I hear you, and what you are saying is true, but there was also a significant speed and talent difference between Hardin 8th grade football and 3A varsity football, and he navigated that pretty well. Let's just wait and see before we start to bury the kid on this board. I like the conversations also, but I can't help but think about the potential of the kid in question reading these posts and how that might affect him. We all love this sport and are passionate about our teams, but we are also all passionate about supporting all kids from SETX to succeed on every night except the one when they oppose our city! lol. I am looking forward to digging this thread back up in October and revisiting these strong opinions all you guys have. 

Schools listed where he was a head coach are absolutely bad year after year in football His record at those schools are not good, however not much worse than Barrow’s record at Nederland

Word on the streets is one of the new OC hire candidates at Nederland involves a 3A coach bringing his QB son that supposedly has D1 talent.🙊

Understood. The point was that they just ran off "the best" they ever had. I really have not seen many AD/HFC anywhere that were not good at "molding young men". In terms of "molders of young men", every school and corresponding group of kids get that with almost every HC.
Things change when the community gets sideways with the HC and begins to invent things to be disgruntled about. Then they start fabricating the rest of whatever story they want to believe.   

Exactly. Crosby just ran off the coach that had the best run in the history of the program. Now the peanut gallery is talking about "what the kids deserve". The kids deserve whatever they get, no different than what the kids "deserve" in every other district. 

A former employee of the district, that thinks they can do a better job than Coach Prieto, has the ear of the Supt. and stirred up some of the town people.  Coach Prieto was tired of hearing all the BS from people looking into the fish bowl, but with no actual skin on the game, and had enough.  This is a classic small town screw job by people that don't have a clue.  I had become a Crosby from a far, now I hope they get what they deserve every Friday night!

Hey folks. Just wanting to gauge interest in possibly starting up a HS football podcast for our area. I already listen to a few podcasts from LSG like 59N and Grant/Terry’s two shows. They cover our area somewhat, but it’s usually a part of a bigger area or the entire state. 
 
Bare minimum, the proposed podcast would run maybe 20-30 minutes and cover SETX teams week to week. Final scores, standings, and other bits of information along the way.
 
If we’re really getting after it, there’d be some extra stats, short interviews with coaches and some of the broadcasters in the SETX Sports group, and some highlights around the state. We could even expand into some of the other sports as the year goes on.
Again, just trying to gauge interest. Personally, I think it’d be good for not only our  contingent on here in the forums, but folks in the area that want to keep up with our local teams.

She had 31, while being face guarded and double teamed by Hardin J, a team with some of the states top players.  I’d say she stacks up well.  Had 25 against Silsbee.

This is old news. They've recovered quite well. 

This was my tenth year attending the entire weekend, and I can say without a doubt, AT&T is the premiere location for these games. There is no argument to be made except for the one about home field advantage. Having said that, NS has won 3 of 4 from Duncanville with the disadvantage everyone is saying they have by going into AT&T for that game. The DFW teams have an advantage, but it has nothing to do with the location. It's more related to facilities, support and easy ability to move around. 

UIL has made the state championships an event, not just a game. This is the magic of it all. So many people, like myself, make it a tradition to travel up and spend the entire weekend celebrating the greatest sports event there is, TXHSFB. The coaches and fans need to realize, if you make it to state, you are going to be showcased in an arena where a lot of eyes will be on you. If you go back to centralized locations with individual games, all of that pagentry goes away. Do you think Clemson is concerned about having to travel to California to play USC in the national championship game if that is how the schedule falls? No. They probably don't like it, but they're not going to petition to have that game played in Missouri rather than at SoFi.

Having coached there 3x with a bunch of kids from Houston I would say this would be the furthest from the truth…

Kids would prefer AT&T and it’s not even close…

The X-Factor, IMO, is Gary Joseph, who now has a lot of free time to crunch SOC film and help his son game plan to stop their offensive attack. PNG just picked up a additional assistant coach for this one. I really think this will make the difference.
