere? PAM plays good defense. The Titans defense has speed and quickness from sideline to sideline. Solid defensive schemes. They get a lot of defenders around the ball and they are physical. Titans QB and the RBs are talented. PN-G, send those thank you notes for running off Coach Faircloth to the superintendent and school board.
  23. Why? Is nederland worried more kids will quit and they won't have enough numbers to field a team by the end of the week?
  24. tvc184, I read where the matter has been referred to a Jefferson County grand jury. Please explain the next steps in the process. Do you think there is enough evidence for a Jefferson County grand jury to return any type of indictment? In the grand jury phase, will the officers or counsel for the officers get an opportunity to raise any type of defense or justification? Thanks. Go Indians! Peace.
  25. Good find, LumRaiderFan. J.E. McQueen, aka LQ Jones, graduated from PN-G in 1944. It was just Port Neches High School in 1944. He was voted most popular boy and a member of the National Honor Society. Born in Beaumont, educated in Port Neches and at the University of Texas, and found stardom in Hollywood. A life well lived. I remember him from Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and Charlie's Angels. RIP, Mr. Jones (McQueen).
