The recruiting coordinator at Aledo is second to none. So is the strength and conditioning/nutrition coach. It is amazing that every year Aledo has an outstanding RB and a few OL kids standing 6'4" or 6'5" and weighing 275+ lbs. It must be something in the water out there in SW Fort Worth, plus the population growth? Didn't the last QB move in from California? Was that last year or the year before? COVID move in because California paused sports?

I believe David Satcher is now the DC at Splendora. In 2021, Splendora went 4-6 overall and 0-5 in district. The defense gave up 291 points over 10 games. Not exactly the 1985 Chicago Bears. I'd tap the brakes on the Satcher to PN-G discussion. But, I enjoy reading the comments in this thread, so carry on. Peace. P.S. If you don't like the 2021 season, no worries. Reagan, I appreciate your respect of Coach Ethridge. You will not find a bigger fan of Coach Ethridge than me. That said, let's not overlook the facts that Coach Ethridge surrounded himself with talented assistant coaches, e.g., Butch Troy, Paul Carswell, Ken Clearman, Greg Davis, Bruce Bush, Terry Cobb, Jerry Hooper, and several others, and Coach Ethridge had some talent on the 1974-1977 teams. He had D-1 talent. In the seventies, Port Neches and Groves were growing. Refineries employed thousands, not hundreds, but thousands. Families moved to Port Neches and Groves. Some of those families had talented kids. There are not too many kids at PN-G today like Richy Ethridge (Texas Tech), Randy Ethridge, Ted Brack (TCU), Kyle Aguillard (Tennessee), Matt Burnett (Lamar), Robert DeRutte (LSU), Justin Eicher (Lamar), James Shipley, Von Robinson, and several others. LBs like Ted Brack, 6'2" or 6'3" and 215 lbs. that could run from sideline to sideline and violently end plays do not come through PN-G all that often. Neither do RBs like Justin Eicher...6'2" 200 - 210 lbs. He could run over your and away from you. Those teams from the seventies are long gone. Times have changed. Enrollments and districts have changed. SETX has changed. The game of football has changed. Coach Ethridge is the greatest chief to ever lead our Tribe. He's on the Mount Rushmore of PN-G greats, but he had talent on the sidelines and in the huddle when he made those championship runs. His son, Richy, was a MLB playing QB. Tough and savvy. He could read defenses at the line of scrimmage and get PN-G out of bad plays and into good plays because he was the coach's son. That doesn't happen all that often where you combine great coaching with great athletes, and your son directs the team and knows how to run your system. Just my 0.02 cents. RIP Coach Ethridge. I get it, Reagan, you have high standards. But, build in some leeway. Great coaches come in different packages. Peace.

Hang in there LU alums/fans. AB can recruit and coach. He demands defense and rebounding. If you want to play for him, you must defend and rebound the basketball. That goes for all five kids on the floor. Guards have to rebound...they can't stand around waiting for a kick-out to run the floor. Some kids do not want to buy in and do what it takes to play for AB. Those kids can grab some bench. AB will weed them out. He will find the right combination of kids. In men's college basketball, defense travels and wins games on the road. Get healthy, build the culture, and AB will win you some games. I've been following the LU games. They are close to stacking up some wins. I'm a firm believer in AB.

Better job opportunities. It happens. People want to move up the chain of command. They left for head coaching jobs. Please tell me you received your education from somewhere other than PN-GISD? It wasn’t close…38-7 at the half and 59-21 final. Allen played well and ET could not find its groove due to penalties and INTs. No shame in losing to Allen in the third round. Coach Morris has Allen playing well.

You're good Strattrax...I thought of Wilson Weber, Ted Brack, Mark Moss, Matt Burnett, Shawn Lang, Trayce Boudoin, and a few others. Shawn Lang was not the biggest guy, but he had a nose for the football and he would light you up with a mean streak. Excellent choice. No argument here. Wilson Weber...his jersey should be retired. Nothing more needs to be said. No one with any sense of PN-G history would argue the point. Another excellent choice.

I saw #20 standing on the sidelines, saw him get the piggyback ride, but he did walk, too. No idea what his injury was/is/might be. Ankle? Knee? Hip? Tough kid and very good RB. I like the direct snap to him in the red zone. He does not fiddle around. He runs north/south and plows in for the TD. Also, he has some breakaway wheels. All-around good RB. Hope he is back next week. #26 is not too shabby as the back-up. Have not seen him break one, but he gets going and will put his head down for the extra yard. People in the stands say there is another kid who has not played this year because of injuries and he is a good one too. Reed? Reeder? I'm not sure. Great win by PN-G. Proud of our kids. I think D Long in Coach Faircloth's system would own a lot of PN-G passing records and they might be so far out of reach that you would need to start a 7th grader to break them. DL could read defenses in a split second and make any throw necessary...lasers, lobs, the short game, and the long game. He was a complete passing QB. Another PN-G QB that threw great long balls was RJ. I don't think there was ever a PN-G QB who could throw the long ball like RJ...beautiful arc and touch. Adam was gritty, tough as nails, and he could sling it around. He was good at reading defenses, standing tough in the pocket, and making good throws. I would take him in a heartbeat year in and year out. It's like your kids...you love them all and you would not dare say one was better than the others (cough, cough...at least you would not say it out loud for anyone to hear). Ha-ha. Who is or was the greatest PN-G pass rusher? DL/DE or OLB? I've thought of a few names, but would be interested in the opinions of others. Strattrax? Rockets? Others? Go Indians!

