  1. The Bulldogs will be ok; they're a good team. I was surprised that they didn't keep it on the ground more, but maybe they just wanted to work on the passing game more before district games begin. They used 2 different QBs, one seemed to be more for the passing plays. The game was really hyped, and the Bulldogs perhaps reacted more to that, with the various first half penalties, etc, or maybe it had nothing to do with it, IDK. PNG to me seemed to enjoy the hype more, and took advantage of the LP mistakes. This is just my own opinion but last years' PNG team had the '23 state championship and #1 ranking on their backs, and it wasn't until the Nederland loss, that the team turned a corner. They still had their weaknesses but they seemed to play more relaxed. This years' team so far is their own team with their own ambitions, 2 years removed from the championship, and they seem to be enjoying each game more and more.
  2. A bit of a somewhat sloppy game, lots of penalties, dropped passes, but sometimes it works that way. Good win for the Indians.
  3. Big time play comin up 4th down.
  4. Bulldogs gonna get an ear-full from coach at halftime I'm thinking. Maybe a couple of receivers for the Indians may get a few words as well from their coach. Good tough game so far, though.
  5. Indeed, regardless of the outcome, it's a good pre-district game for PNG for sure. Hoping for no injuries, both teams.
  6. Yes I would expect so, I think they will do all games up until the playoffs. UIL has said that they can't do playoff games I believe.
  7. PNG @ LaPorte via NDN Press, and Nederland @ Silsbee via TL.
  8. Just my opinion, but it seems that LP is very close to picking up right where they left off at the end of last season. An observation based solely on the scores so far and the few clips I've seen. Tackling either of the RBs typically includes dealing with some well executed stiff-arms, just like last season. I agree with your earlier comments about the Klein RB. I don't know what was going on but he wasn't in the game for much of the 3rd qtr. Maybe he wasn't full speed for some reason, but in any case the Indian D had his number.
  9. WOS. They'll get it together. Eliminate the penalties mistakes and bad officiating and they should have beaten Nederland. If the OL works on their blocking this week they'll be off to the races. And with all due respect to the kicker, special teams should work on the fake field goal, fake extra points, and onside kick, I think they'll come in handy.
  10. I've seen the exit I think, on I-10. Don't know if they have good football there, but I've seen the Lake Charles high school teams on the practice field in full pads on Sundays and holidays. LCM may have their hands full.
  11. Nederland's 3rd straight 4A matchup; and second straight 4ADII. Probably another close one, but I'm thinking Silsbee, and perhaps not as close a game as last season's game in Nederland.
  12. It's a tossup. I attended the game in PN last season and it turned into a score fest. I forgot how many KO returns for TDs there were. But the defense and special teams for both seem to be improved this year, and perhaps offense as well. I'll go with PNG, but with hopes that the OL gets it together a little better by game time.
  13. WOS team reminded me of last season's team, and the game reminded me of last season's game at WOS. The refs reminded me of the refs for last season's game also, for some reason. Just my opinion, but it matches up pretty well with the previous posts up above, WOS is talented but lack some fundamentals, on the o-line and tackling. And I ain't casting stones at the WOS QB at all, he played a good hard game and brought the team down there for a last second chance to score, and just got caught up in the moment as the clock was ticking down, the crowd roar, etc. He knew immediately and tried to get another snap to spike the ball but it was too late. Like someone already said, it happens. Another good win for Ned; I was impressed with the RB and the defense.
  14. Oh my Lord!!!!! He took a knee instead of spiking the ball.
  15. WOS RBs are pretty much on their own tonight. Maybe they will all get their act together here soon.
  16. 10 is a tough runner but he's gonna get worn out at the current pace.
  17. Got it on TL. Not too many folks in the stands on the visitor's side.
  18. I'd like to see Hitchcock vs HF, if I could be two places at once. But I plan to go watch PNG vs BU. I'm curious to see if/how the new BU coach has made a difference.
  19. I guess Liberty Hill doesn't measure up this year; they seem to always hold a top ten spot throughout the season.
  20. Yeah that's fine. Having seen only 3 of SOC's games I'm only speaking anecdotally, without any data, but based on my observations, when SOC gets a personal or USLC foul, the refs get yelled at by the coach, not the kid(s). And the team wears gloves that are the same color as the opposing team's jersey, (for whatever reason). So, my take wrt the coach's reported quote is that It basically means let SOC's kids hold, and don't call personal or USLC fouls. Anyway, my thought was that it's pretty tough to beat SOC at home with "their" refs, regardless whether NS is in an off year or not. My other thought is that NS took SOC too lightly, since (if I recall correctly) they beat them pretty handily last season.
  21. Indians 35 - 21. If I was the United coach, this Friday against PNG I'd be throwing long deep passes, with an occasional scramble out of the pocket intentional or otherwise. I have no data, but just based on my poor memory I think that all of United's scores against PNG for the past 2 or 3 seasons have been either long passes or QB scrambles. Besides that, just look at the PNG - Klein Oak game film. Of course, Coach J. is looking at the same film. I guess that's what makes the games interesting.
