I want to share a story from last year.
After the game, my folks and I went to the Whiskey Cake in Katy for a very late dinner. I had driven in from Leander that afternoon and they had left PN-G late due to work. Nobody’d had the time to eat beforehand.
There was a family in the restaurant from Liberty Hill sitting a few tables down from us. They had a little girl with them, maybe seven or eight years old, and an older boy who appeared to be late middle school or early high school age. I figured he was a player on the freshman team.
That little girl realized we were from PN-G and gave us the evil eye for the entire dinner. I’m talking a full hour of this girl glaring at us from across the dining area, non-stop. You could feel the heat coming off this girl’s gaze. I had to fight not to crack up all night because every time I’d look over to my left, I had the possessed girl’s hellish stare from the exorcism movie looking straight back at me. You could tell the PN-G crowd, the War Chant and Cherokee had driven this poor girl insane that night.
Her parents picked up on what was going on and came over to talk to us after they finished their meal. Couldn’t have been nicer folks. Wished us luck in the championship, complimented the fan base - just nice, small town people. I told them I lived just down the road in Leander and drove in for the game. Even for a fan base like Liberty Hill’s that generally travels well, you could tell they were shocked that out-of-town alumni would make a drive like that to see the Indians play.
This is the game where our fan base earned the “rabid” label online last year. Every time I think about that, I think about that ferocious glare from that little girl. I have a feeling I’m gonna feel it coming across the field at me again this year. Scalp ‘em!

Ok I am going to nerd out on you here.

I think we should play 19 times to commemorate the 19 straight seasons Nederland went without beating PN-G from 1965 to 1984.

If you don’t have some of THE GROVES running through your blood, then you are soft! 🤣 Growing up in THE GROVES, I absolutely hated everyone from PN, I had no idea about Nederland, but playing for The Groves Browns, I wanted to destroy PN, in the 8th and 9th grade as a Brave at The Groves Middle School was absolutely no different, probably worse. I hated those softies over at PN, couldn’t believe I might have to be on the same team as them, this is 100% truth to my mind set back in the day.

This could be a 3 part Netflix series......

You guys are driving me crazy, it’s not Groves, it’s THE GROVES! You going to have to take the PNG off your name and just be Bamatex if you don’t know about the legacy of THE GROVES! The Groves Browns Pop Warner program had some of the meanest and baddest boys around for years and years!

Fort Bend Marshall wanted a smaller stadium to limit the PNG crowd size, but when the FBM fans have PNG fans sitting in their laps and singing Cherokee because there’s no space they’ll be thinking, “This is so much worse.”

But PNG did just about all they could to lose the game in the 2nd half. 

Not going to lie, that was kinda of nice to watch some good PNG Defense!

Maybe you ask the people at the NAACP (who were cool with the term “colored people”) or the fine folks at the United Negro College Fund. Not a lot of outcry over those two supposedly offensive names.  
 
Racism in America today exists only in the eyes of those who wish to be offended.

The literal push today is “you don’t even understand that you’re a racist, so let me explain it to you.” Racism by today’s extreme definition isn’t something you can see or touch, or even an activity… it’s something you don’t even know exists unless you use your imagination a little. 

and honestly, maybe it was my Parents and the way they instilled the "sticks and stones" ideology , but I have not been offended by anything anyone has done, said or dressed.......and I've been down 6th street during Halloween......

I seem to remember that the former head of the Cherokee Nation had approved of the PNG tradition.  Perhaps someone could expand on that.  Now the Cherokee are lead by a whiny baby woke bloke.
I could fill this thread how PNG tradition should fill Cherokees with pride, but in today’s atmosphere, the logic falls on deaf ears.  Suffice it to say that old Cherokee warriors are rolling over in their graves. 

I don’t need to research the fact that I don’t care what any of them think. It’s a “ harmless” high school spirit chant. Anyone “offended” by that needs to take a couple Midol and call me in the morning.
