  1. I've thought the same thing; but they sure do seem to run a lot of set-up plays. I'm sure they know what they're doing, but hopefully will not out-think themselves. Regardless, PNG will be ready.
  2. I've never cared for TM, but I suffered through it and got our tickets. This should be a good game, similar to the MLC game; but I'm thinking there will be a few changes made by PNG from the MLC game. We'll see.
  3. They're already selling tickets, apparently, via Ticketmaster. I haven't seen a link yet for PNG. [Hidden Content]
  4. Yeah it was #15. BTW, regarding behavior, there are some real idiots (for lack of a better word) that attend these playoff games. Really obnoxious.
  5. I still don't know any confirmed, for sure, details about PNG's coaching change. I'm just a somewhat casual observer, though, and haven't pushed or nosed around for any details. But I do know that Faircloth and his family were fairly popular with players and PNG families. A dedicated PNG sports site even has a separate place in the forum dedicated to him, and folks still follow the team that he now coaches. There were several players that quit football over it. Of course, the kids that stuck it out enjoyed last years' success, and so this year several of the boys that left, returned, and are part of this years' team. I don't think Coach J. was very widely popular at first with last year's team. He worked them very hard. Only the kids that wanted it, stuck it out. Especially after the first game, the disaster home game against Memorial, PNG's worst home opener ever, many folks were shaking their heads. By the end of the season last year, almost all of the above was forgotten.
  6. "Starting" = playing regularly, in my way of thinking. For example, there are linebackers that swap in and out, and rotate who plays the initial series. Perhaps the same with some of the linemen. But I know what you mean, and agree. Against Galena Park pretty much all of the defense and offense were back-ups to the back-ups, playing various positions. #11 was QB, eg; and I didn't know who the defensive linemen and linebackers were, and neither did the press box, he was just announcing numbers, and no names. Shea returning has given the team a new spark, and the seniors can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think they are ready and anxious to get onto the field against this #1 ranked team and get it on.
  7. PNG is the underdog, ranked #3, playing the #1. Go get-em, PNG!
  8. Ha! I don't think so. (But I think they would get away with it there.)
  9. Yeah, I'm not looking past MLC, just looking over at the other games. This should be a good game, but I think if PNG keeps playing like they've been playing then they'll take it to them. I'm just glad that LC is the one that's ranked #1. PNG already played the team that was ranked #2, and won that one, 7-0.
  10. I agree. They played all night, but did very little on the field at HT. Not saying they aren't good; they are, and their drill team. Respectful, too. They stayed in tight formation behind the end zone until the home team band was finished. (Brenham drill team did the same last week, btw, but not their band.) WRT the game, 4th qtr, the screen pass razzle dazzle play that scored Rouse's 2nd TD, I was waiting for a flag for illegal formation. No way they had 7 guys on the LoS, I thought. So, I watched the replay today, and it was close, but looked legit enough for the refs to give it to them. No matter, with a 51-7 score at that point in the game. But I know I saw PNG try to do something similar a few times last season and get flagged.
  11. Not trying to look ahead, but Randle may really be the team to watch out for, PNG or anyone else.
  12. I don't think this game was an upset either. Randle looks pretty good, based on recent scores.
  13. Get there early. Hopefully PNG just keeps on doing what they've been doing.
  14. Except they can leave those cow bells at home. Geez ...
  15. I'm hoping the Bulldogs surprise everyone, and LC even more. So they lost to WOS, PAM, FBM, TC and PNG. That's not too shabby competition. Anything can happen in the rain.
  16. I can picture Shea going into the game here and there, just as a decoy, so to speak. PNG should be able to control this game.
  17. Everyone got plenty of playing time, even Adams came in to take victory formation honors. Galena Park has a very good band and drill team. The football team is few in number, and mostly small, but there was some hitting going on, especially from their offensive line, regardless of the outcome. Congrats to the Indians, district champs.
  18. I heard yesterday that the Nederland student section had a scoreboard to keep up with how many times Cherokee was played, and the number reportedly ended up in the 40s somewhere. It's one of the few songs that never gets old. A few years ago I was checking out at one of the businesses in PN, and the young lady cashier had musical notes tattooed on her forearm, from the wrist up to about the elbow. I commented, "please tell me that's not the PNG fight song", and she laughed out loud and said "no sir it's not". She didn't say what song the notes represented, and at that point I didn't ask.
  19. It's Senior night, so parents or representatives will be on the field with the players pre-game. Otherwise, this game will be about taking care of business and winning district undefeated in district. With this coaching staff, the score does not matter, and who is playing does not matter, whether it be back-up or 2nd back-up or whatever, and whoever they are playing against doesn't matter, the same intensity is expected, and the coaches have the same intensity. Last Friday the kid that got the USC call against him in the 4th qtr, that gave the Bulldogs a first down instead of 4th and long, regardless of PNG's big lead, got some first hand experience of that intensity from 2 or maybe 3 coaches on the sideline right in front of where we were seated. The stands got sort of quiet and the coach could be heard, and some of the ladies (moms, probably) were getting upset. One lady yelled down at the coach (twice), "we can hear you, coach!". I said, "that kid is learning a lesson, and 5 minutes from now he'll be back on the field, and the same coach will pat him on the back". But the whole team will do 15 ups and downs next week, one for each yard of the penalty.
  20. Both teams are tough but TC will be wanting to get it done, and I think they have a little more horsepower both in the back field and on the lines.
  21. I parked on the roadside of a side street, about 2 blocks away, not too bad. It's been a while since I attended a varsity game there. I've always enjoyed playing the Bulldogs. With them you can win 40-0 or whatever, and still feel like you've been in a close game.
