"I see Johnny Manziel as a project, a guy that will go down as one of the great collegiate players of all time. I would pay to see Johnny Manziel play in a college game. He’s a great college player, but his game, just in my opinion, does not project to the NFL. He’s a project, and he’s going to have to spend some time working on his game.”

Let's see him lay a lick on The Nigerian Nightmare ala Steve Atwood. Now THAT was full contact.

Did Dan Fouts, Jim Kelly, or any number of great NFL QBs play 7on7?

All I'm saying is that you don't need 7on7 to be successful.

Q: Why do you think Charlie Strong is attacking Texas A&M with his “gadget” comment? Shouldn’t he just worry about his own team that might not win enough games to go bowling?
    Hector F., Houston

Hayes: Strong is doing exactly what the Texas coach, at some point, had to do by defining rival Texas A&M for what it is the last two years: third-place in the SEC West Division in 2012; fourth-place in 2013.
I’m not sure I’d call it “gadget” but you get the picture. For all the hype surrounding the Aggies, what have they done other than introduce the world to the wonder that was Johnny Manziel? It’s certainly not their play against the SEC elite in ranked games (six losses in two seasons), or that thrilling come-from-behind win over Duke in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.
Think about this: two years ago, Kevin Sumlin had Houston unbeaten and playing in the Conference USA Championship Game – and lost to Southern Miss. Since then, he has led Texas A&M to a 20-6 record, signed a $5 million a year contract, and spearheaded momentum that convinced the university to undertake a $400 million renovation of Kyle Field.
It’s an amazing story, really – usually reserved for a program that has won a national (or even conference) title. Not for a team that used one magical game (the 2012 win at Alabama) to redefine a program.

Teams that adapt to their environment are the most successful. This is true from the coach down to the player (yes, mom and dad, jr. is expected to make game time adjustments.) What irks me the most is watching a player not do what his/her coaches are telling them and the parents steadily yelling at the coach to make adjustments.

If you are predictiable, even the granparents in the stands can figure out what you are doing.

38,000 were there to see the Heisman Trophy winner. Private will be good for the ags this year. Sumlin can buy a tarp for the next years game. I saw one on EBay from some guy in Waco.

    2. Contact as many coaches as you can. If you really want to play, you'll do the leg work.
    3. Don't believe everything a college coach tells you. Most are egotistical BS artists. If you do get an athletic scholarship, it's only good for one year. No matter how hard you work, your career is in their hands.
    4. Talk to your school counselor. Find out about the schools, not the football programs.
    5. Have a Plan B. The college coaches I have dealt with could care less about your son. It's a business.
