I also am a “Grovite” who basically took the same path as you - played on the Browns and all. It’s absolutely true that you grow up as a Groves kid with a chip on your shoulder wanting to beat the “rich” kids of PN at everything! My senior year our starters were pretty evenly split between the two cities, but most of the hard-nosed kids are always from Groves. For reference, I married a PN girl and now live in PN - so there’s that. 😆

This is incorrect. They’ve performed the fight song every year they’ve been for the past 15-20 years or so. Wore the headdresses every time. Headdresses were also in the audition tape worn by drum majors. Disney is flat-out lying and trying to save face by throwing PNG under the bus.

Dustin Long also threw 3 picks that game. Didn’t help the Indians’ cause much. Ended up only being a 10 point game.

I don’t think the general public has any idea of the rumors swirling about Faircloth. Most of the rumors are being professed on this message board. That’s why you don’t see any type of protest or anything - most people just don’t know.

You sure are grouping a ton of parents into one category. Try not to generalize too much. I agree that a few bad apples give a bad name to a group a lot of times though.

I don’t think it has anything to do with kids seeing the field. As stated above, one of those kids started/saw significant time playing and the other was on special teams and also saw playing time. Both of those members are not the type to go looking for a man’s job. Something else seems to be a foot here.

I’m hearing rumors that the 1999 PNG team will be honored at the next home game - anyone know if there’s any truth to that?

The circumstances of this game are very similar to 1999....PNG was 5-1 in district, Nederland was undefeated and pretty much blew everyone out that year with their potent offense. An outright district championship was on the line for Nederland, a co-district championship for PNG. I think we all know how that turned out. Will history repeat itself?

Shotgun alley...that's where it was at! We also had some pretty intense offseason wrestling matches under Burnett. We were just coached all around to be the most physical players on the football field at all times. Pain is temporary, pride is forever!

I played on 2 of those teams...good times!

Forget 2017, how about the 1989 team vs 1999 team? That would be the game to watch!
