  1. Obviously there are exceptions. The scenarios you just mentioned would certainly qualify as unnecessary... regardless of who's in. And as much as I defend coaches on this very site and otherwise, I wouldn't be able to defend much of that. So I wouldn't try. On the contrary, I've seen numerous circumstances of fans complaining of having the score "ran up" on them for simply not stopping at the point when the game was already out of hand. Implying that either the backups should not play hard or the clock should run. That's where I disagree. I am definitely with you on the examples provided. Onside kicks and fake punts could be added as unnecessary. The throwing? Maybe not every down but if it's a majority throwing offense and the backup is in I would want them to get some reps in case the first choice ever went down. I wouldn't want my backup quarterback of a spread offense, majority passing scheme to go in and hand the ball off a bunch of times in order to burn clock.
  2. It seems like they are becoming or have become quite effective at their strategy to send good people down the road. Kudos, Hardin. Everyone has to be good at something.
  3. Then I retract the aggressiveness in my tone. My point, however, remains in that case in high school games and up. Probably even junior high games. Backups deserve the same level/style of coaching as the starters get at the beginning of the game. Coach them just as hard and with the same intention of reaching maximum success. "Running it up" is one of my most hated comments if/when a team has already removed the starters. The backups are supposed to lay down because the starters gave them a huge lead? I don't think so.
  4. Do you believe that backups should just run out the clock when they get in? Despite that fact that they may rarely get the chance to play otherwise despite practicing/preparing just as much as the chosen starters. I'm curious. I wasn't at the game nor do I know.. but if the backups were in, they deserve to be coached with the same intensity and just the same as the starters in a game situation. It is truly absurd to me to believe that when backups finally get to go in.. that it's even a suggestion for them to play/perform any less than the starters are expected to begin the game or for the clock to just keep running. This isn't little league. If someone feels like they can't stop a bunch of backups from "running it up" then either schedule better or prepare better.
  5. 10-4. Well.. I'm curious now, myself. Hopefully it's at least a good district. The boys athletic program as a whole (but especially football) seems to struggle more often than not.
  6. History shows us that the football program is normally a dump.. what was said was, "The dump formally known as Hardin". I was being sarcastic.. it's still known as Hardin is what I meant. I didn't say that it was a dump before.. even though it can be argued that the football program could certainly have been considered that. I have no idea whether or not the school district is a dump, as I've never looked into the things that might consider it so.
  7. That's big talk. May wanna crawl before you walk with that prediction. I hope you're right... but a lot happens in 4 years and a lot of teams around the state can play.
  8. If you aren’t keeping up with Winnsboro.. you might want to. Former SeTx coach Josh Finney and his son are having quite the season so far. [Hidden Content]
  9. I wouldn’t personally use that Kountze massacre as a measuring stick. I don’t think Anahuac will lose any district games.
  10. I believe so. That's what I meant by saying that. "They'll get a win in district (Hardin). They'll possibly get a win over Kirbyville as well" I guess I should've been specific. I'm betting that Hardin doesn't win another game..
  11. They'll get a win in district. Maybe over Kirbyville as well.. never know.
  12. Liberty lost the ball on a busted play on about the 2 with about a minute to go. Legitimate chance to tie but couldn’t hang on to it.
  13. What possible benefit could come from this?
  14. Interesting game for sure.. Will it be livestreamed anywhere? I'm honestly about coin flip on my prediction.. but I'll go with WV at home.
  15. You're wrong. Just about everyone on here has congratulated the HD players and coaches on the two wins.. Including myself.. as they were unexpected. And the expectation had NOTHING to do with their enrollments. That doesn't make it an upset. It wasn't until HD posters began talking about the great feat of beating Kountze because they made the playoffs last year... even though they're not the same team. Just like Warren. Them having more kids in their high school doesn't mean that they should automatically win. I'm still waiting on you to answer my question about Allen.. don't worry. I already know it's because it's not all about enrollment. Just relax.. we're all thrilled that the HD kids are succeeding. Stop ruining it with unnecessary talk about how they shouldn't have won.
  16. I'm sorry.. not double. They're only 1400 bigger than the next highest (eyes rolled). But they're still much bigger. Why aren't they winning everything? Allen 6959 6A Plano West 5579.5 6A Plano East 5445.5 6A Plano 4999 6A Duncanville 4529 6A Galena Park North Shore 4505.5 6A Lewisville 4468 6A Conroe The Woodlands 4330 6A Conroe 4312 6A Alief Elsik 4277.5 6A Laredo United 4234 6A Pasadena Dobie 4209 6A Arlington Houston 4204 6A Dallas Skyline 4184 6A Coppell 4088.5 6A Alief Hastings 4082.5 6A Katy Tompkins 4018 6A Deer Park 3999 6A Pearland 3978.5 6A Odessa 3926 6A Katy Seven Lakes 3767 6A Lewisville Hebron 3757 6A Odessa Permian 3738 6A
  17. Nobody cares that Warren, Kountze, or Hardin is a bigger school than HD. They're awful for their size.. so it's not an upset. I promise that there are schools all over the state with a lower enrollment than HD that would embarrass them. And that wouldn't be an upset either.
  18. I'm not an idiot.. and enrollment matters some to a point. How many kids does each school have playing football? That matters more than enrollment sometimes. By the way.. if enrollment is the thing motivating your excitement... why doesn't Allen High School win every single game in every single sport? They have almost double the next highest 6A schools.
  19. I've seen nothing but congratulations extended to the HD players for their wins. It's not until posters begin implying how incredible the wins were... BIGGER SCHOOL, UPSET, KNOCKED OFF, MORE PLAYERS, etc.. Nobody cares, man. Nobody considers beating a terrible team as an upset.
  20. What is not being let go is the hypocrisy.. He did to another school exactly what he complains about. That's being a hypocrite.
  21. There they are. Those are the infamous words that HD fans force-feed the rest of us on a regular basis. I have no affiliation with either of these places.. but I'd bet that HD fans are the only ones that know or care about the overall record with anyone. Especially a school that's historically terrible. There you go again.. they suck. What's to celebrate? By the way.. beating Kountze and Warren is far from an upset. They're both awful as well.
  22. Doubtful. "Own medicine?" Actually.. I agree with you. Congrats to the kids for winning but one should take care in celebrating the beating of a bad team. I agree.. Trinity is awful. The difference is that Hardin fans aren't on here talking about what a glorious win it was because (bigger school, playoffs last year, blah blah). That's the difference and a big one. Also, it's hilarious that you're playing off your hypocrisy as a ploy to "bait" someone. Hilarious.
  23. Maybe.. but I have a feeling it will be relatively equally matched. I know that Hardin lost to Warren and HD beat them but someone told me that Hardin lost one their contributing skill kids about halftime. I remember the game being somewhat competitive (according to the score) up to that point. I'd say this might be a coinflip. Definitely more important for Hardin that HD.. as Hardin won't have a lot of chances for close games after this one. Meanwhile.. this game will be like the state championship of 79 to HD fans. I'm sure they'd have a parade if they won. Based on the rhetoric I've seen about this rivalry game anyway.
