  1. Coach AB can recruit. His track record at UH on the recruiting trail was outstanding. His track record at UH coaching up kids was outstanding. I think the world of Coach AB. I'm glad he is finding talent and getting those kids to Beaumont. I know this...if those recruits will buy-in, play with great effort, and play defense, they will rack-up wins. Coach AB will demand effort on the boards, intensity on the boards, and defense. Play as hard as you can, for as long as you can, rebound, and guard your man. If you do those things, you will play. If you do not do those things, then grab some bench. I don't know if LU will be dancing in year one, but the Cards will compete, rebound, and defend. By years two and three, Coach AB should have the Cards banging on the door for March Madness. Go Coach AB! Peace.
  2. Excellent opportunity to play football for a good coach, David Cutcliffe, and to get a top notch education. Well done. Congratulations. He set the bar pretty high for his teammates to beat. Go Indians. Peace.
  3. RBs Jonathan Gray, Jase McClellan, WR JoJo EArle...QB from California...6'6" 285 lbs OL kids just magically appear in Aledo every football season...it's amazing...but, Aledo does not recruit. It's the program causing kids to just move-in. Right. Go Indians. Peace.
  4. One more thing...do not let his record at UH grab the headlines...when he was HC at UH, we did not have a strong administration in the big building or in the athletic department. He did not have the resources that Coach Sampson has now. We have the best Chancellor/President ever at UH, Dr. Renu Khator, and the AD, Chris Pezman is a top-notch talent. It is a matter of time before Pez moves to a Top-10 program ala UT, OU, OSU, ND, or USC. Pez is bringing in donors, exposure, and $$$$ like UH has not seen since the glory days of the SWC during the late seventies and eighties. I would throw out AB's won/loss record at UH. He was fighting with one hand tied behind his back and wearing a blindfold. Not his fault. Peace.
  5. I'm a UH alum and fan of Alvin Brooks. He is a great person. I have met him a few times at UH alumni functions. He was a gentleman. He had a positive attitude about UH men's basketball when we were a struggling program, fighting to get back to some type of relevance. He is a man's man. He will run a clean program, make his kids go to class and get the academic help they might need, and he is not afraid to coach hard. He will preach defense...on the ball defense...in the passing lanes defense...defense, defense, defense. If you do not play defense, then you will not play. He gets it. Shooting and offense will come and go, but defense and rebounding travels. If you have an off night, you can still play outstanding defense, rebound, and play with great effort. If not, then grab some bench. I was not a fan of Lamar firing Tic Price. He is another coach that is not afraid to coach a kid hard and hold kids accountable for playing with great effort on both ends of the court. I like those types of coaches. Alvin Brooks can recruit. Big recruiter at UH. He will find PGs and wing players that can be developed if they "buy-in" to his program...defense, rebounding, and play 100 mph for as long as you can. Great hire, Lamar. Go Coach Brooks! Good luck Coach Brooks. We will miss you at Houston. Should Lamar University do you wrong (hope not), come back to Houston! I look forward to seeing UH and Lamar play in Houston and Beaumont. Coach Sampson and Coach Brooks, make that call and get the games on the schedule. Peace.
  6. Random User...it is A-OK to disagree with someone...differences of opinion make the world go round...that said, express your differences without harsh names and ugly words. Civility and common sense applies to us all. Go Indians. Peace.
  7. Initially, she did not break a law. What she did though was disregard a public policy of a private business, i.e., she failed to wear a mask inside the premises of the business. When asked to comply with the policy, she refused. Since she refused, the business asked her to leave. The business has that right. She refused to leave. Now, she is committing a crime of trespassing. All she had to do was comply with the policy or leave. She refused to do both. Let’s use an analogy. When a patron visits a restaurant, he or she must abide by the restaurant’s policies. For example, no shirt, no shoes, no service. Other high-end restaurants require some patrons to wear a coat and tie. If you refuse, they will ask you to leave. If you refuse to leave, you’re committing the crime of trespassing. Just like if you go to McDonald’s with no shirt or no shoes, McDonald’s can ask you to leave. If you refuse, you’re trespassing. This lady refused to comply with the bank’s policy of wearing a mask inside the building. The bank asked her to leave. She refused. That’s criminal trespassing. If you do not like the policies of the business, do not do business there. Call them, close your account by phone or online, and have your money wired elsewhere. No need to go there in person and escalate the situation. Use common sense. Go Indians. Peace.