Good discussion/debate between Strattrax and Rockets. Good stuff. I love them all and I am thrilled they wore purple and white. Glad they are PN-G Indians. But...Richy Ethridge called and said, here, hold my beer, I want in this discussion. I'm the best of them all. Never lost to Nederland or Port Arthur Thomas Jefferson or Port Arthur Lincoln, and I have more playoff wins than several of the QBs combined. Who calls the plays at PAM? HC or OC? I get it. The buck stops with the HC, so there's that. But, who actually does the game planning week-to-week and who calls the plays on Friday nights (or Saturdays)? If you get rid of Morgan, who would replace him with and are you sure you could reel in the desired candidate? SETX is not what it used to be. I'm not sure any program in SETX could lure a top coach. PAM, PN-G, Nederland, WB, United, Vidor, etc. Not sure they are considered destination spots for top notch HS coaches. They once were...many years ago...now, I'm not sure. What sayeth you? First, who calls the plays at PAM?

True. We got a lucky break there. We still had +14 going into the 4Q and lose the 4Q/OT 28-7. That is giving away the game when you can't cover a wing-T team throwing the ball, when you know they need to steal a possession and you look unprepared, or when you have 1st and goal and never give the ball to your RB running behind an OL that had some push. Credit to TC for making the plays to win the game, but, my opinion, PN-G helped them.

My point of reference is PN-G v. Crosby and PN-G v. TC. Watching those two games, the second unit for Crosby will still beat TC. The Stingarees have a physical and quick DL/LB group, but not a lot of size and they were not as disruptive as what I saw from Crosby. At times, the PN-G OL pushed around TC. The secondary for TC was supposed to be good, but the Indians had open WRs. In contrast, the Crosby DL was disruptive from start to finish, and there were smaller windows to make throws. That's just me. I'm not a coach. That was my eye test. Against TC, PN-G was back in the business of giving away a win...we gave one to Nederland and then felt generous when playing TC. If the Indians play clean games against Nederland and TC, throw the ball to people wearing purple/white, and wake up the secondary and special teams coaches from their Friday night naps, PN-G would be sitting in second place. Instead, we give away wins. On top of that, last night during OT, we have 1st and goal, the OL had some momentum holding its own at the line of scrimmage, and Trahan is a good HS RB. The Indians do not give their run game a shot to score? Frustrating play calls in OT. Great play calls in the 2Q and 3Q. Gave our offense momentum. Frustrating 1Q and 4Q. We allow a wing-T team to throw the ball around like Joe Montana to Jerry Rice? Everyone in the stadium knows TC needs to steal a possession and will likely try an onside kick, but we do not coach up our kids to be prepared? In OT, we abandon the run game with 1st and goal? Giving away wins...frustrating. Kids gave good effort. I'll still be there next Friday watching the purple/white Indians vs. the green Indians. Go Big Purple! Good luck to the other district teams...Crosby...BH...TC. Get ready for a good playoff push.

I would not go so far as to say PN-G choked. The scoop-and-score and pick-six interception hurt the Indians. Credit goes to Nederland for making those happen. PN-G can look back and learn from its mistakes. Two other things that stood out to me in that game were PN-G abandoning it run game in the second half and the PN-G defense running out gas in the 4Q. Give credit to Nederland. They played well enough to create some breaks and they won the game because of it. Good game that went the way of Nederland...this year. BH #2 and #81 are ball players. BH and PN-G are similar. Establish the run...and then...poof...let's not run the ball. BH should give the ball to #2 off tackle all night long. When you throw it, throw that ball to #81...good size, good hands, and some decent speed in the open field. PN-G #20...ball player. He gets north/south and he has some wheels. PN-G DL and LBs will fight, scrap, and compete. Not sure what the BH QB did to warrant an ejection. Online...I did not see the penalty. Good game, Indians. Found some mojo. Keep it going.

I've been watching his highlights and reading as much as I can find about him. Great all-around game. TX Hoops nailed it...TA keeps his teammates in the flow...and he plays defense (not much defense by some of the kids on the AAU circuit, but TA plays defense). Not to mention his ability to score...to jump up and shoot over people or create space for an open jumper. Love his game. As a UH alum, I am excited that Coach Sampson was able to make a connection with TA. Kellen Sampson is amped up on Twitter and social media. TA could be a game changer right away. Solja - I hope you are right...I hope TA grows to 6'8". Can you imagine a 6'8" guy with those skills? He may be a one and done to at most two and done recruit. I'm not a hardcore NBA guy, but everything I read about TA says he has NBA talent. Beaumont United has a new fan...me!

I love this signing...TA takes and MAKES big shots. Plays fearless. No idea if this is true, but people on the UH message boards say he is still growing...6'6" and could be 6'7" or taller when he gets to campus. Coach Sampson loves TA's confidence and willingness to play bigtime basketball in pressure packed games. It takes a special talent to play well when the stage is big and the lights are bright. People on the UH message boards are beyond excited about his signing.
