  1. This was a post I posted on the book of faces today in 2018.  This was the year after the 4 year state run.  It popped up on my timeline today. Thought I’d share it here.

“The Mustangs won’t go far in the playoffs, they said. They don’t have the talent and athletes like in years past , they said. They are having a down year, they said. See, they lost 4 regular season games they said. Well, well, but now here they are going to the 4th round and still playing football in December. Never underestimate the heart, grit and determination of the Mustangs.”

Pretty serious problem going on right….wow

For those of you in the know, can you elaborate a little? I know you can’t go into much detail but can a little light be shed on the subject?

Well this just about finishes up a what could've been season. So close in so many games vs quality teams.

This is the hidden content, please

"As a staff, we also realize we’ve got to do things better, too. I totally understand, going 5-6 at West Orange-Stark is just not acceptable. Our plan is to change that and get back to where the Mustangs belong.”

What are they going to change? Change back to the 5-0 defense? Change back to more intense practices?
change back to more discipline football?

they should have never got away from these things to start with.

I think the WOS community has greatly underestimated the effect that Hall of Fame Coaching has had over there… not just in terms of Xs and Os, but also in regards to player development. That steady pipeline of D1 athletes just dried up without a HOF coach to develop them.
You can’t just replace that with some dude that went to school at WOS. The truth is that there isn’t anybody out there that can replicate the past. If Toby was the answer, he’d be stacking up trophies where he is. He’s not, and he won’t if he comes back to Orange, either.

There are only a handful of coaches capable of doing what’s been done in WOS, and none of them are interested in a potential opening at WOS.

    Sorry boys, it’s over.

You’d think that when the HC position became available, there would have been a plethora of coaches applying, but coaches talk to one another and they knew the toxic atmosphere the sup and some in the community created here.

We post on here bcz its our opinion.but, something that ppl are doing is totally over the top.when at halftime ppl going to the gate to argue with coaches is over the line!! And to make it worse a pastor was on the sidelines and he shouldn't have to see that. Including, myself best thing is for everyone is to leave alone.when ur arguing with coaches it's crossing the line.no I don't believe in this coaching staff.but, I can leave it alone.it is what it is.praying for better days.im for one glad football season is over with.ik, the guy but he can't get caught up in the game like that at halftime.smh!!

Someone was arguing with the coaches? Was this at last nights game or an earlier one?

  6. Yep it’s handled differently for each case.  We moved back to Orange (I say back because both the wife and I grew up there) in 2011.  We had been living In Mississippi. Our son was going into his senior year and played football in Mississippi. He actually had been listed as a possible preseason all state lineman in the Mississippi Gridiron magazine. (There version of Dave Campbells). We moved back because of elderly parents, mainly my mom in law which my wife was her primary caregiver.  When my son enrolled at LCM the district UIL committee had to meet to decide if he was eligible. They determined our move was not for athletic reasons and said he was eligible. They sent all the paperwork to Austin to the state committee to sign off on it and told us it’s just a formality the state almost always sides with the district executive committee. Well 1 person on the state committee didn’t believe us. Wished I could remember his name. Anyways they denied it because of him and my son was not allowed to play football his senior year. We appealed it and they set us up a meeting in mid December right before the Christmas break. Well after football was over!  We did make the drive to Austin anyways and this time they approved him but little good that did.
sorry for the long story but we really feel the UIL cost him playing his senior year.  So yes it’s handled very differently depending on the situation involved and who’s sitting on both the district and state committees.