  8. Out of town alum...I am not aware of the recent conversations, emails, training, etc.... Do tell. One difference. The PN-G coaching staff does not treat MCM as just another game. Winning the last three in a row and four out of the last five, they know full well that it is not just another game. Usually, the coach that comes up short in that game says, "It is just another game." What else can be said? The coach has to say something to get the kids refocused and back on track. The winning coach celebrates, the losing coach says, it's just another game. Ned fans and PN-G fans get the coach speak. It's understandable given the magnitude of the game each year. Go Indians. Peace.
  9. Condolences to the family of Coach Brown. His 1978 Pirates were like Tom Osborne’s Nebraska Cornhuskers. They lined up with a simple and straightforward game plan: We are going to pound you into the ground. Stop us, if you can. VHS district champions in 1978, back when only one team advanced. The district was no slouch. Vidor, Thomas Jefferson, Lincoln, PN-G, Nederland, WO-S, Forest Park, BC-P, and French. Go Indians. Peace.
  10. Westlake and Duncanville have nothing on Beaumont United. BU is the best squad in Texas regardless of classification. Go Indians. Peace.
  11. Good luck Beaumont United. Play your game, do your thing. This PN-G Indian is on your side. Play hard and have fun. Peace.
  12. Just my 0.02 cents. I'm not being critical of anyone's opinion, but...Barbara Comeaux has earned the right to stay at PN-GISD as Girls AD/Golf Coach for as long as she decides to get out of bed and put on purple and white. If there was a Mount Rushmore at PN-G, she would be on it. She is worth every penny that PN-GISD pays her and then some. She is one of the strongest pillars there is upholding the core values of PN-GISD: Honor, Pride, and Tradition. Share more info/intel about the new DC. Inquiring minds want to know. Here's to Jayce Nelson either staying with PN-G to learn under a mentor, or if he is moving on, here's to him landing somewhere that is a great fit for him and his family. I've never been a coach, and I can't imagine that my livelihood depended upon 15-18 year old kids. Need good/great coaches, but also need ballplayers. Jimmys and Joes have a lot to do with how good a coach is or isn't. Go Indians. Peace.
  13. Restaurants are gradually doing away with hosts/hostesses and reducing wait staff. You can now use technology to reserve and find a table, order at your table, someone will bring your food to your table, and when you finish eating, you can pay at your table using a kiosk at the table. Instead of a building full of service workers, there will be a small handful to cook your food, bring it to you, and then clean the table after you leave. The workforce is steadily shrinking in mos industries due to advances in technology. In the oilfield, instead of paying men and women to be in the field, companies are using cameras, video-feeds, and drones. The past 10-20 years have been amazing for advances in technology. Seeing what has happened so fast in the past two decades makes you think that self-driving automobiles, self-driving long-haul trucks, fully automated planes, and a smaller service industry are not that far fetched. ATMs and online banks changed things, instantaneous computer access and sharing of information continues to change things, and who knows what the next set of changes will be or what they will bring to society. Go Indians. Peace.
  14. aki1994...you seem close to the program...what do you think of the 2021 team? Will the soph or frosh QB fight for the starting spot? I hear that both can sling the ball around. Do we have some talent at the RB and WR spots? And, the $1M dollar question, how will the defense stack up next season. I keep hearing that the frosh and soph groups have some talent on both sides of the ball. Can you confirm? Out of town alumni say thanks for the update. Go Indians. Peace.
  15. Play the best 11 kids on offense, defense, and special teams. Going both ways will not hurt the kids or their performance. They are 15-18 year old kids, in good shape, and resilient. They will not drop dead from fatigue due to a HS football game. Play the best kids in all three phases of the game. If parents complain, tell them and their kids to get better in practice and earn their spot on Friday night. I will never understand the mantra, I will not play kids both ways. Go Indians. Peace.
  16. I'd say, great season Crosby. Hold your head high. You played hard, and I hope that you had fun and enjoyed the ride. To Aledo, give your recruiting coordinator a raise. He or she has brought in some great talent year after year. The Bearcat OL was big, strong, and mobile. The RB and WR were top notch. The transfer QB from San Diego, CA was a smooth game manager and distributor of the football. Not every HS program has an abundance of OL kids 6'4" - 6'6" and 250 lbs. - 295 lbs. Keep that recruiting pipeline wide open. Go Indians. Peace.
