Some of the WOS folks are hell bent on making sure this program is never successful again. It's a tragedy to watch.
Totally false statement. No one wants to see the program fail.

Wow. WO-S actually scored some runs....

Splitting the naming honors like that would make sense. Andre was one of my dad's favorite teammates (he was a sophomore my dad's senior year when they lost in the state semifinals).
Your dad must have went to WO about the same time as my brother and sister. My brother graduated in 75 and my sister in 77.

This. Beyond pitiful. Coach Anderson is rolling in his grave.

It sounds a little premature to make that statement. I wonder if they made that same proclamation when Bear Bryant left Alabama. You may be right, but dang, at least let them play a game first.
Actually when the Bear retired, Alabama did slip into mediocrity. It took 11 years before they made it and won another national title in 1992 and that was with Gene Stallings (a former player for Bear Bryant) as HC. After he retired in 96 it was back to mediocrity until Saban came along in 2007.

Complete Athlete is the best place to start, but I’ll check to see if the school is running any fundraisers.
Welcome to the Indian Nation, CCRed. All Southeast Texas is welcome to join us for this fight.
Y’all have this WO-S Mustangs support in this fight!

Time will tell as it always does but things arn’t looking good at the moment in Mustang Nation.
Dismantled does seem the appropriate word.

Since the new coach has brought in a new DC from Westbrook, does anyone know if they will still run the 5-0 defense that they’ve ran since 1977? Also what about Mike Pierce, the outgoing DC who’s been there many years, is he taking another role or is he leaving for another school?
-
Anyone there that can update?

Thank you for all you’ve done over the years....You and WOSGrad are leaving some mighty big shoes to fill! Congrats and enjoy retirement!

An awful lot of folks have no idea what we lost with his retirement. They are about to find out. His imprint was on that program LONG before he "officially" took the reins. Irreplaceable.
Yes this exactly. I wish the new regime all the luck in the world. But what we lost will never be replaced. In 2-3 years we will know.

Just shooting straight.
No offense, but WOS had a lot working against it. The expectations are through the roof, but pay, facilities, and location are not very desirable… but anything less than an SC is gonna be considered a failure.
Add to that a “woke” administration, a fan base that just tried to have a hall of fame coach fired based on charges of racism, and a precarious situation with the TEA and there’s just not a lot to love about the “opportunity.”
Hence the handful of retreads who applied…
You hit the nail on the head. And this is coming from a WO-S graduate and longtime bigtime supporter. But it is what it is... the truth hurts sometimes.

I’m pretty shocked on just 13 people applied for this job…
Not me. Coaches talk among themselves. They know about situations at other schools. I mean if some in the town got a petition to get rid of a hall of fame legendary coach because he wasn’t doing things the way they wanted, what in the heck would they do to some new guy when he goes against them?
No one wants to get into a toxic situation like that. -

The search committee was a farce. It was pointless. Only done for the sake of appearances. My wife knows someone who is very very very close to one of the committee members. Close as you can be without being the actual member. Wife was told 2 weeks ago this. Said any name that was brought up no matter who it was was shot down. The superintendent had only one name to ever recommend and that was Hickman. Superintendent thy will be done.
