Prayers sent. How tragic and sad this is.

The last time I attended a game at EC in person the Rice Festival was going on in "downtown" Winnie, and at halftime the band marched in the dark with flashlights taped to their legs. That's all I remember. But Ima definitely attend at least 1 game this season just to see their new QB play.

PAM and PNG threads seem to sort of run together. Didn't intend to hijack this thread though; just looking forward to the first game. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

That's a long way off, but I'll try to get to the Texas City at PNG game. It's been two years since they played, and it's always been a good game. But we'll see. I live closer to the East Chambers and HF stadiums.

Per a quick search for the '25 season, it looks like the Bulldog JV and freshmen beat PNG JV and freshmen teams, and walloped Dayton. I know that's not a tell-all indicator but it's better than being the other way around. In comparison, I know that PNG's '22 and '23 Srs did very well from 8th - JV, and carried over to their Jr and Sr varsity seasons.

Wow, I seemed to think that they were Sr-laden last season. They'll have a new QB and RB, right? It'll be interesting to see how they do in pre-district.

That philosophy is endless, of course, but that's the way it is now. The instructions for a new blender my wife and I bought last week says not to put your hands inside the blender while it's running. Someone somewhere probably did that, or tried to, I suppose.

Define "freaking out". Personally I think it's an interesting discussion. I'm just curious how to make it cut-and-dry. Like the lightning detector, when the alarm goes off, then players leave the field, etc. Perhaps there will be a "WBT-detector" with an alarm available on the market soon, or already is. An entrepreneur could possibly make some money here. But seriously, I would have thought there were already rules in place regarding frequency of mandatory water breaks, and providing areas of shade, like canopies perhaps, for outdoor practice areas, and things like that. I attended fire school at Texas A&M during some hot months for ~15 years, and there were mandatory breaks, covered rest areas, jars of pickles, ice water and sometimes fruit of some sort provided, to protect everyone from heat exhaustion. There are ways. But like I said earlier, the UIL or whoever is just trying to regulate common sense, IMO.

You know more about it than me. For some reason, based just on what I was hearing at the end of last season, I thought there were 2 possible QB contenders, although Ashworth did finish up the '25 season. Same with the defense, just on hearsay I was under the impression that key DLs and linebacker(s) graduated. Anyway, your post sounds pretty good. Maybe the 10-0 PAM prediction up above in this thread could be questionable.

Maybe. Texas City seems to always be a dark horse; it's interesting that they are picked 2nd, even in this new district.

In :22 and '23 PNG had a spring intrasquad game and 1 preseason scrimmage. Maybe 2, but I only recall 1. PAM was sort of their 2nd scrimmage. Maybe it works out that way again this season, but anyway its a good first game. It'll be interesting to see which QBs end up on top. Defense is a big question mark, and special teams too, so this game will reveal a lot. Should be a sellout.

What local schools have OE now?

Is it too early to make predictions? Game 1 for PAM and PNG should be interesting. Is PAM in more of a rebuilding year than PNG is this season?

I agree with whoever said it in the article, it's ok to play the game in the heat, but not practice in it, apparently. That's going to get somebody hurt, IMO. Trying to regulate common sense. And it's unfair to the teams all along the coast, I think. But I need to re-read the article. Teams in 95% humidity on the coast will have a higher wet bulb temp, while teams with 50% humidity will have a lower WB temp. This can get confusing. Team scouts all over Texas will have their note pads, binoculars, and thermometers.

Ok. I don't know a thing about it, I just presumed that a returning starter would at least have the position to start his Sr season. If he wanted it. Anyway, no need to speculate here on a public forum.

Didn't they made the playoffs last season? IDK how many returning starters they'll have, other than the QB, who will be a Sr.

1. La Porte? 2. PAM? 3. Lufkin, WB or United. Or Ball. This could be a very interesting local district race to watch next season.

We'll see. It's a new season, new QB, new defense I think for the most part. Nederland should be returning a pretty good team, and perhaps Dayton. IDK about Lee.

Thanks for the comments wrt FBC. They are popping up on several schedules including PNG, and I was planning to check them out from last season. Looks like 3 or 4 tough pre-district games for PNG, as usual. Good for the new QB(s), although one new QB already got a pretty good baptism with fire last season in the playoffs, especially the last game of the season. Good luck to LaPorte, we had some good games the past two seasons.

Was Hardin and Newton in the same district last season?