  17. What do the posters here think about President Trump skipping the inauguration of President-elect Biden? Sore loser? Do not care? The election was stolen and President Trump should never recognize the Biden Presidency and Administration? President Trump should man-up and attend? Show some leadership and make a gesture to heal America? The last time a President did not attend a successor’s inauguration was 1974 when President Nixon left the White House under the cloud of Watergate. President Nixon did not attend the swearing-in of President Ford. Before that, unless you count those that died in office, e.g., Presidents Kennedy, Roosevelt, Harding, McKinley, and Garfield, you have to go back to President Andrew Johnson skipping the inauguration of President Ulysses S. Grant in 1869. Out of respect for the office and to uphold an example of decency, President Trump should attend. Just my 0.02 cents. After President Carter lost and he carried the burden of Americans held hostage in Iran along with the burden of a terrible economy that had divided our country, he attended the inauguration of President Reagan. When President George H.W. Bush lost, he attended the inauguration of President Clinton. Even after Bush v. Gore and hanging chads, President Clinton attended the inauguration of President George W. Bush. President George W. Bush attended the swearing-in of President Obama and President Obama attended the inauguration of President Trump. Even with many differences, those men did the decent thing and showed the world that Americans overcame divisions and peacefully transitioned power. That we were still united through thick and thin. Again, out of respect for the office, I think President Trump should reconsider. What do you think? In two different books, I read where Presidents Bush #41 and #43 left letters in the Oval Office welcoming Presidents Clinton and Obama and giving them words of encouragement and healing. Those types of gestures to heal the divisions within the United States now seem long gone. I hope we can return to the days where our days of unity outnumber our days of division. I'm guessing a few responses will be: (1) the election was stolen, no need to attend; (2) attendance is not required under the Constitution; and, (3) Too little, too late...Pelosi started this mess...where were the olive branches of peace and unity when President Trump held the keys to the White House? Perhaps not...maybe I'll be surprised. Let's hear it. Thanks. Peace.
  18. Todd Dodge is an excellent HS football coach. Nice to have a talented JR QB in Klubnik, a stingy defense, and two big turnovers by NS. Signed, Captain Obvious.
  19. Tip of the cap to the Crosby defense. Branch, Dunn, and the Crosby offense get a lot of credit, and deservedly so, but the Cougar defense is playing outstanding football. Active DL that plays in the backfield, fast LBs, and some ball hawks in the DBs. A very good tackling squad. I like their chances to win it all. This PN-G Indian is pulling for you. Go Indians...Go Cougars! Peace.
  20. The greatest Chief to ever lead the PN-G Indians. The Ethridge family is one of the strongest pillars upholding the core values of PN-GISD - Honor, Pride, and Tradition. Prayers to the Ethridge family and to all of the PN-G Indians mourning Coach Ethridge. Go Indians! Peace.
  21. The weather will not matter. Give the ball to #10, run to the right side, and get out of the way. If you are worried about a fumbled exchange, just snap the ball directly to #10. Run the ball and play good defense. Move on to the next round. Go Indians. Peace.
  22. IMO Texas will be blue by 2028, if not 2024. Harris, Bexar, Travis, El Paso, Dallas, and Tarrant counties are blue. All of them are solid blue with the exception of Tarrant County. The RGV is blue. The Coastal Bend is blue. It is a matter of when, not if Texas turns blue.
  23. Good season PAM. All of the people hammering the Titan D and coaches, take a break. It is a game played by 15-18 year old kids. Go Indians. Peace.
  24. The early seventies were hard times for Vidor, but during the mid- and late-seventies and continuing into the mid-eighties, Vidor had strong teams. The problem was only one team went to the playoffs and Vidor was in a district with PN-G, Port Arthur Thomas Jefferson, Beaumont French, and Beaumont West Brook. All of those teams won a state championship or made the state finals during 1975-1985. SE TX had its fair share of champions back then. Vidor made a run in 1978 under HC Philip Brown. They won the DC and played a good Aldine team in the Astrodome that was probably twice their size in enrollment. People in Vidor must have forgotten the strong Pirate teams coached by Ronnie Thompson (1975 and 1977) and Philip Brown (1978-1983). Under Ronnie Thompson, the Pirates threw the ball all over the yard when most teams were running 3-yards and a cloud of dust. And, he had a bag of trick plays for every game. Add to that some strong defenses, and the Pirates won some games. Under Philip Brown, the Pirates loaded up on the line of scrimmage and hit people in the mouth. They had big OL kids and usually a big RB to pound people into submission. That's what they did in 1978. All of that to say, Coach Matthews would be third in my pecking order. He's had some good teams. He uses his personnel and finds a way to max out wins. He runs a clean program and high school coaches from Orange to El Paso love the guy. If he ever left Vidor, he could have another job within hours. Several HC would hire the guy just to have him on their staff. He is a known commodity and a well-liked man. Go Indians. Peace.
  25. Can we borrow the RB #10 and perhaps two or three from the defense? Promise to give them back. Go Indians. Peace.
